I think some new projects will still be able to show good growth regardless of the altseason, those that will have some real value and bring benefits to the crypto community and are able to solve important problems and tasks
Yes, but some of these projects are also only in very small numbers, because when compared to those that are still scams suddenly there are still a lot of them at this time, as well as in previous years.

This time around things are 💯 different, there is not ICO hype to hell altcoins surge insanely like they did in 2018 and even DeFi that might help have lost its hype, just imagine if DeFi is just making it's hype right now instead of mid 2020? Maybe through that all eye can be on altcoins or DeFi projects more than what we saw in 2020, here are few facts I know

1. Altcoin season might not help new projects at all, developers need to understand that it's now more about real use cases than profit making, bitcoin is been accumulated more because of its real potential

2. If new money don't flow into altcoins the ROI won't be much, so don't expect that 4000% profits you got in January 2018 unless something new happened that makes altcoins a target too, right now all bows goes to bitcoin

It might not be as crazy as the altcoin season of 2018 but still projects which are showing the promise and potential are increasing a lot . Promising projects will always find a way whatever the market conditions are .

The time is not yet to come, ico hype will still come to us. But built on another network. I believe there will be many project use polkadot in the future, especially DeFi project. And there is always a chance to find the Gem which can gives us 4000% or more. Maybe it could be SYL from XSL labs or maybe another ICO

yes this time it is different from the beginning of 2018 this time bitcoin seems unstoppable, without limits and to me it seems for now the only safe investment, altcoins are too fluctuating at least for me to make a serious investment maybe when eth 2.0 arrives things will change

We are now watching the decline of bitcoin's dominance, which means that the altcoin season is approaching. The price of many altcoins began to increase not only in relation to the dollar, but also in a pair with BTC. For example, the price of Curve has increased to bitcoin by 2 times over the past day.

1. In my opinion high gas fee make altcoin season hard to happen, imagine when you buy some altcoins on market and want to transfer it to your personal wallet, how much fees you need to send all of them(based on ETH blockchain)

2. It's all happen due to ICO hype in 2017 we saw huge return to our altcoins, but because many regulations around the world and ICO was not hype like the old time then dont expect for what happened in 4 years ago.

Don't confuse altcoins with tokens. Every altcoin have lower fees than ETH.

What's with the altcoins season thing?

This doesn't mean that the price of Bitcoin did increase means that there will be an actual time that the price of altcoins will follow. I did say that it will come but it seems that people are expecting all of the altcoins to increase and not just some of them. Some popular altcoins will obviously increase but I don't think the majority of altcoins will do the same.

There is something behind all this, this game is not over yet, very much the difference between 2021 and 2018 has passed, this time everything that fantasies about Altcoin is made crazy, be careful.

2017, Bitcoin goes up, Altcoins are not left behind, be they new projects or old ones all taking part in the crypto market, different in 2021, do not know exactly what will happen to Altcoins in the market after Bitcoin found its highest peak, many people fell this time with regret, it's not over yet everyone is confused about crypto this year, stick to the establishment.

Only the blind won't know that this market is completely different from that of 2017, if Ethereum already managed to break 1000$ price target then all altcoins should be mooning already if we have to judge with what happened in 2017 but now it's not more about FOMO, what interest many is Bitcoin accumulation and few wants Ethereum, that's all I can see right now

when the altcoin develops, the core coin also follows developments as well, when an altcoin moves, it also needs a strong support for the project so that they are interested in investing and even to trade in the long or short term.

Of course, the altcoin season will be different this time, and this is understandable. This time, only proven projects will go up in price, which can be seen in the last days. But do not forget that the market is now very overheated and anything can happen.

I kept having the idea that altcoin season has already happened for the altcoins that are worth it, that is, looking at the price of Ethereum and many major coins so far, one will likely say, they experienced a type of altcoin season, that is to say, all the other altcoins which were banking on altcoins season to happen like that of 2018 are already disappointed, thus setting a new line of things, which is, project teams should focus more on building projects with real value. In addition, I agree with you in the case of Bitcoin, yes all attention, all bows goes directly to Bitcoin and still going directly to it, because it has proved its potential all this while. Lastly, I believe this bull run, really taught many investors the essence of investing in Bitcoin or top altcoins, because those who did really got many gains.

