Can someone tell me if adding an extra usb fan to keep the jalapeno cool would improve the hash rate or make the chips last longer? is it worth the trouble?

BFL chips don't start creating hardware errors till 85 degrees and don't start throttling till 90 degrees, so this is not as big a problem as you might think...

Best of luck. I bet they are swamped with important things.
Because of the big steps by diff increase I would leave the device is running as well with the work around of full powered fan.
I bought them as 2nd hand so I'm unsure how warranty is usuable.

Because of the nonce answers maybe my part is an moday morning devices ;-) I hope it will run as long as possible.

Cheers...

Well if they get back to you it could be a warranty issue. I have been waiting since the 2nd for a reply about a fan and power supply. I wouldn't hold my breath. I don't really want to do anything to change from factory until the factory parts all work.

Best of luck. I bet they are swamped with important things.

Hi,

sometimes the fan of my Jalapeno stops spinning an so the head will go up to more than 65 ° C.
The fan itself looks like not the problem. Possible a problem with the temperature controlling the speed of the fan?

The second problem was the heatsink was not correctly srewed. It looks like the head sink rubber plates between the chips and the heatsink was been disrupted. Because of removing the fan to check them (it isn't really corrupt) I've replaced the rubbers now by heat sink grease. I connected the fan now directly to run with max. speed. The good is, the temperature is now at 42 ° C.

But in fact, I wonder me that I got such an error and I think this is an factory problem. Can anybody confirm that behavior?

Cheers...
