I am truly interested in cryptocurrencies.

I believe that it is precisely the interest in any business that is the basis for success. I remember once I read a book about talented people and geniuses. And one brilliant musician said: “I don’t think that I have any innate talent. In general, I don’t believe in talent at all. What people usually call talent is the result of hard work and continuous practice. Enthusiasm and interest is the driving force. After all, if you love something, you just can’t not to do it. And constant practice leads to an increase in skill".

I like to research a lot about crypto. After my researches sometimes I create a topic about something I learned, this can help others.

I`m sure that you can create interesting and useful content only if you recognize it yourself as valuable. Each of us perfectly knows how much time and effort he has spent on this or that research. No need to deceive others and even more so - yourself. If the information is of no interest to you personally, don`t you think that others will like it. People are drawn to sincere involvement in the process and the personal interest of the author. Only then they can look at the content created by him with the same genuine interest.

This effect is exponential. My first 20 merits were the harder. I produced a lot of good content when I joined the forum, and now I am receiving merits from posts I did not even remember anymore.

Our efforts are always rewarded. Perhaps not in the way we thought about, but they always pay off. The students have a good saying: first you work for Transcript of Records, and then it works for you. Before we get anything, we have to invest. But we always get a remuneration, even in those moments when we don`t expect it at all.

    • The most important: Make good quality posts and WAIT, don't expect merits now!. Good posts are the true merit sources, and they will be forever awarding merits to you!
After you create a history of good posts you will be receiving merits constantly, few ones each day. If your posts are good, people will read them, even if they are "lost" in page 10.
This effect is exponential. My first 20 merits were the harder. I produced a lot of good content when I joined the forum, and now I am receiving merits from posts I did not even remember anymore.

So be patient, write good content, help others. Merits will come slowly, one by one, but exponentially! If you post good content, you will get the merits you need.

    Next objective: 250 merits!!

Congrates mate! I simply love your statement so much. It totally reminds me of Seasons of change by Jim Rohn. Your rewards do not come in just one day after planting the seeds. You just have to keep going and the rewards will come naturally. You lose only when you decide to stop of give up.

Congratulations, you really deserved all these merits. I have seen your posts and a lot of them is a good read. This is true that if you keep working on your posts and improve your posting skills, then finally one day you will be rewarded.

Thanks for the advice to post on new topics with few answers. I did something opposite and searched for large topics because I thought that there are more people involved and many more users watch this threads. I was wrong and now when I read your post this is so obvious to me. If you post in such a big thread your post got lost between hundreds of others. Such a big thread has a few pages of fresh content every day so if your post isn't special or original enough, nobody will see it.

OP accomplished something impossible by accumulating so many merits in a short time. I really congratulate and admire. I hope to take advantage of your valuable advice.

Good man, welcome to the club.
The system is working no matter what.
I started from 10 and here I am, looking forward to Sr. Member.
I started too with 0 merit and now with 17 merits.  I was really love this system because it made me become a good poster (but not enough  Cheesy). Welcome me to the club.
The only way to do are post freely and don't expect for merits.
My motto here is : Don't talk for merit but talk for a good quality post.

    Hello guys!

I am new to this forum, I started using it just after the merit system was implemented, so I was one of the "lucky" ones as I got zero merit for free.

I was active in Reddit for some time but when I discovered this forum, I became addicted to it and I really enjoyed the merit system.
A merit differs from a Like (facebook) or an Upvote (Reddit), because sMerits are not free, you have to earn them to be able to give. So only really good posts get merited.

Anyway, I decided that I wanted to become a Full Member, and for that I needed 100 merit. That was pretty of a challenge. I made a deadline: I would like to get 100 merit before 120 activity.
I didn't expect, but I got 100 merit much faster than that!!

I am truly interested in cryptocurrencies. I like it's technology, I like to use it as a payment method and I really enjoy it as an investment. I think my love for Bitcoin and crypto made this path easier.

I want to share some of my thoughts about the merit system with some other people who like me love cryptos and are walking this arduous (but rewarding) path towards higher forums ranks:

    • Create a watchlist for boards you like, and visit those boards often.

