And it should be a good solution.

No1 tried yet? I dont have any 5 series, and people are asking to order but can't decide before this is cleared up.

Forcing will be a must, it had to be forced the other way around from 480 to 580 because adapter ids and other ids don't match.

I forgot to mention, it is a good idea to use a bios from a card with the same memory manufacturer and capacity.

So for example if the 580 8gb is samsung then you would want a bios meant for 480 8gb samsung.

I've tried, but atiflash said that signature is different, didn't try to force.

So I hear lots of people with 580s have some problems with new drivers detecting 6 cards, higher power draws etc...

Now I did see someone flash a 480 to 580 on you tube.

Has anyone tried to flash vice versa a 580 to 480?

It shouldn't be that big of a deal if it can be done 1 way it must be done the other way around too. If successful it will be away around all problems such as ability to use old drivers Smiley
