Locking this thread.Received so many comment. If I not lock this thread maybe some sig spammer will bump this thread.thank you guys Smiley
This is the reasons why government are still in doubt on accepting bitcoin and make it legal, they can’t control it and it will be hard to monitor your transactions. Many countries are now accepting bitcoin and support blockchain, but most of the developing country are still not doing any action to secure at least a good technology. One day, Bangladesh will support bitcoin, and I’m confident it will happen.
They can't control and monitor btc trx but they can't avoid bitcoin.because bitcoin is the digital currency and people using it,many countries trying to develop the system. I hope so that bitcoin will be legal in Bangladesh.

not just in your country like that, in my country and in other countries there may also be. because bitcoin and the government are difficult to find harmony, and I think it is difficult to make bitcoin legal under current conditions, which is where bitcoin is used for many criminal transactions ......

not just in your country like that, in my country and in other countries there may also be. because bitcoin and the government are difficult to find harmony, and I think it is difficult to make bitcoin legal under current conditions, which is where bitcoin is used for many criminal transactions ......

basically bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies just need to be transparent in their transactions especially in building relationships with the government. In our country, bitcoin and other crypto are legal, the reason is that we are responsibly utilizing bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies to make efficient transactions. We openly discuss the advantages and disadvantages of it so we can work things out with the government. Most of the time, what we just need is to become a good member of the community, obey rules and regulations that the government is promoting, so in the latter time, if we want to propose a technology, they will surely put their time and trust to it.

Actually, Bitcoin has been transparent, here in our country, the adoption is getting brighter and brighter, we even have here government official who is going to launch his own coin, it means, our government are seeing the potential of crypto here in our country. Let us be patient if our country is not yet ready to adopt this changes, let's give them time to do their part to make study about it as this is their obligation to protect their citizens and how they are going to regulate it. Be patient and it will be worth it, just like we have right now.

Yes there are various aspects which a country would think before accepting or adopting bitcoin due to their own internal security and policies wherein we cannot rush or blame them. One thing which we have noticed this year is that more countries have shown interest in crypto this year and again I don't think all of them will for for crypto rather they will have their own centralized digital currency.

I just saw a news that yesterday  Brac Bank Talking  about blockchain technology and they also working to legal blockchain technology.Maybe this is the first time any Bank in Bangladesh talking about blockchain.Though few months ago Bangladeshi PM told that blockchain technology will be legal soon. Now just waiting for confirmation that bitcoin (blockchain) is accepted.Because we faced many problem to use btc, even few people arrested.also in 2018 one people scammed me 4-5.5K$ worth of crypto currency.who live in Bangladesh. Even he scammed maybe more than 300k$ from 20-30 peoples.Though i have all kind of proof but i didn’t take any steps because crypto is illegal.I didn't take any steps.because police can arrest me for using bitcoin.

BTC is an open secret in Bangladesh. people are trading,buy-selling openly in Bangladesh. Many sellers used crypto to their main payment method. Our Pm told that crypto will be legal soon. But don't forget we live in a country called Bangladesh. Anything can happen in this country. After PM announced it will take minimum 5 years to legal BTC.
And cyber police caught many crypto users this new is rubbish. The real news is cyber police arrested only scammers after complaining about scams.
But we always pray that Bangladesh will announce legalcy of BTC soon.

This ia nothing beneficial to the bitcoin. Using blockchain technology has nothing to do with bitcoin. Blockchain is just a technology. Many banks or others will use it sooner or later but legalism of bitcoin is something else. I don't know much about the cryptocurrency laws on bitcoin, but in general, it seems suncontinental people are having worse time with bitcoin.
Exactly. I was going to ask if he's referring to use of the technology (Blockchain) or the use of crypto (Bitcoin). Banks will definitely adopt this technology. Some are currently working on their blockchain. Eventually one way or the other they will definitely adopt the use of bitcoin and other cryptocurrency.
In this article they talked about cryptography. Maybe there is high possibility to accept bitcoin. If you read this article you will find it.hope bitcoin will be accepted soon and maybe they are going to create own currency.

Bangladesh cannot escape the domino effect on Bitcoin, big countries have eased up on Bitcoin, and they don't want to be the last one to do that, because of no country with the exception of North Korea, cannot ignore the technology behind Bitcoin.
they will have to accept that the world is now adopting Bitcoin, and it's safe to adopt because it is not against any nationality, religion or philosophy.

On the other hand, I heard few Ministers (of Bangladesh) are holding around 100BTC (per head). And, they are very bullish on BTC.

