What are faucets?  Huh

Could somebody answer this ignorent newbie please?  Huh

Honestly mate. i know you might be new here but if you want a detailed description of a faucet and what is they do you're better off googling it. For what you make from them it's not even worth going into detail about it. Just google it dude!  Undecided

To be honest I would recommend you to stay away from both the options. I believe that faucets never give you good returns on investment unless and until you have a strong referral network under your profile to work for you. On the other hand, if you are talking about cloud mining contracts then again, stay away from it because most of the cloud mining companies at the turn out to be the loss-making ventures or pure scams. There are several other ways which will help you to earn Bitcoin and altcoin, after all, cryptocurrency is just another form of money and you have to earn it in the same way that you earn regular fiat money. However, the radius of cryptocurrency is much higher than that of the Fiat currencies.

Both is not good all of mining site is scam and faucets takes so much of your time but you will earn almost nothing.
I suggest to join bounty campaigns like twitter, fb, telegram.
you can found it here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=238.0

And there is a services board here you can offer something for example you are good at designs. You can post a thread there and ask for btc payment.

Yes that right they can use thier talents to offer services or they can also sell thier items in the marketplace. Theres a lot of way to earn in btctalk instead of faucet or online mining which is totally just a waste of time.

i want to earn bitcoins and other altcoin. to those who are knowledgeable where do you suggest to start first?

I dont recommend your money to invest in mining site almost all cloud mining are scam, you can find legit site but the contract for 2years pretty expensive better to invest in GPU or ASIC if you really want to mine crypto. Also faucet it will take you forever to gain 1BTC or 1ETC lol. dont waste your time in faucet better join airdrop in bounty campaign here in forum.

None of both. Faucets give little to nothing. Most(if not all) cloud mining sites are scams. You want to earn bitcoins or other coins? Your best bet is to actually go get a job and use your earned wages to buy bitcoin or other coins/tokens. I would suggest earning through signature campaigns for the people who have been here in bitcointalk for probably half a year, but since you're a new member, you're pretty far from earning significant amounts of money through signature campaigns.
Very true mate also in addition it is better if they offer thier own service to earn bitcoin than wasting time in claiming faucets.

faucets are simply taking long time to get meaningful amount but you may try if it's ok with you
mining sites require initial investment and most of the time they will turn scam at the end

do what you usually do to earn money on the internet but ask/find one that will pay in crypto currency
for example, if you're into writing/blogging... find ads services that pays in crypto to put on your current blog
or open a new account on steemit and start writing anything related to crypto
then after accumulating enough amount you can try trading altcoins

neither one of the two options you named are any good!
faucets will waste your time, may infect your computer when you visit them and they will give you such a small amount of coins that is not even worth 1 tenth of the effort you put in!
the mining "sites" are either scams or will turn into one sooner or later because selling mining contract is not even profitable for them. you will end up paying a lot more money in fees than you earn at some point. for example now that price of bitcoin has come down the maintenance fee of all the cloudmining sites is higher than their payments.

if you want to 'invest' then just do it directly in bitcoin. and if you want to earn then go do a real job instead of wasting your time. then use that money to buy bitcoin.

Helped much, thanks for this. I tried faucets and it's a total crap. It wastes so much of your time which is so precious and giving a really close to nothing return. I'm afraid to try mining sites because of the reviews available.

You can try faucets, but believe me, you'll never earn anything there, only some cents/satoshies. But you'll not lose anything in most cases. But cloud mining is a total scam in most cases, so just stay away.

Forget about faucet. It is a complete waste of time to any serious crypto enthusiastic. The best thing to do is to invest in it. Either mining, holding or trading.

I double those who say to choose neither.

I'd take part in ICO bounties and airdrops massively to get some tokens which can be exchanged to cryptocurrency later. It requires some effort, but with the number of successful mooning tokens it is paid off.

If you absolutely have to choose between the two, you may as well go for faucets. You basically lose time to get chump change (and that's being generous), while you actually lose both time and money from most cloud mining sites. Neither option is ideal though, obviously, as others have pointed out.

What exactly are you looking for anyway? If you want to use your extra time to earn money, you should take a look at bounties, which are likely infinitely better than most faucets. If you have the money and want it to grow, buying crypto and HODLing/trading is less risky than putting your money in mining sites. Good luck!

My personal opinion is don't do both. Because faucets are time wasting in this time and most mining sites are the scam. If you are a beginner, it's hard to find legit and scam sites. But you can buy bitcoin and hodl them or trade with altcoins. You can invest your bitcoin to some good ICO projects (Do your own research before invest any ICO project) and participate in some bounties. There are too many options better than faucets and cloud mining. Smiley

For starters, you can start with bounty projects and air drops. After a certain time as you begin to understand crypto system and exchanges. You can start to practice trading with small amounts  to begin with. If there is capital that you do not need in the near future, you can analyze a particular coin, token and buy for profit  for the future.

I started with faucets before so if you just want to have fun, you can try it but it isn't enough if you're looking to earn for a living.

Mining sites? leave them and don't ever try to invest to any of them.
