If they enter blockchain that would be a major impact to the crypto space and will dawn the next big wave and eventually be on full scale mass adoption. However if they invented or somewhat find a new way to have a technology same as blockchain but in line with the real world banking system and present digital framework, that can hit this industry pretty hard.

Tackling Climate Change Using Blockchain
this is an amazing news, despite all the bad news all around for a period of time now, it feels so good finally getting to hear something positive. I think this is a great and a welcomed idea which will definitely prompt other social networks to follow suit. lets continue to hope for more good news for bitcoin

SEND AND RECEIVE MONEY INSTANTLY
Facebook is working on a new cryptocurrency for use with its WhatsApp messaging service, designed to allow users to transfer money across the app.
-What do you think will be the impact of this on the cryptomarket as a whole?  Smiley

I've been reading a lot of news recently about this. But there is no official explanation. I think we would see a big rise in the market if it was really such an initiative.

Definitely not. Stable coins don't really affect the market imo. They are semicryptocurrencies that are completely controlled and thus have nothing to do with the stuff that happens with decentralized coins. I like it that the article is staying realistic about stable coins by mentioning some of the failed projects as well as doubts about tether. I hope that Facebook will indeed back up their coin and guarantee long-term stability. This could actually make their coin the most popular, because it's the most famous company that is launching such a crypto. It might also be a positive thing, because it will familiarize a lot of people with what blockchain is and how it works. Perhaps, after playing around with facebook coin, they will turn to the main crypto market.

FUTURE OF SECURITY TOKENS
It's a great idea and would have a major impact on the cryptocurrency world at large but I think it won't be easily implemented because it would require a lot to develop such technology

Facebook should rather take a look at their security system and finds a new way to generate an income instead of selling personal data of people who asked to not, there are already a lot of things they are not able to work on.
You are absolutely rightt here... Selling people's personal data is one of the major reasons that makes me hate them and I remember at some point in time, they even decided to ban crypto related ads. Greedy bustards

It stops them from giving it to the government for three though which I think is quite good.

Sure it’s probably a bad thing they’re selling data but as far as I know they just mainly have big data analysis run on stuff so they’re not specifically looking at certain people. There are alternative ways to get people’s data and you agree with their terms and conditions by signing up.

I think this is a pretty good development, but I still doubt about security, considering whatsapp about security can still be considered low if we compare it to a telegram. Should, in terms of security, must be fixed for future use so that transactions become safer and as expected

If a day facebook falls like myspace it will be because they were not able to focus enough on their main activity. Pretty sure whatever stable coin FB develops it will be a useless one which nobody will remember in 6 months.

I'm not sure this is a great idea. The source is going to be closed (as far as I know) and all it's going to be is a way of sending money between people and we alreayd sort of have that. I'm not sure as to what the advantages to this are (although they can do their own chain analysis now and get more data from it, potentially having their own inflation and a way of getting them more dollars, maybe they'll charge for advertising on facebook this way so there is probably some good profit to be had for them as they don't have to own the dollars backed by the coins in their entirety - technically).

We'll have facebook loans soon...

Facebook has a wide audience reach already, and billions of users of their platform, this would give such project a boost.
This is about an alternative currency and should be posted in thr altcoin section
You can move it yourself at the bottom left of this post

I think it's a great idea, everyone I know uses whatsapp, being able to use it to transfer small amounts of money to friends will be a great convenience. The less apps I can be signed up to the better. I wonder if it would be a free service or if there would be a fee attached to it.
