Windows 7 was waaay prettier,but I use Win 10 for speed and it works great.
I hope some day we will get a theme where we can get the Win 7 look back...

The concept was to have it productive ..and visually appealing.
And making it hard on your eyes or harder to distinguish buttons and windows and text etc is not better.

WHY do think they made a million updates to Windows to gradually IMPROVE the way it looks?

Even OEM's are admitting Win10 sucks and they are bailing on it blaming it and Win8 for horrible PC sales.
I also know people who had bought laptops not long ago and were pissed off and disgusted by it
and immediately went on to install Windows 7 .. such as my MOM

I've actually always thought Windows design team was trying to always make it look more like apple' OSX.

My Setup is always evolving / tweaked..
I have showing my "Pinned" Explorer shortcuts.
My start Menu where i often strip out most of the entries (or add some)
My XP style quick launch i made with sub groups. (+ a hidden Taskbar button for an old password file)
I also added my context menu for the hell of it.

I also have used some tools like Autoruns or Nirsoft app's to modify things.
Such as the "new file types" menu or removing context menu entries etc

I run custom stuff all over and i have work to do & Windows 10 is not for doing work..
it's for kids to surf the web and buy Microsoft "App's" while thinking their Playmobile / Fisher Price OS is cool & Edgy.
Sorry kids but some of us have WORK to do with OUR DESKTOP computers.
And if i wanted a fucking touch iPad i would go buy one. (i have my Android phone for shit like that)

Oh and the OSD on screen in my picture is mine i made it from scratch using Finalwire's Aida645 Sensor Panel API.
So why would i want a StartScreen booting with windows going over top of that?
For what an APP for Weather or News?

On that i have a massive collection of organized in groups bookmarks then home page top 10 bookmarks
plus a weather module and a bunch of RSS feeds for either P2P News or pre-group file sharing info.

Sorry Windows 10 fanatics but it goes way the fuck beyond a start menu.
At it's core the problem is they changed things + removed OPTIONS..
That us guys that customize things need!
If you little noobs are content with using a stock untouched windows OS fine
but don't think you are a modder / custom guy because you did nothing but change
your Win10 Wallpaper and switched to an alternative start menu.. you haven't even seen custom yet kids!
You fucking name it i hacked the fuck out of it on Windows!

Turning my WORK OS into a TOY for children is NOT acceptable.

I use a mac primarily but I still prefer windows styling and interface for one reason - the start menu. Infinetely more productive using that.

I was all about Windows up to Windows 7, but since I bought a macbook for app development I haven't been using anything else. I dislike the direction they took with 8. Windows 10, aka surveillance edition, I only tried for a day on my mining rig before reinstalling 7 because it was too slow. I'm a osx guy now 

I actually like the flat design style much better, but hey to each it's own.

I looked at it from this pint of view.
I like the way Windows 7 is overall (with some modding)
Then i looked on Google what is different between 7 & 10.
And i looked at the list of new or changed things and i liked NONE of them on Win 10.

There really is not much to say is improved on Windows 10.
On Win8 i heard they had made some improvement in how the GUI was rendered
which improved performance slightly.. but that is negligible.

Then i thought ok i HAVE to have my collection of mods i do like my own custom XP style start Quick-Launch.
And i also want to strip and remove or disable anything that i do not need like the printer service.
SO i quickly came to the conclusion that Windows 10 would be a nightmare!
I would have to spend huge amounts of time trying to figure out how to kill TONS of stuff (like Cortana)

So on a fresh install i would have a hell of a lot more work to do to set it up how i want it.
I also have a lot of stuff that is designed for Windows 7 such as my custom theme and start-button changer.

Then what if i mod stuff and this "never complete" (Windows as a service) cloud beta test OS reverts stuff on me?
Like what? ..well, the Telemetry "Spying" supposedly had options to disable them buried somewhere.
So i just learned that people found out one of the updates re-enabled all the Telemetry data collection.
This is not a cool stunt to pull on your customers who value their privacy and security.
And you may think ok Spoetnik well, why can't we just not install that update?
Why? Because updates are Mandatory and forced on users with Windows 10.
And ever seen a program ask if you would like to send feedback to the company etc?
Take Google Android or Mozilla Firefox for example.. both present you an OPTION to CHOOSE!

Options such as being able to turn on or off window transparency.

I did not even get started.. the problems i personally have with Windows 10 are massive!
A huge deal breaker for me is the fact you can not install "Windows Media Center" on Win10.
That alone would be enough for me to say no thanks.. i'll pass.

