Yes, you can flash the Bios while the cards on on the riser. Here's a way to flash up to 8 at a time using AtiFlash in Powershell.

Thank you! I forgot that video i was going crazy where i did see it lol. I have my 4x rx 480 with stock bios so will try to mod them.

Do not forget to install those Blockchain drivers... otherwise the flash will be useless Smiley

I bricked my Bios my installing the blockchain drivers I ended up with 21 Mh/s per RX480, that's why I'm reflashing the original bios and try to get back to 28Mh/s with original bios and blockchain drivers.

Thank you all for your answers, I'll check out the videos you posted, many thanks!!

I flashed my GTX970 while they connected through risers. Everything OK. I think AMD-based GPUs will flash well too

Yeah, you should be fine flashing them while they are still on the PCIe risers. I have done this many times, both to modify the BIOS and to flash it back to the original image in case I am troubleshooting or selling the card.

Hello mining community,
I want to flash the original Bios back on my RX480s and I wonder if I can do this with the GPU connected to the motherboard via the riser cable (from GPU connected to the x16 lane) or do I need to plug the GPU directly in the 16x lane to be able to flash the Bios?

you can flash them while on risers, however take note of your GPU's if they are all identical then you can flash them with ease, otherwise, you have to do it one at a time.
