Made a move yesterday after coming across few threads about coinomi wallet in wallets thread of this forum, missing funds, stolen recovery seeds, some said it's coinomi team, some blame SSL but I don't want this to happen to me, I finally switched to Trust wallet even though it's not fully open source, I hardly heard anything bad about the wallet.

Nice move you made there. for every reason, it is always better to act on rumors especially when it's related to scam so that you won't be a scapegoat. I stop using them for quite sometimes now due to the various scam accusations about them. Trust wallet is a good choice with the fact that it is backed by the most trusted exchange out there but i use Atomic wallet though due to it's all-in-one management solutions tool.

No offense, but is it a coincidence or this is somehow this is being planned? Is trust wallet doing an underground campaign or a promotion of its wallet? This is the second or third thread I am seeing about Trust wallet and how good it is. Something just doesn't feel right Roll Eyes

I'm sorry, there are so many cases like this. This is a lesson for us to be selective in choosing a trusted wallet. A few days ago I also read the news that the ranking in the download can be manipulated, this is increasingly troubling, fortunately Google Removes 49 Phishing Extensions That Steal Cryptocurrency Data. untuk wallet ERC20 try reading this article to get the best choice https://cryptodetail.com/top-5-erc20-wallets-store-eth-based-tokens

Most of the online wallets have negativity, which is common in mobile app-based wallets! But honestly, I haven't seen any threads against Trust Wallet! Binance improved a lot! Even I would say the Dapp browser in Trust wallet also the best among others! So, you made a wise decision, but don't forget to save your phrase codes in offline!

Good to hear you switched form coinomi to trust wallet cause it more convenient and more secure as I have not encountered ay malicious activities from the apps since I switch from Imtoken which I had an wallet compromised same thing happened to my MEW wallet. Taking care of your private keys, seeds and paraphrase don't matter it would out.
Hi totoy4741, most (if not all) wallets you mention have the same security model. We can't say for all of them, but with Coinomi your private keys and seeds are kept encrypted in your device at all times and never transmitted out. You can read more about Coinomi's security here. If you are continuously having funds compromised we recommend that you read out tips here for how to properly store your seed: https://coinomi.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/29000019254-how-can-i-back-up-restore-my-wallet-what-happens-if-i-lose-my-phone-

We should very careful when using 3rd party wallet like coinomi or the others because we dont have private key or seed of our wallet.
The best secure wallet is your own wallet, installed on your own pc, you have 100% owning your wallet. My advice, never use 3rd party wallet for big amount of coin, just use with small amount.
Hi SistaFista, if you are not familiar with Coinomi, it's a wallet where the user has full control over their seed and private keys. Exactly the opposite of what you are saying. You can read more about Coinomi and understand what it is here: https://coinomi.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/29000024165-introduction-to-coinomi

That’s a great new wallet compare to Coinomi and you’re lucky to move early or else you’ll become a victim of a poor serviceZ Trust wallet is under BNB it I’m not mistaken, though its not a perfect wallet but I know BNB are doing their best. Be secured always, don’t trust anyone with regards to your wallet and always keep it safe.
Hi samcrypto, do you have any examples of "poor service" from Coinomi? Our support team is available 24/7 to help users on anything they need. In terms of the app itself, we are constantly innovating and have the most complete combination of security and privacy features.

It's good that use choose trust wallet over coinomi, their GitHub is not updated like trust wallet, team aren't helpful too, I heard they have bad behaviors towards their users
You are right, Recently they have been behaving badly to their users. A lot of people have complained about this wallet, many have lost money when holding it and without their support. I believe that in the near future everyone will move to the Trust wallet because of its safety and enthusiasm of this group.
Hi southerngentuk, have you ever had a bad experience with one of our support agents, or saw one of such examples yourself? Our team is available 24/7 to help users with any issues they may have, and will do their best to help no matter the case. Coinomi has one of the fastest support response time, as well as superb security. The only occasions where users have lost money are in the unfortunate cases where users do not follow proper security practices and end up willingly sharing or losing control of their keys.

It's good that use choose trust wallet over coinomi, their GitHub is not updated like trust wallet, team aren't helpful too, I heard they have bad behaviors towards their users
Hi Balladtony77, Coinomi's github is updated with the open source projects that we contribute to, for example the BIP39 Mnemonic code tool. Coinomi is no longer an open source project to curb others from using our code to make malicious copies or unofficial low-quality clones while keeping the "coinomi" name. This was eroding our image and causing security and support problems for users. A project being open source does not magically make it secure. If you are not compiling it yourself from source you are not gaining any security. The binaries distributed on Google Play are not guaranteed to use the same code as on GitHub.