It is indeed awesome news for Bangladeshi crypto lovers. If ministers or other elite class/ important people wants BTC to be approved in BD, we can expect something very positive soon. However, Trading btc was considered as punishable offence in Bangladesh and yet people cant use btc fearlessly. On 2016, there was workshop in reputable institution and the speaker showed positive response toward blockchain and BTC.

Blockchain =/= Bitcoin. Roll Eyes

If they stated they are going to make it legal then they even don't know what is that, there is no need of legality from government to use it. Tongue
Blockchain is the technology where coins like Ethereum and Bitcoin are able to be created, Bitcoin was the first coin based on this blockchain technology that got big, but it's disliked by governments due to it being hard to control since it's decentralized.

But, however, blockchain technology is loved between governments and a lot of them are starting to build blockchain based ecosystems where a lot of their services would be using this new tech.

They are still able to ban Bitcoin, and now allow useage of it, just people are able to circumvent this fairly easily.
AFAIK,there is complete ban on crypto usage in Bangladesh so OP mentioned the topic only related to blockchain technology for that there is no legality needed anyone can create their blockchain and use it for any purpose if they want.

I'm not from Bangladesh but if this is true then you have something to cheer up, these ministers will find a way to legalize Bitcoin, they can lobby to make it legalize and regulated, this is one way to change any country's view about Bitcoin, vote people who are supporters and holders  of Bitcoin and educate these politicians about Bitcoin and the number of people believing in Bitcoin in one's country, if they see the number you can make a lobby, when it comes to politics, it's a number game.
Ministers holding bitcoin and they are not talking about bitcoin. Even i saw a video there, they are Against bitcoin.Only few technology lover/blockchain users told that bitcoin should legal in Bangladesh.I don't what will they do in future. But hope they legal bitcoin.using bitcoin or other crypto currency is risky. You guys will laugh after hearing this. In this law they said that you can sell your $ (payoneer, skrill, nettler etc not crypto) from bank but you can't buy it from bank or any resellers.if you do and Govt catch you then they will write a case that you are involved in money laundering. Actually buying any kind of online dollar in our country Against law.but we need $ to hire freelancer or buy any products, services.

I think legalizing currency over blockchain and legalizing blockchain are two separate things altogether. Bangladesh is a growing nation which obviously doesn't wants money leakages in its Economy happening due to this technology. So which is why they might legalize blockchain because of it's advantages but I highly doubt that Bitcoin could be legal anytime soon.

For countries such as Bangladesh, the cryptocurrency may be the salvation.
You don't know anything yet since they were just talking about the blockchain technology and concept of accepting/legalising Bitcoin in their country. We don't know yet if they are willing to accept cryptocurrency to make a change but if they do, then that's a good news. Not every country would do the same just like what they did, although this is just my opinion but I might be true.

right..  Blockchain technology is not only related to cryptocurrencies (Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, and others).  currently, the range of blockchain technology is very broad.  You can see a little explanation HERE

Bangladesh will NEVER legalize Bitcoin or any other cryptocurrency! MARK.MY.WORD.
(if you're smart enough you'll understand why. hint: paypal)
Yes, I can understand what you meant. But bitcoin is decentralised and paypal is centralised. Paypal had many agreement that Bangladesh couldn't fulfil properly .To accept bitcoin there is no agreement. If government want then they can legal bitcoin anytime.

Blockchain technology is wide enough to be used in different sectors not only bitcoin. Yes they are related but blockchain does not mean bitcoin or crypto. Let's expect for more governments in the future to realize blockchain but not bitcoin. Most government are in denial or don't agree with cryptocurrency so it's hard to expect from them good comments about crypto.
Goodluck on how they'll decide on crypto. But I'm glad that my country ain't that strict with crypto

Yup, because same is the case with India. India is not accepting bitcoin or any crypto as a legal tender but is using the blockchain technology.
I do agree to some extent that using the blockchain tech does not necessarily mean that they will be accepting crypto but it does paves a way for them towards using cryptocurrencies because there were rumours that India government will be launching it's own coin for payments. Though I don't believe this is true, but I believe that using blockchain tech paves a way towards cryptocurrencies.

Sorry about your loss mate but most of us have also been scammed before. Also, if you still have evidence about these guys scamming you then i think you can take them on once cryptocurrencies is approved in your country.
It will be hard because our country law is not strict for people. If you have enough money then police will work for you.I just lost all hope.