If guys like it then fine but i do think it's odd how people say Win10 is better looking. (the main topic point)
It literally actually looks like a version of Windows that came out before Windows 95 ..Hilarious  

- I never did like XBOX and i had refused a free one before with games like GTA etc.

- Office has always sucked balls.

and try and beat them at their game.. APP's
They recently were getting criticized for loading Ad's on users who launched IE on Win7
that was nagging users to upgrade to Windows 10 NOW!
Then..
I seen a comment from the head of marketing where he defended 100% their overly aggressive Win10 marketing.
Such as saying they have yet even more plans for tactics such as Windows 7 users getting tricked
into installing updates that do nothing but nag them to upgrade to Windows 10.
The head of marketing said this while defending their stunt they pulled when they forced the update on us all.
Categorizing the Windows 10 upgrade as a recommended update meant..
a lot of people woke up the next day after the update came out stunned to see their machines
had already downloaded and started the upgrade procedure to update to Win10 (with out permission)

Their sleazy underhanded deceptive aggressive practices are CLEARLY done for ONE reason.
They want every Windows user on Earth to adopt the "App's" Sales Platform ... NOW!!!
This why they are using unfair & dishonest aggressive gorilla tactics on their customers.
And even simply.. giving the OS away for free.

When Adobe switched to a Cloud based subscription model i was sure more would do it.. like Microsoft.

I just don't get how people out there are getting worked up, excited and happy to be a part of this crap.
There used to be a time when i would be ALL OVER every alpha and beta OS version but those days are long gone.

Microsoft has made a fatal mistake and it will cost them in time.
I think even if they stopped the direction they are going in, it would be a good decade to repair the damage.

Glad to see that I'm not the only one who thinks Windows 10 looks a bit off, I think Windows 7 looks a lot better than Windows 10. I haven't really used Windows 10 before. Should I stay with Windows 7? I've always liked using it and don't know if I'll be able to switch easily.

I got into an argument with some snotty little douche online recently
..and Microsoft Windows 10 and it's new gay metro-sexual looking GUI.
This little limp wristed queen got very upset that people did not agree about Win10 being good looking.

Ok so here is a comparison picture i made showing just the relevant parts (to make my point)



What that shows is..
- Windows 10 QT based 32 bit program. (Stock Theme)
- Windows 7 32bit program. (with a slight mod of a Deviant Art 3rd party theme called "Glass Onion")

The differences are subtle and stark.. such as the gay pink color this little douche MAN was using.
My windows color was Black.  

My windows has slightly rounded corners and some gradients to add the effect of depth.
My window also has an icon with gradients and uses windows transparency (partly showing my wallpaper)
Then we have the buttons which on Win7 are far more identifiable than on Win10.

That guy insisted his gay "pink" flat style window was way better looking than any Windows 7 windows.
I don't actually understand how anyone with a brain can look at my comparison picture
and then say his looks better than mine... like WTF?

No joke his crappy gay pink window looks like Win 3.1 classic theme's!
How in the tap-dancing christ is that suppose to look better?

So i have been thinking.. what would be the next trend?
I determined that i would need to find a way to make what i already use.
Cost me more money.. have more ad's and is uglier and take me more powerful hardware to run
and if it's inconvenient & naggy then bonus.

A Giant pink touch screen + squares with flashing Fisher price colors and honking horn sounds would be a good start..
Then i can have forced updates, extensive spying (lack of security) bugs galore
integrated bonus sponsored Start-Menu "App's" content.
The more my desktop OS can simulate being on a shitty ass iPhone the better!
Cortana? App's? YES & YES!
But wait we can do better.. let's make Windows a service so it's never really done.
Then let's integrate CLOUD stuff!
Then lets make people sign into a email account to login.

All i can say is.. TAKE MY MY MONEY NOW !
..and then again in another month (when they add monthly subscription fee's)

And who has not noticed that every major program out there has jumped on the "Ugly Metro band wagon"

This Metro & App's / Touch Screen shit has triggered a plague.. PC computing is ruined & dead.

On a regular basis i add more software programs to my "never update again list"
Starting with Windows it's self (Win 7 is my last MS OS)
I also noticed a nightmare with Windows updates problems last while on various machines.
1 guy i know solved his problem and others by upgrading to Win10
So yeah surprise surprise there is no WU problem with Win10  
I seen some guys saying that the problem with WU + Win7 is there is too many updates now.

So why don't they fix it and slip stream them into a new service pack?
..because they are trying to frustrate you into dropping Windows 7 ..AND it's working!
