Flattr has stopped accepting Bitcoin so we can no longer fill our accounts using Bitcoin. Sad

I messaged Flattr support the following message:
Quote

Approximate translation to English:
There are 15 payment alternatives to add money at https://flattr.com/payments but I miss the alternative for Bitcoin.
http://blog.flattr.net/2013/07/adding-bitcoin-support/
Is the testperiod over and have you decided to no longer accept Bitcoin?

And got the following reply:

Hi

Vi fick stänga av det för det funkade inte alls som det behövde göra Sad

Hi

We had to close it down because it did not at all work like it should have done Sad

Regards Linus

Has anybody received a message from them where they say that they are working on it, to start accepting Bitcoin again?

What's going on? I do not think Bitcoin is listed on flattr anymore or can anybody enlighten me?

This is what's going on at reddit at the moment ----> http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/27cajy/flattr_removed_bitcoin_support/

Flattr lists me with 15 alternatives at https://flattr.com/payments:
VISA, VISA Electron, MasterCard, PayPal,
JCB, Diners Club, DK, BLEUE,
EC, Maestro, iDeal, giropay,
postepay, sofort, moneybookers

Where is Bitcoin??

flattr now officially accept funding through bitcoins.  Tho I don't know if they pay out with bitcoins yet?  Could be a great way for not for profit bitcoin projects to get funding.

I emailed Flattr support the following message:

I think it'd be very good for your service to accept bitcoin. Then the receiver could choose to receive their payments in bitcoin if they choose so when the Flattr was made in bitcoin. They are many merchent services now that will allow you to accept bitcoin and be paid in USD. Which all work out cheaper than PayPal or Visa.

Hi

Yes we plan to add support to use bitcoins, can though not say when it will be added yet.

they are considering since 4 month
http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/149q2f/flattr_is_considering_bitcoin_integration/

i am losing faith

is it really that hard? with bitpay it should be easy to pay into flattr
i don't care about payouts because i am only paying into that nice system

there are 2 options:
1. they start accepting soon
2. someone clones the idea and makes it bitcoin only, i guess it would spread well inside the community

To be honest, I always wondered why flattr didn't support bitcoin right from the start. This really was about time.

Flattr is really a nice idea and ideal for Bitcoin micropayments on the Net. Lets award good content (also an opportunity for the press).

I work on Gittip, which is a similar-but-different service. We've been wanting to add Bitcoin support for some time, but due to the recurrent nature of what we do, we've not come up with a good solution. I suspect Flattr is struggling with the issues, and I'm interested to see how they implement it.

If you want to get involved in the conversation around Gittip's Bitcoin implementation, check out Github. There are separate conversations going on for incoming and outgoing payments.

That would be amazing. Flattr feels like exactly the place where I'd like to trade BTC. It's a place that seems likely to be worthwhile for easy electronic contribution.