Regarding "bad behaviors", have you ever had any bad experiences yourself? Our agents are always happy to help 24/7, be it on Twitter, Telegram, Reddit, our support website, or anywhere you try to contact us directly.

I found a thread that disscussed about coinomi and I got a conclusion that everything in related to third party service will be gone to scam at the and, with one note the third party didn't get the profit anymore. Let say, if binance exchange which is considering has a good team and good reputation can be scammed when they didn't get any profit. As of now, the third party service will always give a good service because they want more profit behind it. This is what happen in coinomi if I may predicted, they might didn't get the profit as they want anymore. As a suggestion, you can choose decentralized exchange if you wish or buy hardwere wallet if you have money.
We don't understand what you mean by "third party will be gone to scam at the end". When using Coinomi you -- and only you -- control your coins. Coinomi is a non-custodial wallet and cannot access users' funds in any way. Comparing it to a custodial exchange like Binance makes no sense. You have full control over your private keys which are kept encrypted in your device at all times. You can read more about Coinomi's security here.

Hi spike, Coinomi is not a custodial wallet. When using the app you do not "share control" with anyone. We never have any kind of control over our users' funds. You -- and only you -- are in full control over your private keys. You can read here about how the app handles them.

Hi FrozenBit, you probably never tried Coinomi. We invite you to install and test out the app. Coinomi has been around for almost 5½ years and with millions of satisfied users Smiley (Trust has been on Google Play for less than 2½ years, were you beta-testing it before official release?)

Trust wallet even though it's not fully open source, I hardly heard anything bad about the wallet.

I still have my old coinomi updated but nothing is in side of it. I hope you didn't import your coinnomi to trust wallet? but only made asset transfer! You said trust wallet is not fully open source, does this mean they have something hidden? what can be the impication of this and why didn't they make it an open source? Thanks.

If we examine in depth between coinomi wallet and trust wallet are both good and trusted wallets, only if we put the wrong key in the private key, then this is a very dangerous thing, because before we accuse others of being guilty, we must correct ourselves first ourselves, have we ever been wrong in putting our personal keys in a different wallet.
Hi ahmia39, indeed Coinomi has exceptional security. As much as we try to educate users about proper security practices, due to Coinomi having millions of users some will not listen and risk their own security by improperly handing their keys.

I do not get the full gist as regards the hacked/stolen coinomi wallet; i have been using coinomi for years without any difficulties whatsoever; i keep my btc there.
Its a good move for you; you cannot keep your wallet where your trust does not lie; trust wallet is equally good; i use it for my erc 2o tokens because it is more easier than the coinomi app.

Always do your own research.
Hi ife2020, thank you for using Coinomi. What many call "hacks" are unfortunately result of poor user security in handling their own seeds. The app has never been hacked and remains one of the best choices for small and large values. We're always open for suggestions for how to improve the app, you can send us a message at support.coinomi.com saying what you think would make using ERC20 tokens easier in the app.

I have not yet read those threads about Coinomi issues I have small funds in Coinomi and will check if these are valid issues so I can transfer some of my coins to our wallet, I prefer Atomic and Exodus wallet over Trustwallet, but ledger wallet is still preferable if you want to keep your coins for long term.
Hi Saisher, Coinomi has unparalleled security and a unique combination of features to protect users even in case of a compromised device. You can read more about the security here. What you may hear about "hacks" are unfortunately result of poor user security in handling their own seeds, even with some users willingly sending them to scammers. Yes, in this case it would be very difficult to blame anyone, because someone must have accurate evidence before accusing who did it, because as we know that the coinomi wallet is a wallet that is very trusted until now.
Hi Lantind, Coinomi is the oldest and biggest multicurrency wallet. It has unparalleled security and a unique combination of features to protect users even in case of a compromised device. Hi Stanlo, Coinomi has never been hacked and has outstanding security. You can read about the app's security here: https://coinomi.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/29000016248-how-safe-are-my-funds-how-are-my-private-keys-stored-

Unfortunately users still don't follow proper security practices and willingly compromise their own security. As much as we try to educate users, due to Coinomi's massive userbase we unfortunately head about such events. As long as you take proper care of your backups you are perfectly safe using Coinomi.

