Hi Pente,

We wanted to provide you with a quick update about the status of your Xapo Debit Card.

Since this is the first true bitcoin debit card that is designed as a seamless extension of your bitcoin wallet, we and our card partner have had a lot of work to do!

Fortunately, we are in the final stages of testing the card, and the first Xapo Debit Cards will be shipped in a few weeks.

The plan for distribution is to ship the cards in batches. If you are not in the first wave of cards, don't worry. We will continue to distribute cards for everyone that has pre-ordered the card.

You don’t need to take any action right now. Prior to shipping your card, we will follow up to confirm your shipping address.

We appreciate your continued support of Xapo and we are working hard not just on the Xapo Debit, but on other innovative products, as well.

For more information regarding the Xapo Debit Card, please visit our FAQ’s.

Sincerely,
Customer Support Team

Unlike other bitcoin credit cards, Xapo will store your value in bitcoins and only exchange it at the moment you use your card. It still involves credit card fees, but for now this is a great improvement.

How are they managing this?

According to their website, in an article dated 2017, Xapo says VISA restricted their debit cards. And that page has not been updated since 2017. See for yourself:

I am still waiting for my Xapo card ... lol
Big LOL, as I only noticed the date on the OP after reading the first few posts.  What the hell happened here?  I thought I read DaveF talking about using his Xapo card in the US a couple of weeks ago, and he mentioned that the US is the only country it works in.  Is that the issue here?

I suspect we will see more delays coming down the pipeline. Here's to hoping that I'm wrong! Tongue
Glad you didn't bet money on that, dude.  I usually report necrobumps, but this one was very informative.

I didn't get that email from Xapo, hope I will and that they will provide debit cards for my country too.
I had Xapo card before until the moment they got into problem with Visa and withdrew all cards. However, that card wasn't perfect, from time to time I had problems in.stores so I hope they fixed that issues.
Also, I don't think they are the only Bitcoin debit card provider that don't exchang your Bitcoin immediately but in the moment when you make the purchase. Sometimes that is not very convenient because you never know how much money you exactly have at your disposal.

I was thinking of doing this but if I just exchange my crypto to fiat in the exchange then to my bank I can use the debit/credit card. To it is as if it were "prepaid" with XAPO you do not need to do that part it is done each time you pay. My problem is if you pay a Reddit card fee every time you use the XAPO wallet then what's the point? I hope some users hear can comment on their experiences.

Nice, another boost for main street to get the ball rolling on wider usage and adoption. Good way to get the plastic using folks acclimated to evolving technology.

This will be a great tool to help with fungibility. Ideally this would be something that is needed for a very short time as more merchants accept bit coin directly.

Is there any news from Mastercard re: Xapo??

I pre-ordered a card myself, but the last I heard was Mastercard denied having anything to do with Xapo. It's such a great idea, hope it's legit...

You exchange your bitcoin to debit card credit ?