I desperately want some btc...yesterday I bought 10,000 WIN and I have some eth and sushi...
which cryptos should I buy next?
What about DOT and LINK? both were showing the gradual increase and it looks like you must also consider to buy both when the price of those coins get dumped again.
Both were relly promising coins at this moment too. It seems like when you can enter at the correct time and it will give you a very nice profit.

I think there's no altcoin season, it's very different between this year and 2017-2018.

Those new coin on 2017-2018 aren't scam and gave legit payout based on the distribution/promise, but now all of them only scam and become worthless coin since many investors think new altcoin is scam.

All investors are looking for Bitcoin since Bitcoin is still bullish and could reach $50K-$100K.
No, I don't think so. Kucoin and sushi are all fairly promising

Take your time to visit coinmarketcap and see the growth of altcoins since the past 50 days now you will have the answer whether there is altcoin season or not, the higher bitcoin grows the more altcoins will go up too, many people are already running out of patience I see but we can only rely on that patience for now
that's true

No more altcoin season. People don't understand it in the right way.
There's only a season and that's called as the bullish season. Altcoin will never stand with its legs.
People just take the old history without try to see there's a lot of changes happened with altcoins and bitcoin. The market is totally pegged with bitcoin movement right now.

For now, most investors are still looking for bitcoin and many are holding bitcoin because of bullrun, therefore bitcoin is increasingly bullrun. But during bitcoin bullrun as it is today there are many altcoins that also go up in price and we can see it now. But with the rise of altcoins today, many people view this still can not be said altcoin season. But altcoins are pumping prices and after that, there’s a dumped price, and that’s how it spins like that.

How can you guess what will happen next? 2020 showed us what can happen to the exchange rate, with a lot of investor interest that happened due to the fact that the quarantine was introduced. Therefore, I think that in 2021 we should expect good growth because the quarantine was not lifted.
Just expect the big companies will be interesting to put their money into the bitcoin and this would be given a very big impact to the bitcoin's price and altcoins too.
The altcoin season already started and some coins already pumped for more than 200% in less than a week.
I can't sure about what will be happening this year consider bitcoin was not able to break 40k resistance. It's still become a big question of whether bitcoin can go even further or stuck at this rate.

Well, the reality is that the altcoin season isn't going to be of much help to new projects, in fact I thought the opposite. people will focus on the altcoins that are being pumped, rather than looking at new projects, especially if the concept, team, and information on the project is not very complete, or interesting.

For point 2, I think I expect thousands of% of profits to happen to certain altcoins. However, I also think that investors are not expecting much because the current conditions are not like 2017/2018. however, if the altcoin season arrives, the profit will depend on how big the coins are pumped.

ICO hype was a part of blockchain hype. All those ICOs were claiming to be building some platform to solve some problem and their tokens will have some utility on their platform. ICO itself was known prior to that, Ethereum was an ICO, other altcoins were distributed with it in 2016 and earlier. ICO was just a legitimized premine.

Today institutional investors care about Bitcoin, but will they care about alts? I think they will only care about ETH, and some most daring investors would look at other coins, but there will be no market-wide hype like in 2017, because this time the fundamentals are too different.

Even DeFi hype is nothing like blockchain hype, it only concerns DeFi tokens and platforms like Ethereum. Also this hype seems to be dying down and it has no significant interest from institutional investors.

Certainly there are altcoins that are shooting up since yesterday. DOT for example just go from 8$ to $15 all of a sudden same with SNX. If that ain't going to tell you there is an alt season, you better just buy BTC and dump what you have right now.  The altcoins are going to moon too just as how BTC dragging every coins up.

Try joining any new DeFi project's telegram and you'll see the hype is definitively still there.

In every cycle money flows into BTC first, next large cap altcoins before smallcaps explode. This time won't be much different as such, only different coins.
All new people coming in the next year will be just as euphoric as everyone entering the space in 2017, and most of them want to hold more than 0.0something of a coin.

