I read news article back in summer of 2012 and I had no idea what the article was talking about. Never thought about twice until fall/winter of 2013. I wish I could of bought some when it was cheap Cry

1998, started collecting them for free in 2003, collected 310, all in, I have only in total, 162 left.

You are a liar.

he is just a time traveler.

But he messed up with sync the private keys from past and future, and only managed to get 162 btc available for the present.

around 2012.

People talked about BTC as it was some kind of jokish nerd stuff, and I made no further research about it

People were tipping with it early in 2013 on reddit and I always took it as fake money. Don't remember what caused me to pursue it further but one of the first results for Bitcoin questions was always this forum

I believe it's conception was '96-'98.. and the block chain is not THE definative blockchain, for there was a time the blockchain website, which is only a copy, did not exist, whilst bitcoin's were being given away free the way it should be, starting at 1 per hour, that went down to 0.5 per hour, I left the net for a while, came back, and suddenly I gotta download some blockchain crap, which does not have my first 3 address's, or my kid's wallet address's in it, because they were created before the current blockchain. Beat that.. when I joined here, I was already 2 years mining.

Edit, seems I am forgetting what century I'm in, make those years after the end of the 90's pmsl...

But yup, '96-98 had something to do with bitcoin's creation..

I'll have whatever he's having.

LOL. I think he's having some dementia with a hefty dose of megalomania.  Roll Eyes

My friend told me about Bitcoin a year ago, almost to the day.

my story is the worst:
first i heard about Bitcoin when it worth nothing maybe something below 50$ (don't remember exactly) i was too lazy to pursue and read more about it
then about a year ago one of my close friends started mining Bitcoins. he bought hardware and everything (this is around the time when the price was around 1000$) and again i was Busy with other stuff and a bit lazy to go after bitcoins, he earn huge profits from his work
and now after the dust is settled Smiley i am here
now i wish i can see glorious days if bitcoin to come Cheesy

Beginning of this year.

Same, I saw a documentary about it, it was either on discovery channel or National Geographic, I don't remember exactly and interestingly it was about someone who bought and had lot of bitcoin apparently had lost his key and it got me curious and I researched and I learned that I was too late. But better late than never. Smiley

1998? i've read the history of it here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_Bitcoin and i found no date of 1998. How come you already have collected it in 2003? any proof of it.? I kinda confused here.

When I first heard it in 2012, price is so low like $10 - $15 a piece. I like the technology but I did not able to buy bitcoins there are very few exchanges. And I didn't expect it's price to rise so high.

I saw a YouTube video on Bitcoin in early 2013.  I crashed (literally) in March of 2013 and had temporary short term amnesia.  I woke up in a hospital and got my iPad and started trying to find that same video again to no avail.

I eventually did find that YouTube video like a year later and I realized why I hadn't been able to find it.  In my mind it was Hank Green talking about Bitcoin but when I rediscovered the video it was an unknown person talking about Bitcoin.  In fact I din't even realize it was the same video until the very end when he host said "you can't turn Bitcoin into a watch."

But that's not the whole story.  In 2010 and 2011 I know I was specifically going online to find alternative ways of making money like trading horse racing odds or gold farming on WoW.  I also played online poker and even after black Friday I still thought there might be a way to win play poker chips and trade them for real money.  When I look back on that time I think it is rather incredible that I didn't stumble onto Bitcoin then.  That's just a testament to how underground it was at the time.  But I know I must have sort of heard about it then even if I don't clearly remember it.  I think someone may have mentioned Bitcoin mining to me in passing when I brought up gold farming on WoW.

It took a crash to wake me up to Bitcoin.  I think most people are still asleep.  After leaving the hospital in April 2013 I started researching Bitcoin more.  I stated mining in May and I started buying in June.

are you sure bitcoin started in 1998 or 1996? I always though its 3-4 years ago..
