Whats the deal with FileCoin... only thing I can see here is that it was created in 2014, looks like it died down but now they are doing a ICO via coinlist. Although, that site you need to be verified to be able to invest. Another Sia/Storj? I'm very interested in any sort of file/storage coins too bad I can't invest directly... I might just have to wait until i'm able to mine it.

its up to you if you are able to mine it thats better things to do so you can earn that coins without using capital invest .you just need your pc to mine it on your own.

But if you have capital to use to invest and you believe in that project . Why not buy it directly from exchange after ICO if you don't want to pass a KYC.

Come on, an incentivised testnet should start somewhere near Aug 17th. Don't loose your chance to earn some FILs.  Cool

I see that you don't even know that Filecoin mainnet will start this year, maybe even in September.

Everyone is welcomed to take part in "calibration" testnet right now, since the "Space race", an incentivised testnet phase, will be started in August. Hurry up to get all HW components together and configure and test everything!

Minimal HW requirements (from my own practice) are:

1) Modern AMD CPU with SHA extensions support (Ryzen 7 and above). Core clock matters, not core quantity.
2) 128 GB RAM and more.
3) 1TB NVME (better 2TB) for sealing process and swap.
4) Any TB on HDD dedicated for storing sealed sectors (I will use Raidz array of 13x10TB HDDs).
5) 1080Ti GPU (better 2080Ti since it will give you more computing power).

A good place to start is https://filecoinproject.slack.com/

Filecoin is a token with fundamental value
Today’s blockchains use wasteful Proof-of-work consensus. Filecoin is like Bitcoin, but with hard drives instead of hashers. The novel Proof-of-Replication function creates a useful and valuable storage service as a byproduct of the mining process. Miners are incentivized to be efficient: the more they store, the more filecoin they earn.
But Selling token of file coin was paused right now and i don't know what is going on there, i will share this information if i have got new update from there.

on the cover yeah it basically looks like a sia storj maidsafe type situation. Q: why cant you invest though? Filecoin just had a presale for 52m the normal ICO starts in 3 days so you have plenty of time if want to invest. Good idea for sure, actually has a real world application

It says on the coinlist that you need to be at 200k+ USD combined income with your spouse to be authenticated to be able to invest on the ICO.

I'm mining sia and have a few storj shares.. Not maidsafe i'll check that out.

I don't see anything about this coin that isn't already there. HDD mining is known to be not profitable (in case you invest money and expect return) so only hope is if they can do something about that, but then again for that there must be enough buyers for their storage...
