I mentioned this idea in the Greece coin thread, but I'd think it'd work for any nation coin.

Why not restrict freebie coins to those who sign up using an email address from an Ireland internet provider only? So you can try restricting IP too as an extra safeguard, but also only accept accounts using emails linked to internet companies that exist in Ireland.

No idea what internet companies there are in Ireland, but just pick a group of main ones, then restrict the coins to 50 per Irish email, once per IP. You will miss those who use small, oddball internet providers, but it may be the easiest and fairest way to go.

An IP restricted faucet would also work, if you can figure out how to do it.

And if there are any coins leftover after the airdrop, donate them to some charities in Ireland.

Gaelcoin - Ireland's first Crypto Currency
Hi,

As some of you might have noticed Gaelcoin has launched on Friday (Ann here https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/gaelcoin-irelands-first-crypto-currency-official-thread-506076 ) and the goal is to give out 50 GAC to every Irish citizen and even though the coin is getting a good amount of expected bitching I do really want it to succeed, especially the distribution among the Irish.

Now I was hoping if any of you would have some insights on what would be the most democratic and data protective way of doing so...

Our initial thoughts have been on verification by ID/Passport but that might put a whole lot of people off, we are also looking at methods to restrict access to the sign-up page coming from Irish IP addresses only with the IP blocked after successful sign up (to avoid multiple accounts).

Hoping for any good insightful ideas (and not too much moaning and bitching)

Thanks !
