Awesome, I am also a developer that has been around the BTC world, and recently re-found my BTC wallet... Smiley

Going to do something great with it!

I wanted to make a post somewhere here yesterday, went through the process of registering an account, and then realized I already had an account here, registered in September 2010. I only wish I started mining back then! Looking at some historical data, it looks like it was 8 cents per BTC back then, though the difficulty was low enough that one could average over a BTC per day with CPU mining. I remember starting up a BTC miner back then, and I didn't realize that mining happened in distinct 50 BTC chunks, so when I didn't see anything happening immediately I thought it was buggy and shut it off after a few minutes!

I did at least manage to realize my mistake much later and mine around a dozen bitcoins in the last few years, though I seem to recall I sold most of them when they ran for about $5. I've got a few left, and have most of them in some ASICMINER shares, as I don't think I'm going to be mining any more bitcoins myself. I think some altcoins like ppcoin look very interesting as improvements over bitcoin, and I wonder if the zerocoin privacy enhancements will work out.

I'm a programmer, and mostly have been focusing on network security and web development. I've been trying to think of some useful bitcoin / altcoin service to make, though haven't come up with anything useful that hasn't been done before.
