This game has a really good 3d graphic:) Just look at the screen! Smiley His hand looks amazing! Cheesy

Hehe. It really was great game.
1995

It was 19 years ago ... man... Smiley

I remember this, that along with Heretic, Chaos Engine etc. Awesome games that defined an era of gaming, for me at least.

Yes game like those changes a lot in gaming history.

And I remember one important thing what was most amazing in "old" games - a gameplay! Smiley a story! Graphic was like it was - but those games had a spirit.

Crusader: No Remorse is another one of my favourites

It was a 1st game that I bough as an not-pirate copy Tongue Tongue

This game was awesome and I remember till today few missions and cutscenes Smiley

Crusader series all of them very good!
And I think even "No regret" was quite better Smiley

Cheers!
ah i missed out on "No Regret".
nearly every game i played in those times i got pirated from friends, cause i didn't have the pocket money for legal copies.
monkey island II, Worms and Grand Theft Auto were the first i really spent money on.

even today i dig the pre-rendered isometric perspective in these old titles. i like it so much more compared to most games with 3D-Engines because of the amount of detail in the assets & environments.
e.g. here's a full view of a Little Big Adventure level
and my all-time favourite Fallout: http://img4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20090411155652/fallout/images/d/d3/Fo2_New_California_Republic_Satellite_View.jpg

Pizza Connection aka Pizza Tycoon

Pizza Tycoon scared me shitless as a kid... not like Phantasmagoria or other "horror" games where you expect it. Something about it deeply disturbed me, like I thought the developer was playing with me before stabbing me through the monitor. Idunno -- you know how kids can get paranoid about strange things... maybe it's time I face my deepest fear...

Definitely XCOM, though, as a favorite. I still pick it up every few years. There was also some kind of drug tycoon/sandbox/rpg/whatever game I liked which I haven't been able to ever find (I did find Homey the Clown again and have no idea why I enjoyed that game when I was little, though at least Castle of the Winds still holds up). I don't remember the FPS games I played as a kid... they all looked about the same. Cheesy

really  Cheesy?
well it never frightened me as a kid but i learned at the innocent age of 10 years the harsh reality
that you could make more money in this game by smuggling weapons between countries than selling pizza.  Grin

Sadly i missed out on the the whole XCOM series (only played the reboot last year and loved it), i played a lot of  turnbased strategy though when I grew older like Jagged Alliance 1 & 2 and Fallout 1 & 2.

the only crime related games i can think of from these times are Grand Theft Auto, Crime Fighter and the textual based Drug Lord.

damn i sank so many days of my life into these games...and it was worth every second  Grin

edit: I just found this nice list of worthwhile dos games

486 sx 33Mhz 0.5 MB RAM

after I did upgrade to 486DX/4 100Mhz 4MB RAM Smiley

year 1993 or 1994.

Tongue

Wow I remember the difference when I upgraded my CPU from 486 SX to DX (with the dedicated maths processor) - it was amazing! I measured how fast a computer was by how fast I could do a 'dir /s' and have it complete Smiley
I also had an 8086, 286, 386 SX and DX - the whole chain...

Before my SX I had amiga 600 and C-64 for a long time Smiley and then 486.
But my friend was owner of 286 Smiley

Yes - difference between SX and DX was amazing Tongue hehe...

I remember when playing VIVI - I was using turbo button to slow down the game.
DX was too fast for Vivi. Was like Vivi on steroids.

I forgot about Monkey Island and the Lemings...

I think I played Dune also... I forget. Sooo long ago. Tongue

Oh remember those top of the line computers...
586 Intels, 133 Mhz (Blazing fast, 166Mhz if you were rich!)
S3 video by Silicon Graphics... (Total crap but better than SVGA)
Sound-Blaster 16 or Dolphin Audio... EAX was a bonus.
8MB of RAM, 16MB if you had a "Gaming computer"
400MB Hard-Drives with 100MB Zip-Drives
Force-Feedback MINI-Gameport controllers
640x480 resolution, 800x600 if you were rich (Which no dos game ran well on)

Oh, that was the next-gen...

Most of us had... this crap...
386/486 Evergreen Overclocked 99Mhz CPU's
SVGA Video
Sound Blaster (The original. You were lucky it had stereo, and MIDI was a bonus.)
256KB RAM, 512KB if you were rich
10MB Hard-Drives, 16MB Hard-Drives if you were rich
7.25 Floppy-Drives, 3.5 Floppy-Drives if you were rich
640x480 16-colors/256-colors-interlaced (16K colors if you were rich)

Oh, that was next-gen too...

Going to spare you the details of these systems...
Amiga (Top of the line media-computer. 16 sound channels. 32K interlaced-colors. Real games)
Commodore Vic-20 (Yummy, audio-tape-drives for data and cartridges!)
IBM-86/186 (With separate math co-processors)
Atari (Yes they made computers too)

I know what you are talking about Smiley

Sim City 2000. I was too young to ever really understand how to accomplish anything, but building and then destroying things was fun.

I remember thinking, "why do they even have money in the game if you can just issue bonds to get as much money as you want?". I guess the US government played a lot of Sim City, too  Wink

From the PC/AT DOS era, the original Warcraft and Warcraft II, X-Wing, Tie Fighter, Ultima III, VI and II, Day of the Tentacle, Wind Commander II, Loom, Albion, Command & Conquer, SimAnt, Abuse, Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, Secret of Monkey Island (and 2), Blackthorne/Blackhawk, Dune I and II to name a few blockbusters. I never liked the Doom series but Quake was ace. One that wasn't too famous but was great and stood the test of time nicely is "I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream".

From the PC/XT era not much really, since there were much much better platforms like Amiga, Atari ST. Even for the early AT era the Amiga was still much better, until around 1992 or so.

Also Doom and Tetris Smiley
OMG! Blood was so awesome! I remember Caleb (main protagonist) singing Sinatra's "Strangers in the night" while walking through cemetery.

Dammit, I can't remember the name of the game, but I literally spent days playing it.

It was a simple ascii-RPG game in the command line. Player had to walk around mazes, kill enemies, and collect various loot. The were several classes, spells, levels, etc. Maze, player, loot, enemies — everything was depicted with 1 ascii symbol.

And yes, there was no way to save the game (all saves were deleted after loading). But of course you could always backup the save file just in case.

Anybody remember the name of this one?

Rogue or a Roguelike game?
