Bitcoin is getting smarter now.
Is not it people are getting smarter and it's not bitcoin.

Bitcoin has been smart all the time but it is the people who refused to see through that in the past. It is good to see politicians beginning to see the need for its use. I want to see or read more about De Beukelaer also talking and convincing his political colleagues to accept bitcoin as salaries too, not only him accepting it. With that more avenues will be opened for bitcoin to grow and spread. Politicians are bitcoin enemies and if they can begin to think like Christophe De Beukelaer then the problem of bitcoin adoption is almost solved.

The term bitcoin is no longer unknown to people and the scenario has changed a lot like now they see profits in it and want to accept it as salary or say invest in it.More and more renowned people have already started accepting it as mode of payment and they will disclose it later on making huge profits so same is happening around the globe. With more adoption this would become normal and not a big deal so expecting it to happen soon.

Have ever tried to explain old people how to use smart phones? I mean people over 80 are hopeless in that situation, maybe a few exceptions but I can guarantee you 95%+ of them do not get it. People over 60+ right now have probably a 20-30% missing as well, and people under 60 usually have it unless they are too poor to buy one which is harder these days since it is getting dirt cheap.

So, crypto getting at the hands of people over 60 will not happen that easily, under 60 is doable but over 60 there will be maybe 10% of all the people who are 60 that could understand and start using it. That doesn't make sense to spend resources on that. Just focus on new kids growing up every day, there are more and more new kids aging between 15-20 years old. Remember crypto is around 12-13 years old from the concept now, even older to be fair since it was first 2008, there are kids who were born after that and own bitcoin now.
I've taught my parents how to use a smartphone before and I didn't find it difficult because my grandparents were always trying to find out if they didn't know. But maybe they have a hard time accepting overly complicated explanations and I understand it. People over 60+ are pretty much the same, but I guess it will depend on how we can explain it to them because their world is already too different from what we experience. That also applies to people who don't have a broad understanding of the times.

If crypto gets into the hands of people over 60, it will need more attention and help to understand it but as long as you can teach simple things like receiving and sending crypto and how to buy and sell, I think that will suffice. The important thing is not to teach too complicated things so that they get confused. But they might be curious to hear more from us.

Young people who know about bitcoin and use it can teach people about bitcoin because it can help spread the word about bitcoin. In this technological era, it seems like it would be easier to spread the word about bitcoin and it's a good move if young people who use bitcoin can do that because, at the very least, they can help bitcoin.

Although it will take a long time to receive bitcoins, everything should work out fine with the help of the internet. The hope is that more people can accept bitcoins like us.

But I think not all of the under 60 who have money have invested in bitcoin because I know a number of people not know about it and they are wealthy. But I can guarantee that all of the young generation who have education and know about internet own bitcoin. If all of the under 60 will join crypto and own a fraction of bitcoin then we will see the price of bitcoin to around 1M USD.

A great public pilot movement, and hopefully the crowd will find it easier to accept Bitcoin as a modern world culture. I hope there will be another big movement to civilize Bitcoin in the wider community, as I know some countries are starting to store Bitcoin as state assets. Things like above will make Bitcoin more acceptable massively in the near future.

Maybe like we are able to accept bitcoin as a culture that sustains our lives and needs, but what about parents and people who have not used bitcoin and even remote areas that are far from digital information tools, will they also accept bitcoin as a connector for their needs?
I think they need a long time to receive bitcoin massively except for people who live in urban areas that are far from remote areas.

Bitcoin is getting smarter now.
In Europe a number of politicians and parliamentarians in various countries have now started to accept Bitcoin as their salary.
And Christophe De Beukelaer who became one of the first European politicians to receive a salary in the form of BTC.
Of course this is good news for bitcoin because bitcoin is increasingly being used by the wider community.
Hopefully with this news bitcoin will bounce back.
They are rich people. They can afford the risk of volatility. This is something most of us cannot. Imagine getting paid in bitcoin and the next day the price drop like 25% all of a sudden. For most of the people it is going to be a huge issue since they will have to pay their rents and bills. They won't be able to hold the bitcoin and they will have to sell it when at loss to cover their expenses. But for people like those politicians, they have some other sources of income which I am sure they receive in Fiat. Hence they are able to but most people aren't. So, it not a big deal that politicians or footballers are accepting salary in bitcoin. It will be a big deal when everyone starts doing that.