It is not a lie, its true that in the recent days recovery seeds of coinomi wallet send over the internet and someone might access to it and might decrypt it to enter your wallet but its still nothing happened yet since its not easy as we think but coinomi tries to hide this issue which made questions regarding their reputation.I saw those articles somewhere on bitcointalk but forgot to bookmark the page.

I guess you could always have one on your own computer you know that right? Bitcoins original wallet is still there if you are wanting to get a bitcoin wallet, if you want altcoins you could literally have their original wallets there as well. If you want to own any coin you want, they do have wallets that you can download and having it on your computer with some back up would basically be the greatest defense against hacking ever.

You could also use hardware wallets as well, those are pretty much as guaranteed as it gets, plus they are pretty easy to use as well and they have a lot better UI too and look awesome. Both of those options are always better compared to any wallet you want to use, maybe they could sound harder but believe me they are quite easy as well when you get used to it.

If there are issues with the wallet that  you are currently using and you have a good amount of money that were stored there then it is wise to transfer to another wallet that you will feel more secure. I like your decision as you didn't wait for the moment that you will face any problem before you transfer and I saw that you are wise decision maker.

Other should follow your lead by making sure that they are updated to the news that are happening to the wallet that they are currently using so they can avoid losing their funds.

No wallet is completely secured so if you are facing any issues with your wallet then better to switch as you said but for the ultimate security you can buy hardware wallet which is most secured crypto wallet compared to other wallet types.
Indeed, if we look at a good level of security is located in the hardware wallet, and that is the last solution that is very bags, only in this case not everyone can afford to buy or get a hardware wallet, so some people in crypto must choose a device wallet software that is truly trusted in order to save the assets they get from their work.

I think there are many wallets to choose from other than Trust wallet or Coinomi, I'm using a lot of cryptocurrency wallets before like the Atomic wallet, Imtoken wallet 2.0, Magnum wallet, Ethos, and many more so far I never encountered any problems regarding missing tokens, compromise seed Phrases, etc. thats why I'm thankful that I choose the better wallet which is not letting me down.

Depend on your purpose, if you just have an intention to store a token which is based ethereum network then you will be fine.

But otherwise, you can't use Trust Wallet for token or coin that not based on ethereum network like Neo, EOS and etc, even you can't store bitcoin in it.

Also, I see a disadvantage of this wallet, namely there is not google authenticator feature which I think the security service is less.

Just use hardware wallet if you want really safe, all the security feature is only yourself.

Yes, in this case it would be very difficult to blame anyone, because someone must have accurate evidence before accusing who did it, because as we know that the coinomi wallet is a wallet that is very trusted until now.

There's nothing wrong with the Trust Wallet Bitcoin wallet, they are the same safe as the Electrum wallet. This is better than if you will use the custodial wallet but I didn't recommend to leave your fund for a long period of time. Instead, choose a hardware wallet for better security. There's is no 100% safe when you are online, so I assumed that it is 98% safe the rest might possible to cracked by scammers.

Follow these essential steps, 7 Essential Steps to Keep Your Crypto Wallet Secure.

Trust wallet is from binance, that's good enough for me, secondly it's opensource as per my own research, some said half open source but I doubt it, github is up and running, been updated gradually, this is of course better than coinomi wallet

I really think you should consider a hardware wallet, they are the best but trust wallet is good enough, better than coinomi wallet for sure, trust wallet is managed by binance team and I'm sure the features are been upgraded gradually

It's also backed by the big exchange site. As far as i know, the hacked case ever happened with binance but it was replaced the user's fund who was getting impact caused by an attack from the scammer. That means if use a service that already made by big exchange site will give us a better guarantee for our money that already stored in the service that has already operated by this company.

I still have my old coinomi updated but nothing is in side of it. I hope you didn't import your coinnomi to trust wallet? but only made asset transfer! You said trust wallet is not fully open source, does this mean they have something hidden? what can be the impication of this and why didn't they make it an open source? Thanks.

Trust wallet is better. This is owned by Binance so they made a lot of improvements on its features. Foe now, using multi wallet such as trust is better compared to other wallets. But the best one are hardwallets just that you need to pay considerable amount for this. But your security is assured. Which do you prefer? Free one but very risky or the other one that makes your asset safe? But for airdropa or bounty tokens you can use it. But for major coins such as bitcoin or ethereum you should use hardwallets or if no budget electrum and myetherwallet.
