I have one Bitcoin for sale for $1k
Love to buy that one too, will let u know when.
Saying a bitcoin is worth x amount of fiat a piece of string. Well, how long is the piece of sting 1 inch, a kilometre?
You comparing something to nothing (a made up number on a printed piece of paper)
Now lets compare something to something.
A Joule is a Joule, 10 years ago, now, in the future. The value of bitcoin changes because things happen.

And that is essence of money and gold. Pieces of paper and shiny metal rock. They have a value only because people want them. Their role is to make trade and transactions flow. Imagine how irritating life would become if we had to barter for things we need. Problem lies with hoarding money and using interest to unbalance that flow.

There has been a strong need for an internet currency without borders and bitcoins has filled that role. You can't argue with how much easier it would be if you could buy and sell everything online with bitcoins.

I'll sell you an option to buy a bitcoin off me at any time in the future for US$300k.

I'll escrow that bitcoin for you, using a secure 3-party encryption scheme.  You can choose the escrow holder.

Option premium will be US$250.  Given we're on other sides of the world, just send me equivalent value of bitcoin and I'll do the conversion myself.

I contact you if we hit 400k$ in future ok?

The offer to sell you this option is good for the next 48 hours only.

Cheesy

And how long will the option be valid? Rather useless gamble at the moment...

Not that I have spare 250USD...

The option will be valid for as long as you want.  100 years long enough?  Cheesy

No, it is not. You are discussing a value here, and how much I value one Joule of energy changes depending on the efficiency of the available technology, and what situation I am in. So, the value changes. Even the Joule itself may be changing as the universe is expanding. You built your model assuming constants are constant, so no need to get all excited when your model shows that they are constant.

How much bitcoin do you have? You people aren't speaking in complete sentences.

I have one Bitcoin for sale for $1k  Smiley

Yes, I would like to buy it. Hold onto it for me for a couple of years, will ya?  Wink

Why would anybody buy your coins for $1k, or 300k francs (or whatever the fuck currency the OP is talking in), when they can buy it for $120-$140 elsewhere?

...And that's how markets work

Not all Bitcoins were made equal, some are more equal than others (for example they have more confirmations).

About 100k-300k per coin is a fair value long term.
Why are they so cheap? I love to accept that offer, i will let u know when. It is all relative.
A loaf of bread has cost a wheelbarrow full of money in  Germans Weimar Hyperinflation 1924. So 300k for a coin is a true bargain because u spent a lot more energy on it than what it is sold for.
If u say u want x amount of Joules for it its a different matter. Energy is a constant and is needed by everyone.
To express the coins value with something which is created at free will is totally meaningless.
