I prefer Zakir over Muhammed when mentioning me!
we sghouldnt even be allowed to do self mod threads... if you got something to hide then something is wrong.
OP this isnt directed at  you, i dunno anything about you, its just a general comment.

Sure. People only use moderated threads for that reason. You know what, let's ban the lending section because it promotes scamming. Nice thinking, General Smarts.

There are people who handle self-moderated topics in a good way. They make mods work very less. But most of the persons use this option in a bad way. I heard that some posts which are against OP but useful for others are deleted. It would be very bad and will promote scams in a great way. Try to remove it atleast from services and lending.
Kindly,

Yeah, I'm 50-50 on the whole self-moderated threads thing. They can be useful if you've got trolls attacking you but most of the time it's just twatty tiny tyrants who (ab)use this feature to either just delete criticism or any valid comments they just don't like. You're best to just not use the self-mod and report any off-topic comments or trolling etc.

Right... Because self-mod is only to hide something Roll Eyes

And how the hell can you hide anything with self-mod anyway, when users can freely create 20 other topics?

I couldn't find it now but theymos said that once.

Thank me later. Wink

Thank you! Smiley

It should stop that user to post in your thread, but you can't stop him from creating new accounts to post in your thread. Smiley

New user restrictions could help with that, but it seems they were lifted Sad

If you warn a user and user still post to your self-moderated thread, Report that user. User should be banned.

Does it actually work? Smiley

If you ask someone to leave your topic and they keep posting, they will be banned. PM me in such cases.

I thought mods don't get involved much here, especially when it comes to self-moderated topics.

Thanks for the tip, I will try it next time.

But still, such feature would make life easier for mods and topic starters.

Self-moderated topics are great.

What is missing, is the ability to ban people from posting there.

Otherwise they can be quite annoying, posting again and again after you've deleted their posts.

Can this option be turned on or does it require coding? Without it, self-moderation is incomplete.
