It is normal for the top card to be hotter in the Tower case as heat goes up. 290 use more power than 7950.

it is not a tower case, i'm using an haf-xb and there is about 6cm between them, the same space that you get if you use risers

the point is that before the 290 there was a 7950 and the temp were fine, so the guilt belongs to the 290 or incompatibility issue with my motherboard and two different cards(7950 and 280 are much more alike compared to the 290)

Any time you place 2 GPUs next to each other that use axial coolers, one will run hotter than the other. It's normal, but if you increase airflow between the cards, you should be able to get their temps closer to each other.

yeah, there was a 7950 before the 290 that i bought, and the temps were about even(about 77-80 on both) the problem occured with this new 290 tri-x, the strange thing is that the 290 run very cool, unless i move it in the first slot, where it reach 84

An idle CPU mean at leas 50°.. so I think a it help..
maybe something "strange" happen with the air-flaw?

Have your try to see the temp difference with another gpu?

it's only near the cpu, which is in idle

i don't think this is an airflow problem, because if i put in idle the 290, the toxic stay at 79 vs 88 when i run both

check your airflow. is the hotter card nearer the PSU or another object?

i have a temp problem in my rig, i have two card in it 1 290 trix and 1 280x toxic, the toxic in the first slot run 15° hotter(88 vs 73), to me this isn't normal at all.

when my second card was an old 7950 the temp were about even, so can this be related to the fact that there are two different cards now? or it is just the MB that is too old(asrock p67 extreme 6) to support those kinda of cards if they are different, i don't know what to think sincerely