At least, that is good news for people in Bangladesh. They only need to wait for the confirmation that bitcoin is accepted. I think the government is already seeing the benefits of cryptocurrency for their people, so they are working to legalize blockchain technology. The bank will also support the government if the government wants to make crypto legal. After cryptocurrency becomes legal, I think people don't have to worry about using bitcoin, and they can report if there is an illegal activity for using bitcoin to the government. Maybe you can report your case to them. Who knows, they can help you to arrest the person who scammed you.
Yeah this is good news for Bangladeshi people. Also people will know about blockchain technology.I can not report my case and I already told it.But If government accept bitcoin then it will be easier for us,to cash out my btc to bank.also who arrested for using btc their case will be closed. Also have a plan to open a market in our area where we will sell product for btc Smiley

This was only focused on blockchain technology, maybe this is because of the adaption of China. After stating that they will adopt blockchain technology, no wonder that there are more other countries will do the same. It won't give any effect to the price of bitcoin, but it is still considered to be good news for the crypto world.

It is good to see that more and more countries are moving toward the digitization and adapting to the new area, and i feel like that bitcoin has played a big role in promoting and showing that the blockchain technology is a new and revolutionary system that has the potential to change and improve upon many aspects of our lives, even though that this is not a big deal or doesn't have any influence on bitcoin, because as some people mistaken blockchain is not bitcoin, it is still opens up a lot of new windows for crypto related and no crypto projects.

It's about the blockchain technology itself not cryptocurrency is what they are interested about. They knew blockchain can help them for banking solutions. Even China promotes the use of this technology. I think they are going to create their new blockchain. But no news about removing ban of the country. Hope the government will unban the use of cryptocurrency there. So people will enjoy the benefits of cryptocurrency. Hope they make a big announcement soon.
Lets just stay optimistic regarding on that since they are the only person who can decide for crypto's future in their country, maybe someday they will realize the possible benefits and opportunities that they might get from it. Governments are clever and I know that they will understand how cryptocurrency works and how it can help their economy, they should be thinking about it because it can help their people as well as their country.

Bangladesh is also in Asia which blockchain could be adopted widely through the initiative of China and it also involve cryptocurrency not necessarily BTC.
But just when they talk about blockchain, people will also think of BTC. People who doesn't have idea about blockchain will try to search on google and will probably land on bitcoin related website. Nothing on the news that says anything yet but Bangladesh will probably be creating their own coin too.

It's good that they are also positive towards blockchain technology. But it's much better if they will include bitcoin in legalization. I mean if governments now are seeing the positive side of bitcoin and planning to utilise it, why not include bitcoin. Bitcoin is a good example of blockchain, why are they so afraid of implementing it? They just have to regulate it.

All the countries will be talking about implement blockchain but they will not mention bitcoin or any other crypto for that matter because they are not planning to legalize the entire crypto market but they will be implementing blockchain for the projects they are planning to come up with and the banking industry might be using it but these words does not guarantee that bitcoin will be legalized.

Don't get too excited. Every time a corporate business or bank pretends to adopt crypto, it's all with a hundred different catches. Just because a state or entity says it'll be Bitcoin friendly doesn't necessarily mean it'll be so.

Of course, the exposure alone can't be bad, and the fact that people don't have to fear using it will be a great thing on its own, but I personally feel that it's when Bitcoin's banned and shelved that people actually find out how to really use it.

That's great to hear! Right now i can say i have heard about 10 countries who are opening up to the adoption of blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies which is good for the start. What's is really left is for the big countries like the US, UK to also announce their interest. Just recently China has shown some slight interest which really affected the marekt to some extent.

Do you have any good sources about this information? If really ministers of Bangladesh is holding that big bitcoin each then we can expect Bangladesh to be one of the many countries who will fully adopt bitcoin if they will push it. 100BTC is pretty big.

It's just a rumor that he doesn't know the certainty, even there is no official news about the ownership of bitcoin by his ministers, after Bangladesh legally formally adopted the blockchain, the ministers might hold even greater numbers.

Even he scammed maybe more than 300k$ from 20-30 peoples.Though i have all kind of proof but i didn’t take any steps because crypto is illegal.I didn't take any steps.because police can arrest me for using bitcoin.

We should always remember that the blockchain technology and bitcoin are intertwined or interlinked but they remain to be two separate things. A country or its government can all be open and adopt the blockchain technology but will not allow the entrance of Bitcoin. China is known for this. Of course, a country that is convinced of the benefits of the blockchain maybe easier to convince to also let Bitcoin in either as an asset or a currency. Talking about those scams, it is sad that there are those who are using Bitcoin with their deceitful schemes and at the end partly destroy the good name of Bitcoin as people linked the scams to cryptocurrency. Nevertheless, let's hope and pray that eventually the government of Bangladesh will allow Bitcoin into the country.

