People don't realize that when the US and NATO supply Ukraine with war materials and money, that they are at war with Russia. Don't cry when Russia takes this war seriously. Be glad that Russia has withheld using nukes.

Medvedev is scared that something will happen to Putin, and he (Medvedev) will be in authority. He isn't as smart as Putin, and the nukes will be flying.

Do not die for Putin
Had this happened to Russia this would be shifty considered to be an act of war and sabotage by the Klemlin and they would threaten the west with nuclear warfare for such bold acts against the Russian Federation, though I am sure Finland won't push this so much into threatening Russia with a full hot war.
It is interesting how Russia has always been specially focused on spying and sabotaging Nordic countries, as they had the capacity to economically or militarily hurt Rusia.
It must be because of the recent addition of Finland to NATO, somehow Putin needs to exercise some kind of revenge against the government and the people of Finland for their choice to join NATO after what they saw was going on in Ukraine.

Of course, because Russia has always acted like a bully flying military aircraft into the air space of other countries, but there was never a serious reaction until Turkey did what was due for a long time and shot down a Russian jet. Did Russia start a war over it? No.
The only way to deal with this people is by force because because that's the language they know and are used to.

Nowadays the world is so afraid of being called racist or xenophobic, but there's a way to fix the Russian ship problem. These ships should be banned from entering any EU port and not allowed to resupply.
The fine for the damage they did should be set high, so that only the value of the whole ship can cover it. NATO countries are more than capable of keeping Russian pirates at bay.

Europe and the US are playing the situation knowing that you cannot really cut-out completely the Ruzzian oil, it is simply too expensive and would like end up with many governments deposed. But there is nothing preventing Finland to search and seize when detecting illegal activities. The Ruzzians were surprised of how quickly a patrol boat appeared... who knows what Finland may know.

Ruzzia has been sending since forever, even well before the Ukranian war, patrols of fighters and even bombers in the baltic and even close to other European countries, just to let them know of their "vulnerability" - I mean, if you completely ignore that they are NATO.

They will go for the proportional response, but Finland has been coping with Ruzzian shit - namely creating a migration crisis in their borders by sending people there to camp and the breaking maritime infrastructure, cyberattacks...

Now, Finland has a card to play: They have an exclusive economic zone and there are far too many "grey ships" that are Ruzzian owned transporting there. Finland now has enough grounds to stop randomly any of these and take them to port, let's say for a couple of weeks, for inspections as it is clear they are warships now.

I don't want to even imagine how big their defense budget is compared to the gross national income, all of it because they happen to have such a big and annoying neighbor.
I get Finland and Russia have a long story of conflict and geopolitical battles since the era of the World war two, but there is no justification to do something as blatant as sabotaging one's neighbor submarine cables for the sake of slowing down their advance and progress, specially when we talk about a country like Russia, which is pretty much slowed down and having important percentages of their people living in miserable conditions.

If a suitable agreement is not reached with Finland, Oreshnik reaches Finland, easily.

Spy equipment has been floating in these waters for decades, on all sides.

Considering the current atmosphere, i am guessing that Finland will keeps the ship, sell everything in the ship and give funds to Ukraine. That's an educated guess by a native anyway. Crew of the ship is in court now.

When Finnish police was asked in the news, if they have been in touch with Russia, they just said "Ei ole" (No). And when reporter continued "When will you be in touch?" They replied “Ei olla" (We won’t). And that was it. That's the atmosphere here Smiley.

Because why would we? It's not like Russia would admit that they have been cutting cables, so why would we contact them?

Facts speak louder than words, so yes, there may be no need to talk. I guess Ruzzia did not contact them to talk about how they intended to cut the cables and cause damages of various types.

I am not sure that Ruzzia has already fallen into the fact that Finland is NATO and they have the same strategy they had when not. I think they may have been too busy to notice that there may be larger consequences to their acts and that Finland may now be more proactive as is under the NATO umbrella.

Russia-linked cable-cutting tanker seized by Finland ‘was loaded with spying equipment’
Listening equipment was placed on Eagle S and related tanker Swiftsea Rider to monitor Nato naval and aircraft activities, Lloyd’s List was told

A member of Russia’s so-called shadow fleet is suspected of damaging an undersea cable.

[...]
The Eagle S was carrying 35,000 tons of unleaded petrol that had been loaded in Russian ports. The tanker had slowed significantly at the time the submarine cable, known as Estlink 2, was damaged on Christmas Day, according to Finnish media reports.

Four other telecommunications cables between Finland and Estonia and between Finland and Germany were also damaged.

“We’ve decided to send our navy close to Estlink 1 to defend and secure our energy connection with Finland,” Estonian Defense Minister Hanno Pevkur said in a post on X.
[...]

The Eagle S was caught in the act of dragging a several kilometer long anchor cable that was being used to cut power and communications cables between Finland and Estonia. In my view this is not "hybrid warfare" but actually an act of war that should have much more direct consequences such as closing the exclusive economic areas to the passage of Ruzzia linked ships of any kind. If you cannot behave, you should not be allowed in the room.
