First I can't stop laughing at the Huge Member - to good.

It was either that or Large Member. Now that I've thought about it maybe Massive Member would be even better. Alliteration always wins.

I'm not surprised it's been thought of, you tend to find a lot of the opportunities for improvement.

I am the smartest person. My uncle was a great professor at MIT for 40 years...but I'm smarter than him, I'm smarter than anybody*.

*Donald Trump quote. Don't ban me.

If the feature was to be implemented, It should also be limited to some specific boards as I see a situation were some users might misuse the feature as advert opportunities (i.e selling the pinned message spot to advertisers) I do observe same issue with platforms like Facebook and telegram with this feature.

I suppose that could happen, but I would find that not many people would have a thread that others deemed worthy of being advertised in, but if they do then maybe just allow it? Theymos already allows users to advertise in threads of importance so this would likely be a good barometer of that without him having to get involved on deciding what is and isn't notable. Alternatively, adverts could just be reported and staff remove them just like we do with off topic posts or ads. Users who repeatedly abuse the position could even be banned from doing so.

I'm not surprised it's been thought of, you tend to find a lot of the opportunities for improvement. It just came to me while navigating a few hardware threads where there was confusion about distributors. The local rules and sales/auction threads were a bit of an afterthought for me, but made sense that this is a feature that could be useful in multiple ways.

I'm not really worried about the sale as an advertising spot. The same rules would apply to being able to put an advert in your OP, which is available but limited. More people may try to just use this feature, but I would advocate for it being disabled for varying lengths of time if abused.

Requested it before as have probably others. It would be helpful to pin rules of certain giveaways or threads (enforcing local rules and so on) to avoid unnecessary spam. For instance, I have a thread for the Bitcointalk Premier League pool with the local rule that only people who paid to play in it can use that thread as it's for discussion of the pool and results, but you obviously get people posting in there that didn't read the op. It would be helpful if that info could be pinned to the top of every page.

Please note: This thread is only for those who have paid to play in the pool.

Every now and then there are threads in Mining that get long and tend to bury some valuable information or simple information about legit websites to order from or deal with. I was thinking it would be nice to allow thread starters to create a Pinnable message that appears at the top of each page. This would be helpful in any information thread that carries on for a long time or undergoes changes to a system. This Pin could document changes, report problems, maintain lists - really anything that could be deemed relevant to a thread. Some auctions or raffles might benefit from this feature as well - the bids, ticket holders, and winners could all be updated in these sorts of messages.
