These scammers even upload such apps by evading Google's app upload rules. So we can't just blame Google for everything. Because when Google finds a report that the app is fake, they delete it from the Playstore as soon as possible. So before installing any app from Playstore, it should be thoroughly verified. Because if you are not careful, there is a chance of falling into any such scam.

It's not always guaranteed until there's like a flood of reports on that same app. One or two might go unnoticed since there are like so many reports and understaffed.
So true. Google only notices a scam app if there are batches of reports that's coming for that app. But if it's just few and tolerable, they'll just skip it and wait until there will be more reports coming on it. They're the same with YouTube since they're owned together by the same corporation. In scams on YouTube, there are videos that are uncaught and only will be removed if there's a lot of report. That's why the interaction of the community is important to take them down.

Sure, people should be more careful when downloading the apps and ideally do it directly from developers website but with just a few tweaks Google could reduce number of fake apps considerably. How hard is to manually check an app from the developer that is submitting first app on the Play Store? Just this would be enough to reduce most of the fake apps, but I guess that would mean hiring more people.

Regarding the time in which Google removes reported apps, they slack in that regard too, just take for example fake Trezor wallet. It was uploaded two and a half weeks ago, has hundreds of fake reviews, 1,000 + downloads and even Trezor warned about the app via Twitter (and probably reported it to Google) and that app is still there. If that is not negligence than I don't know what it is.

It shows that playstore is a big failure and not safe, there have been tons of reports from different angles about scam apps on playstore since 2020 which I believe it's the year that many more fake app showed up and yet google did nothing about it, they have turn so slack about keeping their own users safe, google playstore isn't safe anymore, I have stopped using their service

This is getting quite serious every day there is a new topic about fake apps on Google playstore. Why is Google not able to takle this issue? They have so much money can't they create a software to monitor such fake apps. They themselves are ruining their reputation.

It is better to avoid Google play store for downloading any kind of apps who know there can be fake clones of big apps too.

They have tons and tons of reports to handle. You can imagine so many apps being published on the platform, and not to forget those apps that might be approved as legit, only to turn malicious afterwards.

At least almost thousands of applications that are included in the Playstore are ready to be downloaded, but some fake applications are also now passing through several requirements, so it is only our inner awareness that we need to know.
Maybe there are already a myriad of complaints about the application, it's just that it's all useless that we report.

After they notice the continuous pumping of the dot also people are investing in it it's not new that they create another phishing application for DOT.

Is there any wallet already supported by the Polkadot? I'm just using binance and see this growing coin.

Yeah, you can check out the list of supported wallets @ https://wiki.polkadot.network/docs/en/build-wallets. Lots of them are for the iOS and Android.

Then there is another Polkadot wallet available with a few hundreds of downloads,  but I am not sure which one is fake, and which one is real.
Who knows if any of those on Google Play Store are real.  Huh

Some of the android phones already give the legit application and some of them do not like they are giving all the possible searches but most of the time they already give it. The same concept if you are trying to browse in Google Play through the web they are just giving the list so you can find out which is fake but if those person lack knowledge about the legit one surely they will get caught in this fake app.

Polkawallet developed by polkawallet limited is the official android wallet, find it here- https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=io.polkawallet.www.polka_wallet
I'm more active in the polkadot community and I can assure this one is original. For your info, this is also shared on their website. Polkawallet.io is shared in their official website- https://polkadot.network/build/
Hey thanks for the assurance, obviously I didn't see this in Play store and that one that pops up is the fake app that I reported in my original post. And I have a feeling that the link I original posted is fake because of the details.

Seeing how popular Polkadot is at the moment, no wonder that scammers are faking their website. If anything, scammers are easily adaptable and will choose most popular projects at any given moment. Worst of all, that often works. Good catch by the way!

This is always sad news. To give a touch of humour, I was thinking that this (the fact that scammers adapt to a specific new alt in order to fake it) may be a good indicator about when is a good moment to buy...

Thanks for sharing cryptomaniac_xxx, I was already aware of Bitcoin's fake wallets in Google Play thanks to this thread, but it is good to know this also.

It's no wonder when there are altcoins that are busy being discussed like Polkadot, the scamers are ready to fake it as closely as possible, whether it's from the domain or even the wallet that scamers have provided on Google Play.

So it will be surprising news if someone gets caught in this trap even we all know from the thread Rikafip made about fake Wallets that are already available on Google Play so I hope the people of this forum will find more wallet lists fake to publish so newbies and newcomers to crypto know about it.

Polkadot has a list of all wallets that support the coin here:
https://wiki.polkadot.network/docs/en/build-wallets

I have only heard of the Polkadot-JS. It's a web wallet that can be connected with Ledger hardware wallets and is developed by one of their teams called Parity.

Signer is a mobile wallet that works both on iOS and Android and is also developed by Parity. App Store and Play Store links are on the homepage.
https://www.parity.io/signer/

I wouldn't trust any other wallets besides the ones they mention in their Wiki > https://wiki.polkadot.network/docs/en/build-wallets

Also I spotted a fake Polkadot application as well in Google Play, recently created, January 13,2021.

Hm, link of the app that you shared leads to a different one than on the screenshot. That app is on the Play Store since December 2nd .

On the other hand, this is the link to the app that you shared on the screenshots and is released on July 3rd 2020 (updated on January 13th).
Code:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=io.polkawallet.www.polka_wallet

Criminals are into Polkadot (DOT) right now as they have created a fake and phishing site:

Code:
https://polkadots.network/

They added an "s", the original is https://polkadot.network/. DOT has been in the spiking in the last week, posting a huge 100% gains and obviously, scammers what a slice of the pie.

Also I spotted a fake Polkadot application as well in Google Play, recently created, January 13,2021.

Code:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tazg.polkaddotpvortfolio

Maybe @Rikaflip can add this to his growing list of fake apps in Google Play Store.
