I'm giving him 0.1 BTC and he's designing me a business card.

You don't have to give him donations, he said he's a freelancer looking for work.  Give him work!

Has he done it?

EDIT:
Never mind. He is doing a forum sig for me  Wink

Of course, I don't pay blind :p he gave me a few designs, so I paid half, and he gets the other half once we've decided on one.

It's good work, I'm quite happy

Rimbit, if you can contact the guy I have a suggestion. Begging will only get him so far. I suggest that he moves back to Australia or wherever his place of residence is, and starts working. There is a lot of work over here. He can then send the money back to his family, the AUD is worth a lot compared to their local currency.

People do this everyday, they move from their families to earn money to send back home. Its time he took his meds, killed the freelance ego and started working in his families best interest.

now then if you were to take maybe a couple litres of milk a couple KG of chicken some rice and veg can feed a family all week for 400THB which equates to £8 ~ $12

so why would a guy send out an international plea for help asking for internet gold, using a website that costs pretty much exactly what he is claiming to need ( a weeks worth of support to feed his family)

id say simply dont pay your internet bill this month.. thatll save you 600THB, add on the 400THB for the website hosting.. and you would have enough food for a few weeks

So he shouldn't complain on $48 a month taking care of 6 people, rent, bills etc. I guess your maths must be spot on and this guy is just a loser eh  Wink

More than 100 million people suffer from malnutrition in this world. There's war in Syria too.
As I'm not responsible for this situation, I don't feel sorry about it.

I have to agree with franky1, it might sound harsh but if they have the ability to cash out Bitcoins into food then I really doubt they are in such a bad place.

They have no friends or family to get fiat from? So bizarre.

Also it might sound cool to be an artist, but if the kids are a day away from starving then its time to suck the pride and get a job in retail or McDonalds. Begging comes after 500 resumes/CV's have been rejected for shit kicking jobs.

Anyway rimbit don't be deceptive, please add the reddit link.

so why havnt you donated to him, instead of just spreading a beggers plea for help?

he has kids so presumably gets some kind of social security/services/ government funding.

i guess he has internet and a computer, a moped to travel to a local bitcoin meetup to cash out his bitcoin, so if things are getting that dire.. they can be easy to sell, aswell as kids toys etc

he has a GF so that doubles the chances of them having a relative somewhere in the world compared to a single guy down on his luck. it makes me laugh when some of these plea's for help are asking a community of strangers for internet gold instead of local friends and family for a few FIAT which is still the accepted medium for food.

EDIT:
i know it does seem harsh, but if i was in a situation where pepsi is the only source of nutrition ( yes the guy ignored the plate in the photo and pretended all the kids an them had was a pepsi) then i would have easily have found lots of things to sell to make some money.

also for about $100 a year he should be paying into the social security system (3360THB under self employment) in return he would get support. after having similar situation happen to him before, i think he would be silly to have avoided paying social securty, especially with a family.

and ud be surprised how far $10 gets you in thailand, so his eager 'friend' that setup the website and paid for hosting 'just for a week or two support' really would have better off just giving him $10 (350THB)

if anyone wants to work out the currency, right now 400THB is about: (each line totals 400THB)
25 glasses of pepsi
9 litres of milk
11KG of rice
10 loaves of bread
4KG of boneless chicken breast
8KG of fruit/veg
6 meals in an inexpensive restaurant

now then if you were to take maybe a couple litres of milk a couple KG of chicken some rice and veg can feed a family all week for 400THB which equates to £8 ~ $12

so why would a guy send out an international plea for help asking for internet gold, using a website that costs pretty much exactly what he is claiming to need ( a weeks worth of support to feed his family)

I came across this article on Reddit and thought I would share this with the forum.
Apparently the guy is a freelance artist down on his luck Undecided.

Quote:
I am now asking the community for some help. I just need a little help for a few weeks to get me over this rough time. My and my girl have had rough times before, where we hadn't eaten for 3 days, just to make sure our kids have some food. Of course our kids never knew and we will never tell them.
But now its just even worse and we ate our last dinner together with no idea where we will be going from here.
I need to be humble now and ask if you can spare some bitcoin dust, so we can work out what to do over the next week or so.
