Interesting times ahead to see how the Indian government will react to Facebook's Proposal.
Facebook, privacy and decentralisation-I'm not sure if they can go hand-in-hand.
There have being rumors that facebook is trying to develop a stable coin which could incorporate with their whatsapp messaging platform, but nothing official has being hear since, it is a good initiative and they are planning to target the Indian market which is not having any legal support on these platforms and still the government has not come up with any clarity on how they are going to deal with the market, either way looking forward on how things will proceed, there is a election coming up and i hope we will see some changes after that.
there is reason that they are targeting India and not just facebook major social media platform are choosing India as their base users ,as sorry to say but mostly  teenager are wasting their time on social platform and are providing their data which is great  for social platform as they generating good revenue.from previous year facebook user-base has drastically decreased because of data leak so to bait their old users they are including blockchain tech to their security. but i dont think it will create their previous user base again so they have to come with new idea to promote facebook and we have to further wait to know which type of crypto(stable/unstable) they will develop.

Well I'm sure indian goverment will definitely understand blockchain and cryptocurrencies and might be adopt in near future because some days ago I've heard the news that blockchain services will be used for create birth certificate in tamilnadu.
interesting, do you have any source for this news ?

Not sure about Tamil Nadu, but it has been done in Bengal. Pls. refer the news below -

https://www.financialexpress.com/india-news/one-month-old-baby-gets-blockchain-secured-birth-certificate-in-bengal/1419544/

Shortly, the government of Telengana introduced blockchain solutions to its land registry and revenue departments in an attempt to clean up and curb pervasive bribery in the sector.

India is adopting Blockchain technology but neglecting Cryptocurrencies.
it is easily predicted that cypto will not be legalized soon as there are plenty of people in our country which are not educated ,even people who are educated do not have knowledge of technology and it can lead loss of their fund easily,in past few years there were report of scammers in our country so government also don't have choice otherwise people will only complain.

Stable coins have not been very successful in past. 'Basis' recently closed after eight months. Other than that most high-profile stable coin to date, Tether has also been surrounded by controversy. But Facebook with 2.5 million global users, $40 Billion annual revenue and greater experience of navigating regulatory issues, may have a better chance of making stablecoin that sticks.

Facebook will launch stablecoin for Whatsapp - NO!

What whatsapp is suggesting is to start a payments bank very similar to Paytm or Jio Money. No cryptocurrency will be introduced in this entire eco system. They may use blockchain as technology but the money will be very simple INR. I am sure what Cz_Binance is talking is an effect of a Chinese Whisper game. He heard somethings from some source who heard something else from another source.

Don't bank on it guys! Know the truth!