    • Look for topics with few replies. Some questions and topics created are really dumb. But if you want you can provide great answers to those questions! You can even learn while answering a dumb question. I saw this Bruce Lee quote some other day:
"A wise man can learn more from a foolish question than a fool can learn from a wise answer "

    • I like to research a lot about crypto. After my researches sometimes I create a topic about something I learned, this can help others.

    • The most important: Make good quality posts and WAIT, don't expect merits now!. Good posts are the true merit sources, and they will be forever awarding merits to you!

This is so great advice for us that would like ro rank up.

Even me I would like to move into another rank someday but it is so hard to attain because of having a merit. However after a month that I've been started posting I thought that it was not a time for me to hurry to earning merits because there are so many members like me that dreamings to rank up. So they also striving and waiting to be awarded or get merit all of them.

Merit is a good implementation of this forum because it makes a good way for discussion of each thread. And because of the merit of quality posters existed. And merit one of the key to having a creative and knowledgeable members.

Always keep believing in yourself that you could
move into another level. Keep waiting and don't lose hope.

This is the spirit I love, which others agree to have flooded you with merits and I will be joining them soon. Your advise is nothing short of what I earlier advised. Complainers about the merit system are just not doing something right. When someone complains about not getting enough merit or how the system is targeted towards some set of people, I visit the thread to see if the claim is justified but unfortunately, a lot of them don't even worth a fraction of 1 merit.

This is a lesson for everyone in the above category that the community is not perfect, but the we also human beings that appreciate hardwork when someone is giving and even though its not coming, someone will definitely spot it at some point.

To some extent I agreee with you here, in cases where people learn and then pass knowledge on and when posters provide value to the community/ecosystem. The real issues lie with people who make little effort, if the shitposters actually tried to better themselves and the posts they make then there will be few people here who would moan about them.
I completely agree with Astargath.  I could care less if a person is here solely for the money--I, myself, would probably post less if I wasn't getting paid, though that's debatable.  I usually go way over the number of posts per week that I actually get paid for.  Nevertheless, we know exactly what the result is when people are paid to be here, don't speak English, and are required to write what amounts to a high number of posts per week in English.  We get shitposting.  And it doesn't matter if the campaigns increase the character count minimums, because then you just observe padded posts which are still garbage.

It's the effort part that's lacking in these people who are here solely for the paycheck.  If I was living in a 3rd world country where a signature campaign could pay my rent for a year, I'd sure as hell put a lot more effort into my posts than something like this:

Many people who scare the bitcoin down deeper, and I think because it wants to get a lower price and there should be nothing to be afraid of bitcoin prices.
this nonsense question because the principle being bitcoiner is to hold bitcoin to avoid loses during the price is dump, I think people panicking and scary are not fully understands the bitcoin rules as virtual currency they didn't the digital currency movement or waving their value because lack of studying about the bitcoin as currency.
There should be nothing to fear in investing or holding bitcoins, we can see the history of bitcoin prices to overcome our fear, the first start with a very cheap price the first bitcoin price was created.

These examples are all from the first current thread of Bitcoin Discussion, and any number of these examples would be easy to find.  These are complete crap, and my guess is that these individuals are not here to have a friendly chat with people about bitcoin.  They don't read replies, and they just post post post.  That, my friends, is the problem.

You are not a merit pursuit, but merit is chasing you now. Congrats !!

Lol this is pretty cool, I liked that!!! Thank you!

Since you're undoubtedly very successful at cracking the system a couple of questions for you.. did you participate in bounties in this journey or was your post history completely clean helpful posts so far?

I think almost 100% of my post here is clean, except for one or 2 posts regarding some airdrops, which I don't participate anymore, I think they are useless and not free (you pay with your personal data, KYC).

I didn't participate in any bounty, just some signature campaigns, but I am having problems being accepted (too crowded). A campaign that helped me a lot was Joe signature campaign (which i am wearing a signature now). This campaign was a good incentive cause I knew someone was going to read my posts.

I don't have any interest in Twitter or Reddit bounties because I think it's too much effort and you will learn nothing along the way. My recommendation is to stay away from them.
Translation and article bounties I believe to be better, as you will learn something along the campaign, and they will pay you better. I never participated in any of them either, and I don't plan to do so.

