if the price for scrybt asics is this high, Dont think they gonna make GPU's obsolete in the near future. and even if the price drops, the scrybt asics come no where near to speeding the mining process up as asics have done for SHA-256 mining.

also remember that new amd gpu are coming

no one seems to realize the 80Gh/s SHA-256 power as well - if true of course
80Gh/s is useless after a few months.

there's other coins that use SHA-256, not just bitcoin Smiley

Yeah, you pay your electricity bill up front basically it seems. I also think these won't have the kind of resale value of GPUs, but who knows what the next gen will bring. Also, I suspect these are pre-production samples someone is selling? I am not sure, but I didn't expect them to be fully shipping yet - the price is probably way inflated because they are the first available (that I know of).
