Hey awesome fellows! hope you all are doing great! Reaching out to introduce and request feedback on our initial Whitepaper draft. We have always taken the route of user feedback loop to improve our product which is now in Alpha and thought to do the same with our whitepaper. Community feedback and responses have always made us think the approach we take and we thought that before releasing the whitepaper, the same approach should be applied here as well Smiley.

EPNS Whitepaper Draft for Feedback

What is Ethereum Push Notification Service?

Ethereum Push Notification Service (EPNS) is a decentralized DeFi notification protocol which enables users (wallet addresses) to receive notifications and earn from them.

Using the protocol, any dApp, service or smart contract can send notifications to users(wallet addresses) in a platform agnostic way (mobile, tablet, web, fav. wallets, etc). The DeFi aspect of the protocol also ensures that the user receives and earns from those notifications.

Why are notifications needed ? What’s the story?

Blockchain still operates like the early era of the internet where you logged in to Gmail to check if a new email had come or went to Orkut to see what your friends wrote about you (yes, we are that old).

But that is not the norm today, services don’t expect users to come to them, instead they notify the users, you are probably receiving a notification about this email. That is the missing piece of the blockchain ecosystem which EPNS aims to provide. Infact, internally, we always tell our team this quote and am going to shamelessly put it over here as well: Apple changed the world with notifications in 2009, EPNS aims to make it decentralized in 2020 !!
