When will it be our turn?

Our entire government is based on ensuring that the gap between the rich and the poor stays as wide as possible and I doubt they would push for legalization of Bitcoin or even crypto without setting grounds for controlling the entire usage and adoption of bitcoin because they won't do anything that benefits the masses without having control over it.

Still a long way to go for us but very happy for Kenya.

📣 Kenya to legalize crypto

Kenya is set to enact laws legalizing cryptocurrencies, as Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi announced on Friday.

I just saw this on my telegram news channel and an just wondering like when will it happen in my country Nigeria, though seeing it happening in an African country gives me joy that we are starting to thread the right path, since our African brother's are now doing the right thing, but when will it happen in Nigeria.
In December Mali became the first African country that is debt free, something that looks impossible from the start when military too over, but it happens in a way that even the top countries around the world were shock, so I am just curious that when will all this good news happen in my beloved nation naija?
This is a good one coming from Kenya because they are one of the first African countries that is taking their destinies into their hands by legalizing crypto currency in their country and it is going to be a plus for them and in the future I see Kenya becoming obe of the richest countries that will be in Africa because the implications of this is that Kenya is likely to have Bitcoin national reserves which will be key and critical to their economy

Until they legalize cryptocurrency officially, i don't see any need for excitement in this news. Besides you got the news on telegram which we are yet to ascertain how reliable the information is.

I am just curious that when will all this good news happen in my beloved nation naija?

Nigeria is already a bitcoin friendly country even though the government have not openly aired it as legal but we are aware of how involved Nigerians are in the crypto industry so if the government is against cryptocurrency, it wouldn't have been easy for us all. Cryptocurrency is not illegal in Nigeria but yet we should just be cautious of any crypto dealings within the country.

This is a really good move by them, Enabling the use of crypto currencies especially Bitcoin would not only increase the level off financial liberty to the common men but it will also reduce the level of corruption in the country, since Bitcoin transactions are not and cannot be manipulated.
So i think this is definitely a good move for them, if the push through.

This is great news and a very commendable one from the Kenyan government. The opportunities in crypto is so clear that every government will want to adopt it for its nation but due to the selfish interest of the government body, it becomes very hard to see them all accepting it without putting down strict rule to prevent citizens from using them on a daily basis or adopt it for some other payment method or even as an asset to hold for the long time. The Nigerian government strict rule on cryptocurrency has made it hard for our people to enjoy the full benefits of crypto, but the mass adoption rate is still increasing which is a good development.

This is my first time coming across this news. Such big news is expected to have circulated all around the media, I don’t know why it’ll be kept private when it’s something commendable for them and will serve as example to other African countries that will feel it’s not going to be possible. A link to this news will help a lot because I haven’t seen it or heard of it before. Almost countries I know are not debt free, so it’s very surprising to see Mali not to have any debt which I’m not denying the fact that it’s possible.

I have been seeing posts about Bitcoin national reserves in Africa, I don't know. Does this news have anything to do with it? It's good news that Kenya have finally embraced Bitcoin but I'm always sceptical of policies and laws set up by African governments because they are quick to changes overnight without planning.
even if a change of government has the potential of standing against whatever policy this administration might have enacted that is favorable to bitcoin, it will still take time and before then the extent of adoption must have grown to the point where people would have seen the obvious benefit of owning bitcoin and would not consider opting out for no reason. what we need is more of a statement that is in Favour of bitcoin in Africa, and we will be good to go. like us Nigerians that have already keyed into bitcoin investment though at an individual level, what more do we really need? we just want a clear statement that the government has also adopted it so as individual you can be very comfortable in carrying out your transaction without any sort of fear that one or two things will happen to you or that the law enforcement agency can assault you if they see you carrying out certain transaction.

even though Nigeria has not banned crypto, if the government makes a clear statement that they are also investor in bitcoin, it has a way of validating the crypto market in Nigeria especially the way locals look at investing in bitcoin and how risky it is.

Everything is possible and I know certainly we would also be a country to be announced about legalizing bitcoin, but I really want to know how they go about with the two Binance officials that was detained sometimes last year. Most times when things are happening with other countries we should check how fair they are with regulation issues, and again are they willing to accept cryptocurrency openly? Like i see our country still restricting people from making direct transaction were people are still using p2p to buy and sell bitcoin all these should be limited and turned back the previous ways we do trade coin on exchange directly to our account without the used of p2p. After all these are sorted out then we would know the next step which they are to take about legalization and as a reserved fund which other countries are imbibing to.

Mali servicing their debts and becoming debts free have nothing to do with crypto, after the Junta came in, they jailed all the past courupt leaders including the former president Son and sold all their assets to service the country's debt.

Nigeria also legalized crypto, there was never a time crypto was banned in Nigeria.

This news about Kenya planning to legalize Bitcoin as legal tender is actually one of the best news and great development coming from another African country after  "Central African Republic" made this same bold step few years ago, as this portrays a positive sign about how much African countries value Bitcoin. Because despite the fact Bitcoin is not legalized in Nigeria yet, nobody can doubt that Nigeria has the highest number of people that owns the highest amount of Bitcoin in Africa. So Nigeria remain a big economy for Bitcoin.

That is a signal that our government is lacking behind to meet up with the updates to overcome the current economy situation.

I have also been wondering what our federal economists and analysts has been up to since our economy has been crumbling with the hole of the usual financial revenues because by now Nigeria as said to be the giant of African and how it citizens has pushed forward to the global recognition of Bitcoin as adoptors would had prompted a move to facilitate on the national reserve on Bitcoin.
Instead they chooses to stay behind just because Bitcoin is a centralized commodity that they (government) can not take regulatory decision about but I think they are actually unknowledgeable to this path that they can actually regulate Bitcoin on national alignment with the exchange which if they had accepted the facilitation of Bitcoin with the public financial jurisdictions, they could possibly set-up measures to regulate Bitcoin limited across the border of the national jurisdiction on the exchanges?

Churchillvv posted it yesterday on a thread that I created, but it would have been better if he created a new thread for it because the thread is about bitcoin nation reserve in Africa countries.

About your question, cryptocurrencies are legalized in Nigeria. Although, our regulations are acting foolish.

About not having dept, I do not think that is possible. But that is not our problem because even those developed countries have depts. This includes United States.