There is a demand for cryptocurrency markets right now, and the pioneer of this is Bitcoin. Altcoins showed a rally, but I think not everything is great right now. Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies have been very quiet for a few days. Bitcoin stays at these levels and altcoins can make a breakthrough again. That's when we have a real altcoin season  Undecided
The only demand I can see are on bitcoin and ethereum only, every other coins have buyers as well but not as demanding as bitcoin and ethereum, it will be a big shame for all those waiting for altcoin season to happen this year, be careful which coin you keep or hold, things are quit different now

Not true exactly. Have you looked at the portfolio of Grayscale? They are holding a few altcoins like Litecoin, Zcash, Ethereum, Xrp, Zen etc. If some more institutional investors are there, won't the price will surge? They will of course surge but not like back in the day it was because low cap projects or shit projects will never have any attention of the institutional fund.

Your observation is right, But I dont believe it was really an altcoin season instead we can call it a few altcoins boom. because not all altcoins are gaining much traction unlike before 2017-2018, for example, the Tron and Tezos are not doing much movement besides both are also top-ranking Altcoins thats I dont believe that altcoin season is here.
Many altcoins double or more than double their price and you say there is still no altcoin season. They rise, fall and rise again, many rounds and I see the altcoin season is there with us. It will stay with us as it only slowly follows the bitcoin. I mean I believe altcoins will rise more than their price now.

They won't rise all as what happened in 2017 or 2018 as there are many altcoins now and capital will flow to each group of altcoins and pump them one after another. If you don't diversify your capital to many altcoins, you can miss many rounds of altcoin rises. You can hold one and get profit but miss many other good trains.

This time all about how good the progress that already made by the team.
if the team can deliver something good and investors will FOMO to buy such coin and the pump will happen.
Altcoin season is only the name of how people was calling it when the majority of altcoins get the bullish trend.

Perhaps you didn't read his post properly because he clearly stated that there is no alts season or the reason why he think the so-expected alts season will not come,
sometimes it is good to fully comprehend a post before replying, he also mentioned that dev need to understand that projects with real utility will be more sorted, the occasional pump and dump type of project will not survive nor receive support anymore, everything he said you are also saying, nothing is missing as far as am concern  Wink

Still new projects are getting launched now because they have no other better time than this.

The expectation of altcoin bull have been on and I think you have identified one big issue that will cause the bull happening. Until this starts to happen, the bull is still far. Altcoins won't move until traders start finding some valuable coins there and investing hugely. This was what happened in the last bull for altcoins. More investors need to come up to trade hodl and buy into altcoins then ROI with start up , profit also generally.

Good altcoins are doing great right now even if there’s no hype and I guess we should not wait for any hype because that is not healthy. Altcoins season can still become strong this year and I’m expecting the second run of the up trend since good altcoins successfully survive the pullback and now its time to make a new peak again, this is my thinking right now and I’m waiting for this moment.

It was immediately clear that we would not see the same altseason as in 2018. Now, in order to enter the market and give a profit of hundreds of percent, you need to come out with a finished product. Many people have already been burned and believed in the fairy tales of most projects before, now such projects are traded at x0.1 of the ICO price.

Of the finished products that could enter the market in the near future, there are very few projects. I would highlight Dfinity - this project already creates hundreds of its own applications, but even in it there is no confidence in a large profit from private sales.

Indeed the current situation now is different from before so we cant expect the history will repeat itself. Most investors are into bitcoin due to the huge increase, and its understandable why they are switching their alts to hold bitcoin.

Thus there's no alts season at this moment though it will happen sooner or later. Lets just be patient and take advantage the altcoins that are currently in affordable price. It will be worth it in time.

only few of them will be valuable. one should be careful buying alts that have no strong foundation or have no strong use case. as we have seen, only those with strong dev team can really exist long time. it really depends on how their respective dev is sustaining the progress of the coin. because once the community learned that there's no more activity going on, they will just move on to the next. hard to trust alts for long term investment. better stick with btc.

Altcoin season is only the name of how people was calling it when the majority of altcoins get the bullish trend.