On the other hand, I heard few Ministers (of Bangladesh) are holding around 100BTC (per head). And, they are very bullish on BTC.
Do you have any good sources about this information? If really ministers of Bangladesh is holding that big bitcoin each then we can expect Bangladesh to be one of the many countries who will fully adopt bitcoin if they will push it. 100BTC is pretty big.

Hello; not each & every minister (of Bangladesh) holding BTC; I know few names & as well as their department’s name! But I am not interested to share this info publicly!

Seriously? are they using the funds of their people or its their personal money? Well, bitcoin is really good for long term holding. Usually government officials are against bitcoin but right now, most of the country are making their way to support bitcoin. Recently China, now its Bangladesh and hopefully my country will also make a big announcement.

It's as their personal money!

One by one the government began to look towards this great technology, Blockchain. Previously the Chinese government had also regulated the Blockchain technology system in their government, now Bangladesh government is also following China and I think in the future there will be more countries that will adopt this Blockchain technology.

It will be a great news if Bangladesh lifts the ban on bitcoin because it will be a wild market for bitcoin as most of the people is south Asian nations are well versed with bitcoin and crypto unlike other part of the world and definitely they will contribute in a positive way to the world of crypto but we cannot celebrate just with the news of blockchain legalization by Bangladesh government as they can use it in banking sectors or adopt a centralized crypto such as ripple by still placing the ban on bitcoin, blockchain is a vast technology which crypto uses and other non crypto domains does use blockchain.

Even if the country revokes the ban on bitcoin it's people should also support it instead of scamming or using it for wrong purpose.
Bangladesh is still talking about the possible use of blockchain technology. This has nothing to do with cryptocurrency and bitcoin. Blockchain technology is now recognized as promising and revolutionary by almost all states, because it allows you to safely store and use large databases of various information online. Many states, including India and China, although they recognize blockchain technology, however, prohibit or restrict the use of cryptocurrencies.
Cryptocurrency must be firmly established throughout the world before states like Bangladesh allow people to use it.

Blockchain technology is indeed very interesting. so do not be surprised if the number of countries that support it is increasing. by using blockchain technology the transaction system will be more transparent, fast, secure and the cost is also cheaper. now many banks are using blockchain technology. I am sure in the future more and more companies or countries will adopt blockchain technology. with the adoption of the blockchain it is likely that Bangladesh will legalize cryptocurrency.

They did a workshop according to the link you have provided and they are focusing more on the blockchain technology connected to the banking system. They are more on using this kind of technology for data and security purposes which certainly needed by the banks.  If this continues, Bangladesh took a good step to accept new kind of technology like this.

But it doesn't mean that they will gonna legalize bitcoin as others are accepting. When it comes to virtual currency, the said country Bangladesh is hostile about it.

AFAIK, bitcoin was banned there since 2017. Is that correct?

Yup and probably OP is mistaken for treating bitcoin is equal to blockchain.
Now just waiting for confirmation that bitcoin (blockchain) is accepted.

And talking about the bank legalizing blockchain technology, I could sense that they're soon create their own coin/token, best example is Union Bank that adopt blockchain and soon launch their own token which is PHX.

Bangladesh been banning crypto and been hunting down those using cryptocurrencies in their countries from 2014 to mid 20017, It's good to know slowly they'd been accepting it as before there are news that they send blockchain scholars to studied blockchain in Japan and India for their plan of accepting crypto finally. Maybe they already see how it can benefit their government too that's why they associating it with banking systems.
Bangladesh banks faced so many challenges before and the biggest bank fraud happened to them and now maybe they realize the true potential of blockchain. Sending someone to study blockchain technology is a good thing, they are serious about the adoption and maybe soon they will make regulations on that. Its good to hear more countries do their effort everyday, this is one step towards our future goal.

It is difficult to face strong legal restrictions in relation to the use of cryptocurrencies, however, the authorities cannot close their eyes to innovation and finally they will accept all the benefits of Blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies, we advance to a general adoption and The whole community that is stronger every day puts pressure on them to open spaces for participation.

You have made a good way of treating the case because you will suffer from not following the law,and at least you have learned the lesson about the possible scamming in crypto space

But having this news?you should be ready for more big event that coming in your country because of your Prime Minister seem to be supporting blockchain and cryptocurrency.

