Seen there are still people having issues with the strongu bins..

I guess one of the most common failures ist the freq stopping at 170 and no hashing at all.

1.) Dismantle the whole creature and gently check if the tiny capacitors on the hashboard are still properly soldered onto the board. (470 yF/ 16V)
If not replace them with equal ones with wirelegs. It's a pain to preheat and solder the original ones with the shortlegs..

2.) Fire up the bin, wait 10 min. Get the Antminer D5 firmware and flash it. Yes right! the antminer Firmware. An Error Message will occour, but at least the old buggy shit will be wiped.

3.) Let it run for 10 min and get the strongu U2 firmware (SIA). Flash it and let it run for 10 min and then use the original firmware. Flash it.

Now it should find both boards again and start hashing. It will take a couple of minutes to reach the max.

Another problem are the fans. To run them more silent the Antminer fans are a good choice. (Nidec Ultra Flow, 1.63A) but make shure both are new. If one of the original fans start to die the miner will go crazy.. (resulting in the software to kill itself?)
On the control board there's a 3 pin connector next to the 4 pin fan connectors. The black wire of the fan plugs should be on the same side as with the 3 pin plug. In case the replacement fan wires are interchanged use a plier and pull off the plastic socket und turn it 180. (or solder the end of a dead fan in the correct order onto the new and most likley to short cabeled new fan)

Anyway.. don't forget to reset the stratums with your own credentials and keep hashing.

I see some ads on google and they advertise these miners has a hash rate of 660 GH/s are these fake numbers ?
If you check on the StrongU website i see there is only 1 model with 420GH/s

It only works in cold rooms. If temperature of the room ups to 25 celsius it burns,  sooner or later..

Hello guys

First of all, sorry for my bad English. Well I have a problem with my stu-6. Yesterday it was mining normally, I turned it off for a few minutes and when I turned it on again (without touching and changing anything) it stopped working.
Now none of the 4 blue leds light, only the two yellow lights of the ethernet cable (and neither of them blinks, just light). The fans do work but as I say none of the 4 blue lights and no hash at all.

Someone could help me please? Thank you

These were the biggest piece of junk miners I ever bought.  2 of them I noticed are completely dead now.  Won't even start to try hashing.

My machine is working on 1 board since yesterday. one board doesn produce more than 0.35gh with temperature somwhere around 35C and frequency is rising and lowering. 0 accepted and 0 reyected shares.
The other is fine. its yust confusing that the bad board is not totaly dead...

something else i found about this miner:

Re: Anyone mining with or have a StrongU STU-U6 dash miner?
Post by h4shpin » Sat Dec 28, 2019 7:42 am

Hi, just came across this meanwhile older post.
Donno if you've got your miner now, got mine in mid dec.

First: Stay away from StrongU. Long story short, they suck! Big time!!
Miner was used and full of dust, stratum and address showed that it was heavily used to mine the shit out of it. Bevor plugin i had to unscrew the fans and 'undent' the grilleys and confect a cable that would fit into the non EU standard socket.
Later on i had to unscrew the obviously avalon styled case again to fix the ridicolous airguide that for some reason got inserted into the space where another hashboard was supposed to be.

I assume the missing board would have been the missing 220 Gh/s to reach the proclaimed 660 Gh/s that was reduced to 440 after orders and payments.. (at least the resellers corrected the values, but not StrongU on their own homepage, such idiots)

Well, after couple of days i checked their site again, downloaded the recommended upgrade in hope to squeeze some more HR out of that garbage bin, but instead the HR dropped to less than what the old D3 were able to come up with.
By the way, it was no surprise to me that even after checked the 'keep settings' all the pool data got replaced with their own f2 pool data.
(XxJzaL4tiEf433RSceQKEXAE1ETgfG7zrm, XiSxkcz5u8onPs9a7nevLK219zDeHTkGZg -> both belong to wallet: 578806)

Lookup the addresses that were in the pools and their first occourence showed that this wasn't just routine checks, they mined like hell!!!
One of their own videos with some DCR miner revealed that they've used the same f2 stratum (for DCR of course), the respective address and the same password as on my machine. Scumbags!

Diggin a bit deeper brought me to the hidden menu (MinerMonitor). It can be found be either replacing the last word in the browser bar or by mouseright -> inspect element. And surprise, surprise, not a single chip without errors!
Unfortunatley no other entrys were visible, nor any logs..

