That's interesting... What was the item in question? I have had several chargebacks myself (but I am at another bank). It normally happens a few days after the transaction only, and my bank always called me before returning the money - I think they would not take it from my account without my authorization. (but if I did not authorize, then the account would be blocked pending an investigation) The last time, they invited me for an explanation, and when they were reassured, they sent a "funny" letter to the other bank (a German one, I think) which must have meant something like "everybody take care of their own customers, and all customers will be taken care of better". (PS: I never did anything illegal with my bank account, of course)

It was a miner. It seems like some banks call their customer before returning money and some don't.

I don’t know if it is even the right board for that however it might be interesting for everyone who had chargebacks or similar of REGULAR wire transfers/SEPA and YES this can happen.

Short version:
Seller sells item (for 207 Euro), after the item is sent – almost one month after the transaction, the paid amount is send from the Fidor Bank to Postbank without any comment or explanation AFTER one month on my account!
After complaining publically in the forum and sending some “nice” papers asking for the money, and reminding the bank that there is still a contract, I got my money back

However, my bank accounts were cancelled without reason (one gets cancelled in August the other one is already) – and now after the money laundering accusation is gone (state attorney has ceased this senseless accusation), the fidor Bank has closed down my Fidor community access (hoping that I shut up).

Here is the link to Fidor in UK (for people that don’t know fidor and don’t speak German)

https://www.fidorbank.uk

Document how one bank asks the other one to get money from customers that received a SEPA transfer:

Link to another forum (Coinforum), where the whole thing is written in more detail:

(Sorry, those are all in German (except the first one))

What did happen?

1.   An item was sold on eBay (shipping address and buyer bank account where matching with name)
2.   After the transaction was done, almost one month later the money was send without permission of the account owner to the Postbank from the Fidor Bank account of the seller
3.   Fidor Bank said only “this can happen” without any further explanation after asking (one day after the money was gone)
4.   Later after the problem was posted in the “Fidor community” the bank send some information (which didn’t help), saying that the Postbank had authorized the transfer (while I’m only customer of the Fidor Bank) – I should ask the Postbank
5.   After asking for the money over and over, I got it back – although I asked more than once: why and on what legal base – they still don’t want to tell me
6.   One bank account is already cancelled without giving a reason, the other one is cancelled to August (for both I got the cancellation letter AFTER complaining – on the same day)
7.   Later I got a letter from the police, explaining, that because of this 207 Euro there is an investigation regarding money laundering ongoing.
8.   The investigation against me was soon stopped – the state attorney ceased it
9.   I informed the bank with the letter of the state attorney, that the whole thing was stopped and asked to recant the whole cancellation of my accounts.
10.   They said: the cancellations stay
11.   I wrote this in the fidor community (internal forum of Fidor Bank) – they blocked me from the community
12.   Now they delete links and posts that other users post as well, especially with the document above - well some people might call that censorship

I just wanted to share my experience, sorry if it doesn’t affect you (if you are in countries without SEPA etc.).