In my opinion maybe they pay according to their wages even though bitcoin is going down a bit but they certainly have estimated how much BTC they each receive.
Of course there are risks that must be borne by a company.
But it becomes a fortune for them when the price of BTC is expected to rise after receiving a salary.
That's a very easy thing to estimate because the price of Bitcoin is always measured by the value of fiat currencies such as dollars, so everyone in this world knows how to do a calculation, because wages or salaries in Bitcoin always vary when they receive it, because the price of Bitcoin is not always the same every time.

I do not know who he is, but it's good thing for quite a while that I read someone being paid in the form of cryptocurrency. This kind of made me remember a news long time ago about a company in a certain country having their employees get paid in BTC. I don't particularly remember the actual article as it was long time ago. What just kind bothering me is how can they handle the unstable price of Bitcoin when it dips a little bit in the price? I wonder if the payroll department in their company keeps changing the amount of Bitcoin to be paid. Cheesy

The news will not change anything with the current market situation because the changes and profits are based on the country itself and do not have a good impact on the world. I read from news that NBA stars like Klay Thompson and Andre Iguodala have also announced that they will be receiving Bitcoin salaries. Is this true ? I think it's illogical how all his salary is converted to BTC. we all know living in the real world requires real and stable money unlike the volatile BTC
Although this may seem a positive news, but it will create more impact on the price of bitcoin if they will also use their bitcoin as a currency and not just a good store of value hiding in some pockets. But i think this is just the start of the wider adoption of crypto. In less time, when majority of the people start to realize the worth of bitcoin, they will start to accumulate it and use it to purchase when most of the merchants too start to accept bitcoin. Because if we'll just wait for the government to accept bitcoin, that will be a long waiting game.

This news will not affect the market as a whole in any way, it's just another step to popularize this phenomenon, which is definitely good.If this is the trend of this year and dozens of politicians from leading countries will receive salaries in cryptocurrency, then a more positive outcome for the market is possible. The first steps for taking this way are actually good.

I totally agree that bitcoin can be used as a means of payment in the future. There is no hope in my own country, Indonesia. Along with technological developments that are growing day by day. Currently in my country, I have used digital money a lot, especially for online shopping transactions. someday bitcoin can also be used to pay when shopping online in my country. that's my hope Smiley

I would not say bitcoin becomes the payment currency because the price is so fluctuative but if crypto that based in fiat just like USDT or other cryptocurrency based on each currency fiat that would be so great because with stable price people hold it more safely and many people will use it compared to using bitcoin as the payment currency

This is not about protecting its money from inflation but it is news about Europe being the first to pay politicians salaries with Bitcoin.
It's not even politicians who want to be paid their salaries in bitcoin, but the seven NFL stars have chosen to be paid in Bitcoin as well.
For example NBA stars like Klay Thompson and Andre Iguodala have said that they will receive their salaries in bitcoin.

I am happy to know that more and more people are willing to be paid with Bitcoin, which means that many people are starting to believe in the benefits that can be obtained from owning Bitcoin digital assets . if more and more people want Bitcoin the better for the value of Bitcoin itself in the future.

In my opinion this is good. Because I would also choose such a salary. Perhaps not all, but exactly half can be received in cryptocurrency. And yes, it's good for the industry as a whole. But the idea of getting your money in a stablecoin is also relevant, because a person can make a choice in the future. Maybe he wants to buy another coin, not necessarily Bitcoin. In any case, the news is definitely interesting.

I think it's too early to decide that everything has to be with bitcoin because the value of bitcoin can be too high and its movement is always changing, it's very risky to do that. maybe one day it will benefit and maybe one day it will be harmed, because of the nature of bitcoin itself which makes everything difficult to predict.

it's wiser to just use fiat or if you force to pay with stable coins, so that later it's up to them what they will do. because this is actually wiser because no one will be harmed, even though the action is very good and with the aim of advancing and familiarizing with bitcoin.

With every passing moment, crypto salary adoption continues to rise around the world. Historically, the adoption has been seen primarily between institutions and individuals, with recent events beginning to demonstrate those throughout the political sector beginning to embrace the cryptocurrency ecosystem.

According to reports, Beukelaer, a Brussels member of Parliament (MP) who represents the CDH, will be converting his monthly salary of EUR 5,500 into Bitcoin using Bit4You crypto trading platform, according to a report by Bruzz.