Update: pretty scary shit, most of the files that ran after updating contained fragment of some DCR/HC miner. Beeing not a rocket scientist my assumption is that the few Gh that i could see is the blake part of the x11 algo that gets done, anyway.. the trashbin keeps restarting all the time now, loosing it's cgminer and i'm right about to use that piece of shit at new years eve to stuff it up with some hardcore firecrackers.

original V1.7 firmware on nicehash

new V1.8 firmware

strong u6 v1.8 hashrate on nicehash

difference is more than 20 GHs and so far no problems, but there could be in the summer

Have you measured the power usage difference . I assume it uses lot more power then if generating more heat.
Manufacturer website still only firmware V1.7

it seems that this miner just dont like temp. over 50 degrees, in first test fans were moving at 100% to keep temperatures below 50,
I transferred miner to the original colder place where it was before and run tests again, here are the results:

according to strongu webpage they are official resellers

extracted 1.8 image is much alike as 1.7, same structure and pasword protected system.tar.gz file (like 1.7)

kaspersky checked file - no threats detected

just found this strongu u6 firmware link from cryptominerbros.com, version is 1.8 while offical firmware is v1.7

I wouldn't try to download something that claims to be official firmware but official firmware of strongu is older version. By looking at it looks like a scam.

Yes, both are the same. I tried many different options. It’s bad that there is no way to view logs in the firmware.

I seen someone updated to latest firmware and got less speed about 320 mh/s , did you try older firmware. I see current latest available is v1.7

Both ASICs had the old firmware from November 1. I updated one ASIC with new firmware from November 25 - it did not help.

I got two U6 and both have the same problem - when mining, the frequency does not rise above 320 MHz. At the same time, consumption is 1400 watts and a speed of 140Gh. I got two D5 for $ 4000.  Cry
I don’t understand what could be the problem.  Huh

Dont you use it in extremly cold or hot conditions?
What Is the chip temperature? My are around 70°C
Ambient temperature + 5 - +10°C. Chip temperature 41 - 43 °C

Try to give it into 20-25°C cos of for example obelisk SC1 was too cold and it runs for 60% of expected hashrate.
I tried to install one ASIC in the box, but after 30 minutes of operation it turned off due to overheating of the chips. The frequency also remained a maximum of 320 MHz.

Weird, and you have 2 machines and both do the same? I have 3 pcs and all have the same freq 550mhz but 2 of it takes 2200W and 1 of it takes just 1900W - with same hashrate and all the other results...

So sorry for that, it was just my hope its the same as the Obelisk.

Ill still count it as a temperature problem.
Yes absolutely no LOG and thats a big problem, hope for new firmware soon.
Only thing you can do is in that Debug window give there for example number 1 and press that blue button (use on your own risk), nobody know what this does but this fixed one of the miners for me.

Well Im trying to use that only button that can change anything - DEBUG.
IDK what does this button do, but one of the boards was missing in my miner. Ive set it to 3 (just random low number) and the board is visible and hashing now.
That button resets your settings to factory default  as far as i know.

at least they replied, they are still alive Smiley
Yes asked them also if they declared bankruptcy , answer was NO

still, I guess they won't make any firmware updates, atleast changing frequency should be available (not to mention undervolting to achieve lower consumption)

interesting is that miner is daily gaining average hashrate if I don't interrupt / change pools, it runs constantly now for six days on one pool and it gained 1 ghs  from yesterday (430 ghs now) while power consumption is 1920w

None of the ASIC manufacturers wants you to do your own over-clocks on miner. This could kill the hardware faster. You could only undervolt on overclock your miner when someone makes custom firmware.

of course they don't, that's understandable, at least they should allow to change / lower the frequency as all antminers have that option

we need someone like blissz, who made good custom firmwares for antminers, I tried to contact him over bitcointalk, but no reponse so far ..

Shipping it back to china cost more than the machine itself right now.

Ive wrote some emails to [email protected] but absolutely no response.

The other thing - SSH username and password?
Anyone?
Have you tried

Think these have the same as Bitmain asics, but not 100% sure

sorry, no link, I was just reffering what was stated in eastshore message, which I obviously read it in the rush, where it says that they are on brink of bankruptcy

btw eastshore is doing great and will be my first choice for buying next mining equipment Smiley
I know couple of mining farms which went in balls deep with these miners. And when they where supposed to be shipped, they where trying to do refund as the specs changed. But Strongu refused to give them refund. This might be one of the reasons why they possibly could make bankruptcy.