On the other hand signature campaigns are pretty cool as there is no effort, as I will post in this forum anyway.

Was this stuff that you mainly did in the Beginner's forum or was it scattered throughout?
I post mainly  in these boards: Local, Bitcoin Discussion, Bitcoin technical Discussion, Meta, Alternative Cryptocurrency, Economy, Politcs & society, Serious Discussions, Beginners & Help....

Also, I had the exact opposite experience where I got my first 20 merits almost immediately and have been in a drought ever since. Thank you and congratulations to you too!!

    what do you think?

could it be possible that users who are recognized have it easier to receive merit? you dont just have to write valid post. you have to write valid post and through that other users realize that you exist. and if you have something special - like a sig or an avatar you will be recognized later and the change to receive further merit is higher.

I think that when you build a good reputation and people see that you know what you are talking about (that you are not some random shitposter), you are likely to get more merits, as people will trust your opinions and analysis. This happens in real life as well, so no problem with that.

I've honestly wanted to research mining crypto, but with my technical shortfaflls, it's such a headache. I've wanted to participate more in the mining boards... but yeah, I just am not too competent in that field.

I think that if you like mining, go ahead. Do your research. I know very little about that as this is not my main interest. You probably know a lot more than I do. After your research, make some posts in Beginners & Help or Mining board with what you have learned. As someone said above, you will learn while writing a new post.

Engage in discussions about mining, and avoid that price discussions if you have nothing to say.

Props to you, OP.  I've not read any of your other posts, but you seem to be the kind of member who should be allowed to rank up, i.e., not a spammer or a scammer.  Hell, even Theymos merited your post here.

This post of yours should inspire others, especially for those who have been struggling (and complaining) how hard the merit system is and how it prevents other users from ranking up. The tips you have provided may serve as a guide for those who have been whining about how unfair the merit system is since they don't receive any merits. You're genuine passion for cryptocurrency has been key to your success, which has been lacking for those who have been desperately begging or fishing for merits yet fail to do so.

(Thank you for all the merit =) ) ~Lovecove!
Great post! I like your optimism and fun attitude! I didn't realize that having a post in a megathread or a "spam thread" still had the possibility of being merited.

I've been getting the impression that it's frowned upon to post in spam threads, no matter how great a quality your post has.

My low key goal is to get 100 merits too, before 100 activity, but I'm not really seeing that happening. I've been busy as of late with work, and so I haven't had enough time to devote to researching and writing a stellar bitcointalk post. But, I'm part of a sig campaign, so I'm still required to make a minimum amount of posts per week. For the past two weeks, I've found that I've been simply finding easy topics to reply to and just post something that's slightly thoughtful and not generic. I've been feeling a little guilty about htat, because I noticed I've been repeating myself about, "ETH TA BEING $360!!!" in more than two post replies.... eh... I felt like a broken record, lol.

I think the reason you've received so many merits is that you really put a lot of genuine effort into getting to know more about crypto, and posting about what you've learned so that others can learn too. That's definitely meritable, in it of itself.

I've honestly wanted to research mining crypto, but with my technical shortfaflls, it's such a headache. I've wanted to participate more in the mining boards... but yeah, I just am not too competent in that field.

Thanks for providing these merit insights, though! I've created a merit guide myself, but it's gotten its fair share of both critics and fans.

Nice to see the merit system working out, because while OP ranked up, there are thousands of people here who didn't and shouldn't ever rank up, and it's thanks to the merit system that this is the case.  So to all the garbage posters who start threads whining about how unfair it all is, that they're being discriminated against for being....whatever....this is evidence that creating the merit system was a good move.  A brilliant move at that.

Points taken.  Roll Eyes Hope there would be a lot of newbies that are frustrated and already lose hope that they will reach higher ranks in the forum that will read this and be more inspired and motivated like me to make posts with good contents. After all, the main goal of this forum is to share knowledge with everyone but this is being overlapped by the fact that most members here only wants to earn money for themselves that's why they are creating countless accounts just to spam the forum with useless topics for the sake on earning.