I don't think that news alone will make an impact to the market and will cause bounce back in price, it's nothing if compared to China that bans Bitcoin it would be more effect if like Amazon, Tesla and other big companies start accepting Bitcoin I think that kind of news would make a small impact about the price but with Europe politician accepting Bitcoin as their salary is nothing but a good news but didn't sure if there would be an impact.
It's a funny that some crypto enthusiasts are expecting bitcoin price reversal and instant impact from such a news, massive institutional adoptions or a whale buying a large chunk of bitcoin are the yardstick that will trigger a price reversal else the price will continue it's down trending probably as a result of impact from chinese holiday, however the mean of earning salary with bitcoin adopted by the politician will project bitcoin into more limelight and probably encourage more politicians to follow suit.

So, it’s not really like it is something new, just that the good thing is that as they continue to do that, there would be others who would also develop interest and become part of it. And we would see more investments being made into Bitcoin. The price going up is something that’s bound to happen.

Our hope is that it introduces to the wider community about bitcoin which is actually very useful in the economic system,,from the example you mean, one of them is because a high-ranking official in the country wants to accept payments digitally in the form of crypto,
so it's automatic.the wider community will try to follow these steps and bitcoin can be victorious again.

Bitcoin won't be vastly accepted as currency while it has such a big volatility. It will be more like gold, like an investing instrument, but not like the money you use to pay for everything. And also it should be convenient for most of the people. Now, it's still too early for this stage.

This news is positive and good news for bitcoin. But it is actually a risky situation for those who receive a salary in this way. But when we consider that it is the politicians who receive this salary, the risk disappears. Politicians can already make good money using their office. But I think it is very successful news for the world and for crypto money. The reason why I say it is bad for those who receive a salary is that there are cases of working for free in the event of a sharp fall in the month in which the salary is paid. But in the following years, their money increases again. But in bear periods, it can be quite a perfect situation Smiley

Europe seems to be giving a good sign for cryptocurrencies to grow there. As a modern financial solution some countries now make bitcoin as the salary of their employees. It's possible that the project is also cryptocurrency-based. Let's give us a source of information as well.
Yep, that’s right, once worked for a company in the Europe and they had bitcoin as one of the options for their employees to accept payment. The company had about a hundred and fifty employees and every month they would make payments to them with their payment method of choice which was really cool. That was the first company I worked for that gave me the freedom to accept whatever I wanted.

I chose Bitcoin and was receiving my monthly salaries in Bitcoin. I’m looking forward to the growth of Bitcoin in the Europe, and not just only in the Europe but in other continents in the world as well.

He changed the place where his paycheck is going just once like usually, just this time paycheck goes to a service that buys Bitcoins for you! Until now I saw many private companies doing the same, allowing their employments to receive paychecks in BTC, many people from sport are doing the same thing for a while... maybe a month ago we had this:
Quote
Miami Mayor Francis Suarez, who said earlier last month he would take his next paycheck “100% in Bitcoin,” is seeking to expand the use of cryptocurrency across the city.
So things are going in the right direction... one by one people are joining, in the recent past even some countries are experimenting big time with BTC, small countries yes, but it's a good start! It's a good sign that crypto will continue to grow!

If I could afford to accept bitcoin as part of my salary I would. Politicians make enough from their side deals so I don't think their super low govt salary  matters to them. I probably would do the same in their shoes

If you dream of a day when you will be able to receive a salary in bitcoins, then you can fulfill your dream after receiving the next salary. After all, there is nothing easier than buying BTC at the current exchange rate for all the money received as payment for your work.

Maybe when have Europe countries adopt bitcoin looks easy how to see price pump.

If that good news is successful, it will bring attention to people around them and who knows, they will also follow their steps and start accepting bitcoin, especially for the local store and that can be used by many people. It will help the popularity of bitcoin to that country and maybe that can also help the price increase.

Indeed it's good news, this had been the way for many years, Bitcoin crawling in the shadows and forming its own path to the future.
It's just 2 to 3 names but its a good start rather than nothing. When followers and supporters of these guys read about the news there's a chance they'll do the same or just receiving the idea they could transform their salary for Bitcoin will remain in their mind.

If he was the first and it's too early to say that if so many politicants and parliaments adopted bitcoin. This is good for exposure but it does nothing for the adoption of bitcoin. We need more than this at least major companies are accepting bitcoin to be a part of payment system.

Hopefully with this news bitcoin will bounce back.
This will not make the price of bitcoin to bounce back but the community will make it happen. it seems like that accumulation period for bitcoin is almost ended and bitcoin is always trying to retestit again. It's only a single politician from EU. This is also not even triggering the massive adoption for bitcoin. Look at the fact.