I just had one of the ASIC boards die Angry. It's been running for about 20 days! I bought it through Crypto Miner Bros. I'm reaching out to anyone and everyone to get a refund, replacement or something before this $1900 (pre-order) miner becomes a paperweight!

It's been slightly profitable in mining, but after you include the cost to set them up (power connectors, cabling, etc.) I'm deep in the hole. I'd suggest you stay far away from them. Far far away!

No way, does the whole miner stops when hashing board not working on these?
This is why i hate asics . People say that is easy setup mining including me Cheesy , but actually they are not as reliable as GPUs, CPUs and FPGas which is accessible to everyone. And 70% people who ever buy they most likley will loose money.
1900 for one miner?  This is crazy for the performance they have. We had few orders with 1850 , with the specs advertised 660gh. But we shipped to our customers 2x miners as Strongu compensated us for the hash loss.

today is slightly above 2 eur on nicehash (with electricity cost deducted)

but let me express gratitude over eastshore.xyz for fulfilling their promise over U6 miner, they stated that they will send another unit as substitute for Strong company becacuse they failed to make a full spec promised product

in the meantime strong declared bancrupcy, and eastshore decided to refund half of payment, which arrived today (867.50 USD at paypal) Smiley

actually 820,35 USD received becacuse enormous paypal's fee 47,15 USD

you have a link on their bankruptcy ?

I know from other vendors that they are struggling to supply the pre-sold units.

That’s pretty decent handling from eastshore in the crypto miner world.

StrongU going bankrupt is good news for whoever got their units. At least profitability will not fall due to flood of X11 miners.

Is anyone buying these or mining a profit with them? Seems last week the electric cost was about equal to the mining profit, but today the profits seem to be a bit more than the electric cost

it can be extracted till system.tar.gz, which is reported as unknown format or damaged file

tried to open with binwalk and it says OpenSSL encryption, salted, salt: 0x-5FA161C57EF5216B

Wow what a difference in advertised wattage/Hash, that one really hurts. I got hit hard with the D3 from Bitmain and I pretty much swore off asics then and there.

Yes got hit really hard on D3 also, had a lesson didnt go in to heavy on these STU-U6. Think the safest if you really want an asic is to buy latest BTC miners, as they have the most advanced technology as it has been the oldest. You could get lucky and your miner could be profitable for few years.

Yes got the extra units, but really no point on them as the cost of power is to high to make profit here. Better less units with better efficiency Wink

Maybe that's their game. Advertise ridiculous efficiency to justify an inflated price for inferiour equipment
just to get the sales. Then they give away extra units when customers complain and still manage to make a profit.

A plausible way to liquidate old stock.
Interesting business model...ha

Looking at their engineering results, I doubt they are that smart.

Funny thing, the first batches performed 450-480gh at 1900w.  The "free" units I got recently, ya pieces of shit.  1 hash board works in both units.

I got mine in early November. Haven’t seen anyone get 660.

You should have got extra units as compensation from StrongU.

And these units are heat sensitive, 75C on chip and they re-start.

Something about those numbers doesn't seem right.

1300 / 2050 = 0.634146341

440 / 660 = 0.666666667

Allowing for error these look pretty equal. 50% more power for 50% less hash.
Coincidence?

Well yes about 1/3 less efficient. But i assume the power would be less 30% from 1300 if one hashing board missing...ha . It is other way around.

So StrongU STU-U6 miner for X11 mining algorithm is been a big failure. On pre-sale few month ago i purchased it with advertised setting 660gh/s at 1300w .Which to me looked like a very attractive deal. But as usual with Chinese asic manufacturers there are problems, the deal seemed to good to be true. So finally we have received the miner which supposed to deliver in October 2019, but got delivered in December 2019. And delivered not as it was advertised, received specs :

440 GH/s mining speed
2050 power usage from the wall
This supposed to be the most efficient asic miner for Dash coin , as the Spondolies SPx36 miner is very overpriced and uses lot more power. Dont get me wrong StrongU STU-U6 is still most efficient publicly available Dash Coin miner. But it is not as efficient as it was advertised. My power cost is quite high and watt per hash was 2x better when pre-ordered, and received a miner which nearly doesn’t cover my power cost.

I seen some posts that some people have ordered before me and have received miner with the specs it was advertised. So i assume they have had some bad silicon run or some other issues why they cannot reach full performance.

Has anyone received full performance 660gh at 1300w?