Try to accumulate more crypto’s as the big wave will come your way and bring you fortune, lucky that our country is neutral about crypto and we can freely do whatever we wanted as long as not scamming others

Blockchain =/= Bitcoin. Roll Eyes

Although it does provide publicity to blockchain, the core technology of bitcoin, it wouldn't affect the market as much. These governments adoption, even China, only focuses on the blockchain and not on the bitcoin. They're making their own cryptocurrencies to mitigate bitcoin's popularity since they don't want any decentralization, or power to the people. However, they're more or less likely to succeed though, they're just adding to the crowded altcoin market. However though, it's backed by the government so people may tend to use it especially those new to crypto.

And we can't really do as much since blockchain is not from bitcoin, it's idea and technology is invented way back before bitcoin is made.

Bitcoin and Blockchain are very different though. They may accept and adopt the technology behind bitcoin, but it doesn't mean that they are going to accept bitcoin as well. So I don't think that they will change their hard line stance against bitcoin here. The government may just want to harness blockchain for their own good.

You can see this discussion in the Legal board as well, Bitcoin Bangladesh.

I find this quite ironic that I can't imagine why your Government got so strict with cryptocurrencies when all the while the Bangladesh Central Bank became a victim of  the infamous cyber heist which I think was the result of having a centralized banking system.

Now, legalizing blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies would be good for your country and I hope your Government is on the right path to achieve  and adopt it but first they must have a legal framework to build upon these blockchain aspirations.

Nothing said about adoption of Bitcoin but adopting blockchain as their financial system. Just like China, they are likely to develop their own blockchain. I don't know if it will create hype on market. But still a good thing because they appreciate the use blockchain technology for a better financial governance. I'm not hoping they will unban cryptocurrency there.

I see many countries are ready to accept innovative technology and revolutionary platform for better businesses and governance.

But due to corruption, centralized government, and lack of knowledge about blockchain technology and its environment many countries are still in confusion, even depends upon other developed countries.

But my honest suggestion is don't play with common persons right.

As Bitcoin and other altcoins are open source, so the government has no right to ban or make any legal clause for them, its because if any government cannot control its supply, cannot produce it, and even cannot decide its price then who gives rights to make law for them. May poor countries including India, Bangladesh, and few other Asian countries are misleading to their users by giving false information. And there are no willings to adopt technology for the future.

How do I say this, Bitcoin is not illegal but it is not legal too in another country, So we cannot say crypto is illegal because in some country crypto is accepted now like for an instance in china they are planning to tokenize their national currency.
Anyways back to the topic, That's a great move by your local bank that's a simple start of adoption. In fact, here in Asia we already have some Bitcoin  ATM.

Even China promotes the use of this technology. I think they are going to create their new blockchain. But no news about removing ban of the country. From all that you've mentioned it looks like Bangladesh is moving forward with something positive about the blockchain technology. This needs to get legal usage access for bitcoin, there are countries where blockchain usage is found high while they've got restrictions on cryptocurrency usage. Anyhow acceptance of blockchain technology itself a big recognition for people who have been facing hard days of arrest and other hard punishments for using bitcoin.

I believe it's actually been a couple months since they said they where going to accept bitcoin and other crypto-currencies, legally speaking. I do remember their Prime Minster coming out with a statement, but could this be possible cold feet?

I don't think it's related to the scams that have happened in recent years with crypto'sthose where all relatively old and don't seem like a huge issue.

Possibly the recent moves on China's side can almost force countries like Bangladesh to start accepting crypto-currencies.

Blockchain technology is a platform which can be modified to support various systems utilized in different ways. This is something every country should be interested in integrating.
It's only a matter of time before it becomes legal in most of the countries in which it is banned, in order for these nations to avoid being left behind.

India is old school and up to now has been taking extreme measures in dealing with cryptocurrency. Cryptocurrency give those who are poverty stricken a second chance especially those who depend on the Crypto bounties to make income just to survive. What nay seem like peanuts to some, may feed a whole family within an impoverished country. It is good to see people in India taking the high road to get regulations pushed so that the law becomes easier to navigate. Some countries aren't as quick to reach a compromise.
I think fear and uncertainty is what drives governments into throwing ban hammers at crypto being it's easy to outlaw it and then figure out the details then to just let things be. It is stifling to creativity and hurts the peoples pockets. Hopefully governments work with the people to make guidance much clearer.

Bangladesh and other developing countries have really stepped up in recent years, and when big countries like China and the US are left without any room to grow, they've turned to cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology while Bangladesh still doesn't feel a need for blockchain technology and is still focusing on technical development.

Scams happen no matter what, it's likely that they would have been able to scam someone else if crypto didn't exist and they would have gone about it another way. It's just the payment method, that is crypto-currency.

It's true, but no country has yet condemned bitcoin but adopted blockchain technology, Bangladesh could try and risk it, I'm personally very interested in what happens.