He's a part of belgium parlement. So many news sites are publishing this news. this has become the first step for crypto to be massive even for the parliament. VISA was also announcing if more and more people actively connecting their VISA to their crypto accounts in the exchange sites. Crypto is about to go to the moon again. Bitcoin is in preparation to make it happen. Im seeing it if we will be heading another bullish trend again. So many people are in accumulation period right now. Im so bullish with this news. With a single member of parliament adopt crypto and it creates massive awareness for crypto. This sounds pretty good. I hope more and more good news like this will come soon.

God willing bitcoin will reverse direction as soon as possible, especially with good news like this, it is likely to encourage investors to embrace bitcoin again like last year.
We just wish the best for bitcoin and other altcoins.

Very good news. I think europe is very supportive of the growth of cryptocurrencies. India has recently declared a tax on cryptocurrencies. It looks like this is a green light for some regions for cryptocurrencies. This is a good sign for the foreseeable future for cryptocurrencies.

Yes, India also responded with regards to accepting Bitcoin adoption, but the statement made by the Finance Minister regarding the taxation of digital assets, I think, unreasonable because such a percentage of 30% cannot be tolerated by those working in the field!!

It would be a good news for this community but we need the legal source .Share with us the source of the news that we can really know the details about it .Its a great news if the have taken their salary on btc .I thinks its really possible in rich countries and high society can do this who are really earning a huge amount of money .Its really make survive who get the low amount cause the volatility can make salary on low price from when he get this .So that he could face more trouble on it .I think we need to think more about it and adapt with it as much as possible .

It's good that they are starting to adopt Bitcoin as a mode of payment but there's something bothers me, what if they receive their payment and the market instantly crash wouldn't that be a problem to the workers? this is just a hypothetical and example if a company wants to pay their workers Bitcoin. I think it would be risky for workers to receive Bitcoin as a payment not unless they sell it immediately.

ya.ya.yo!
they should be able to take that risk and what if on the other hand the market improves and they can take profit ,the adoption is supported by the company as well so if the market crashes then they must wait ! circumstances are not difficult if the holder can control it ,every month the company will buy bitcoins so it's a good time to sell but it's not that simple either

Yeah, that's a good move by that politician but to be honest he doesn't even need fiat money on his life coz he has bunch of it. if i were him and i will do the same thing like that. i don't even need to think again to think to work even harder to get more money to keep my life lo. He has big salary as politician. I hope that he will give motivations to the more and more big guys to accept bitcoin as a part of their salaries. It doesn't need to be 100% but just give it around 25% from their salaries in bitcoin will be good.

It is them, the people that are becoming smarter. It's because that they do understand that there's more to bitcoin and what they've seen is just part of its growth.
They do realize that it's still in the early stage if they're aiming for the highest that they can. As someone working with the government or any reputable company, it's a privilege to receive your salary in bitcoin but it's always a choice of yours.

This news really proves again that we are at least 1 step further in terms of adoption then we were back in 2017 when the bullrun was purely based on hype and FOMO. That was also the reason in my opinion, why the bear market the followed in the years from 2018 to 2020 was that long and hard, the market of 2017 was just overvalued. If i would have the chance to get paid in BTC i am not sure if i would take that option though the drop from BTC in the last few weeks has shown that again. I am pretty sure that in the long run you make profit from it in comparison to being paid in FIAT but if you need the biggest part of that money every month to pay your fixed costs then it is hard.

I think they are not directly receiving bitcoin per se, but just have stated that they will be converting their salary into bitcoin as soon as they receive it. Two different things, but the message is still clear: they are now slowly welcoming bitcoin into the economy and possibly their ecosystem. They are getting smart by getting their feet wet, and by being an example for others who has the capacity to do the same.

Hopefully what they're doing is just not to get some sympathy and following from bitcoin and crypto users just to get re-elected since there are some people who would do everything just to make themselves look good.

Receiving a salary with bitcoin in my opinion is the right choice especially at this time the price of bitcoin is experiencing a decline so they will receive more bitcoins and if every salary they receive is not all exchanged for fiat money then I think some of the bitcoins left in their wallets must be can provide a large profit if they are able to hold it long term and then sell it when the bitcoin price has reached a new ATH.

Maybe there is some narrative behind politicians accepting bitcoin as salary. We all know that the Mayor or New York or Miami has started this trend already.

