I don't think there's a problem with individual actors offering services for micropayments. The free market will decide through competition if such models will be successful. So I don't expect excesses there.

From my point of view the essential question of Bitcoin's future is whether it will remain fully decentralized or if corporate / government actors will try to overtake it by influencing the development process or attacking its fungibility.

Very good point.  The episode just depicts it in such a doom and gloom, yet completely plausible manner.  Regardless of which road Bitcoin ends up going down I'm in it for the long haul, just thought the show was eerily similar.

Great movie series! Highly recommended.

Bitcoin is just a currency and its not bitcoin's indent or mission to solve this kind of problems.
We need a coordinated effort as a civilization to watch over this things and make sure they won't happen.
Think about the fact that you're paying more right now to make use of bitcointalk, paying just 1 sat will actually be a good thing.
