My intention is, that this is only for me as user.
Each user has it's ohn "up/down" vote settings.

so this is not possible as nobody knows what is "my" favorite are

Eh.

I could easily see this being manipulated so that threads advertising a business would be spammed with +1s from alt accounts so that it would be tagged as "important". Vice versa for threads someone dislikes.

the "only" mark as read is only a proposal.
Sure, some other kind of "sorting" will be much better.

the best will be that this can completely customized by the user Smiley

This is actually a good suggestion, I very much like it as we get to grade each thread base on their overall importance but one question I have is, the only change would be one getting a important label as the other only read, right? Because if the one's with important label get some sort of sticky style where in the thread push towards up even with out a new post then those with low grade which haven't yet got any rating will be left down so hope this is not the case... anything other than that then will be nice honestly

Update: Some thing like this maybe

You remember the good old time reading newsgroups?
I do. And my favorite newsreader (gnus) has the nice scoring feature.

What about implement this also to the forum (or provide a NNTP access  Tongue )

what I mean for those who did not know:
All articles have a default score, which is X by default.
This score may be raised or lowered by some rules.
these rules (editable by my) may be:
- a specific user wrote this post +x or -x points
- a specific word is in the topic +-x  points

Articles that have a score lower than Y are marked as read.
Articles that have a score higher then Y are marked in another color as important.

what do you think on this?
if such is already possible, i glad if somebody can show me Smiley