But the narrative that I'm talking about is that they could used it to attract voters? Maybe they will be banking on the generations that is heavily on crypto and they could used it as platform if they run again for public office. But indeed, a win-win situation for crypto enthusiast in Europe.
Maybe they have their own agenda by accepting bitcoin and showing it to the public but hopefully, that is not their plan to accept bitcoin. But even if they have agenda that will bring a new fresh air for bitcoin users and spread the news to that city and attract more users to accept bitcoin. If the support comes for more, that can lift the higher price and we will see another bull run like before. These situations are good for bitcoin to rise more as the price can go back to $38k.

Is not it people are getting smarter and it's not bitcoin. Bitcoin follows who will be adopting it and people are realizing if that will worth for them to receive their salary in the bitcoin form rather than fiat form.

In Europe a number of politicians and parliamentarians in various countries have now started to accept Bitcoin as their salary.
Glad to see this happens. I do believe if bitcoin will become the best store of value. It's now that countries are starting to seeing bitcoin as a legal tender as well. I heard that more countries are preparing bitcoin as legal tender.

And Christophe De Beukelaer who became one of the first European politicians to receive a salary in the form of BTC.
It seems like he realizes the potential of bitcoin in the future and that's why he wants more and more bitcoin.

Of course this is good news for bitcoin because bitcoin is increasingly being used by the wider community.

This means a few marketing and good news for bitcoin. I will be expecting the same thing to happen with more and more politicians. Will they consider altcoin as well?  Cheesy

First of all move this topic to bitcoin discussion since its related to bitcoin.

Adoption on bitcoin will slowly be recognize through out the countries. We cant say for sure what would be its future price but as long as many are interested with it, we can vet that btc will increase in market value. Some are probably getting hype with it when its high but thats totally wrong. Now that its down , people should take this advantage when the market is going red to acquire more btc.

the more the merrier! not a very popular politician in the international news actually but he is influenced by the NY city mayor which he stated in his Twitter post. https://twitter.com/cdebeukelaer/status/1486702433233477642

seem a pure fan and just want to probably hedge his money against inflation which he must have a lot since he owns a grocery store and he is an engineer as what his profile says. there should have been more people like him who have BTC in Europe, coinfest is held in their region.

This is not about protecting its money from inflation but it is news about Europe being the first to pay politicians salaries with Bitcoin.
It's not even politicians who want to be paid their salaries in bitcoin, but the seven NFL stars have chosen to be paid in Bitcoin as well.
For example NBA stars like Klay Thompson and Andre Iguodala have said that they will receive their salaries in bitcoin.

he is not getting paid in BTC but he is converting his salary to BTC. no government today pays BTC. yes, it's about celebrities and sports athletes hyping the cryptocurrency and making people come to crypto. for regular people, they join because they just want to make look cool to the public but behind the scene, something else is happening because there is a purpose why doing so.  if the value of their wealth is sinking because of inflation, it make sense to move to BTC.

winning vote could be a reason. crypto users are everywhere.

I think this seeding activity started from the New York city only. As mentioned above Eric Adam is the guy behind exploring the bitcoin world and implementing its roots into new york. He foresees New York as the future Hub for the bitcoin.

Nonetheless this is good news, as it is slowly seeding the bitcoin in rest of the politicians mind. El Salvador is another great example to do so. Since the whole state government in the business of crypto usage so that's just another level of acceptance.

A politician accepting bitcoin can only have two agenda's on their minds: Either they truly want bitcoin to become part of the traditional ecosystem Or else they just want to win the peeps vote through it.  Wink

Quote
Bitcoin (BTC) craze among lawmakers has reached the Belgian parliament now, as Brussels member of parliament Christophe De Beukelaer became the first European politician to convert his salary to Bitcoin.

The Brussels MP’s monthly salary of EUR 5,500 ($6,140.75) will be converted to Bitcoin using the Bit4You crypto trading platform, reported Bruzz. Beukelaer, who represents Humanist Democratic Centre (CDH) party, hopes his move would inspire other politicians in the region to show a similar interest in the nascent tech.

Beukelaer cited the example of New York City Mayor Eric Adams and how American politicians are working to make their native states or cities Bitcoin hubs. He said:

“New York City Mayor Eric Adams has spent three months collecting his Bitcoin salary to make New York the Bitcoin hub. I think it is not too late for Brussels and Belgium to play a leading role in the cryptocurrency industry."

If I could afford to accept bitcoin as part of my salary I would. Politicians make enough from their side deals so I don't think their super low govt salary  matters to them. I probably would do the same in their shoes

Indeed many even every month they receive a salary of EUR 5,500 (6,140.75 US dollars) around Rp. 85 million which will be converted to Bitcoin using the Bit4You crypto trading platform.
Remarkable European.
