You can have the best technology but it won't really matter, what really effects value is how strong the community is and how wide the adoption is.

You are right, there are many analyzes that we must do before investing. If we do not understand then we will lose and I have experienced it.  Look at their competitors in the market. Will they beat them with their product? Will they have a working product for sale to produce revenue? A lot of these projects are like Netflix putting Blockbuster out of business.
