Well, this isn't early June, this is late June  Wink

BTC isn't $30 anymore; we've had a couple difficulty resets. The 5830, for example, has gone from a $12 a day card to $2 + change as of this Friday/Saturday when difficulty resets again.

I was honestly browsing NewEgg just last night wondering if I should get any more cards -- I have open slots -- but I decided that right now I need to make some of my initial investment back. The time to expand is pretty much over, except for maybe "deals" such as used cards.

I'm serious. If NewEgg brought in a couple hundred Sapphire 5830's tomorrow morning for $110 + free shipping, would I buy? I really think I wouldn't. Maybe I'd pick up one; who knows. But it would take 40-50 days for it to pay for itself after this Friday, which is the soonest I'd be able to get the card.

If I had started mining any sooner than I did, I might be in a better position to expand.

Ok, well thank you for your opinions, I do appreciate them.

I thought there was more demand for these cards (wasn't there a shortage?) so I was looking for a little more value than $100-$140 for the 305 MH/s 5830.

Also I would probably want a fee of about $15-$20 apiece for the custom BIOS flash for it to be worth my time (finding max stable core clock, underclocking ram, finding voltage, fan speed, taking the risk of bricking the card by flashing it, etc)

Maybe I'll just keep mining with them, hopefully MTGox will open back up soon and I can make some money mining  Cheesy

Have a good evening all

Have you checked the prices on bitminer.info?  Those are for new cards.  Take 80% of those values is my guess.

I'm interested in your 5830 for $100-$140 worth of bitcoins the day we "settle."

Also, your fee for plug-and-hash, you can take as an actual bitcoin.  I think 0.5btc is enough.

That's a risk with all trade, isn't it? Most gadgets are made in Asia, but shopping would get very confusing if prices had to be changed according to the exchange rate of the day...

And I was giving your feeler something to touch more than making an offer. I'm in Europe, so shipping and possible customs fees are an obstacle. But if we had been about to settle on something I'd honor the bitcoin price even if the exchange rate goes up.

I take it they've been overclocked? Not sure how much that devalues a used card.

I think this will work fine, as long as you want to sell them for bitcoins in the end.

Before this MTGox thing I probably would have, but now I don't have much faith in them.  What if I get paid $300 worth of bitcoins for several of my cards, then before I can cash them out they're only worth $280 ?   I'd really like USD (paypal? dwolla?)

Also I'm willing to edit the BIOS of these cards to have them automatically run at their max stable hashing speed (the speeds I listed) for a fee, so that the user simply has to plug-and-play

Ok, which forum should I post in to ask what my cards are worth in USD then ?

The description for this forum says it is for selling items for bitcoin, so... that's the currency I'm willing to discuss.

Depends a bit on make and model, but I don't think I'd pay more than 8-10BTC for a used 5850.

Your price estimates using bitcoins really do me no good, as who knows how many dollars 10BTC is?

I'd like prices in USD if you don't mind

And if anyone really is interested in them I can take pictures of each one (being used for hashing of course) with a timestamp written on a notecard (if that helps credibility?)

I'm thinking about getting out of the bitcoin gig and have collected these so far:

5850 - 400 MH/s
5850 - 345 MH/s

5830 - 304 MH/s

5770 CuCore - Unknown MH/s
5770 CuCore - Unknown MH/s

Could anyone tell me what these cards are worth to the BitCoin community ?

*Edit* - For a fee I'd be willing to edit the BIOS of the cards so that they automatically run at their highest stable hashing speeds, so that a new user would only have to Plug-and-Play