Good Read. And you know what creating a good history of quality posts works. Just like what I do in Reddit, I often visit those Redditors who have the most up votes or who currently have been doing good posts lately as I know they have the most to contribute in the community, I always give them an up vote in return. There will come a time where Bitcoin users will do the same. As if they see your name almost often you will receive a merit as you are reputable for contributing good posts.

Thanks everyone for all these kind words =D

+2 merits for this post. I can only give you this because I don't have extra smerit..
Thank you! You will do it sooner than you expect!

As for looking for topics with few replies; its most times tough to see good posts let alone good ones that have 'few' replies cause most of the posts you see are repeated posts that have been replied to many times. I think one has to be online 24/7 to catch up with good post and I'm personally not good at keeping up with it.

This is what I tried to explain. You do not need good posts with few replies (which are scarce). You can go to not so good ones, with few replies, and provide a great answer!  Most topics with 5 pages replies should have been locked already, no need to reply them!

with english as your mother tongue it is easier than in sub forums but of course far away from easy.

English is not my mother tongue, and I find that this was good for me!

I translate some of my posts to my local board (portuguese) and I find interesting discussions there as well. In my local board we have a completely different forum. There are other demands there. People lack of more technical discussions, and are eager for basic crypto knowledge, such as recovering forks, what is a SegWit address, what is an Adblock... Those topics are not demanded here.

This forum is improving my English writing skills too!

I believe the forum has been placed as someplace where you can do easy money, and that's why we all have too many newbies with such a goal.
Yeah, this is pretty bad for the forum, and if we continued down this road nobody would be making money anymore, as there is no reason to pay for spammers signatures. As soon as companies realizes that (I don't know how they have not realized it yet), campaigns are gonna be a lot different.

    You rocked it, man!!
But, also, you're one in a million. This is really obvious you are a crypto lover, in the good sense. Your topic review makes anybody interested in crypto world feel proud of your efforts.
Sadly, this is really difficult to find here. Even when I totally agree with your advice about how to earn merit, few are going to understand them or even read it. Few are willing to make a research, they are only here seeking how to earn money instead of knowledge. I believe the forum has been placed as someplace where you can do easy money, and that's why we all have too many newbies with such a goal.
Anyway, people like you through light into the forum and I am really glad for you to be recompensated as you deserve.
Congrats, and thanks for all those amazing posts!!!!

Congrats, and I'm such a sheep that I gave you a merit as well.

For me, your most important point was the one where you suggest posting in threads with few replies, especially if the title looks interesting.

Thumbs up! Not an easy feat and another example of how it can be done, although not many make the breakthrough easily now.

Unmerited users really should look at posts from guys that make it to understand the hows and whys of things.

Well, really good for you, probably other users can learn from you. Though, in as much as I don't really care about the whole merit thing that much, its still a good thing to see that the system is working genuinely.

Everyone should read this thread instead of begging for merits.
It's a fact that this merit system is not bad at all.
And why it seems so bad? because we made it look like "it is bad".
We can learn that anyone can get merit if they're qualified for it.
You are a good example for us. Thanks for making this thread.
I've opened up my mind to this merit system.
And Congrats On Your Completed Task

    • I like to research a lot about crypto. After my researches sometimes I create a topic about something I learned, this can help others.

Creating a topic will likely further your learning also. Sometimes when your learning a complex subject you may get something wrong, and by creating a topic related to what you've just learned and going into detail will likely have mistakes, and the community can further highlight any mistakes you may have heard. I'm not saying to create a topic every time,  but it certainly helps further your knowledge at certain subjects.

Good job on proving that the system is working. It's refreshing to see someone eager to learn about Bitcoin and it's technology.

That's the most important distinction between you and those moaning.  Wink

Wow bro! You are really awesome! I hope that people like you will inspire other people to get merit. Instead of complaining on how to get merit and struggle with it, just work hard, research make Good Quality posts!
You are one of the few people who prooves that we can rank up. To be honest, just seeing your merits makes me think that I can also do it. thanks for the advice it really helps me a lot. Yes, being patient is one of the biggest factor in this forum as it takes time and more effort if you really want to rank up. I will learn from you and think that I can also do it, a 100 merits. it is really a challenge. lol.

(i hate this activity system!! lol)
