Maybe this will help?  https://bitpay.com/bitcoin-for-charities

Direct deposit into the shelter's bank acct is as easy as it gets for the shelter, right?

Googling for "bitcoin for charity" brings up a lot of results, including the above.

Irresistible headline, even though I'm a dog person.

Not my area of expertise, but as a first crack at answering the charity question - maybe contact the Humble Bundle people and get some tips from them?

Two weeks ago my kitten snuck outside and got lost in a blizzard. I was about to give up hope after I spent over a week walking around calling him, putting up fliers, etc. He was either going to find his way home someday or he was dead or someone noticed how badass he was and swiped him up out of "New Hoth." Long story short but he was found and dropped off at this cat sanctuary not too far away and was being looked after by a really sweet and horribly outnumbered woman and a few volunteer staff. I had a hard time not adopting 30 cats when I went to pick up my lil dude because there were sooooo many adorable ones! I have never been a "cat person" because I am allergic but when my fiance suggested we get a kitten I fell in love. If they wouldn't have taken such good care of my buddy he'd probably be a loose-meat sandwich or a foyer rug or something equally awful.

Anyways, today on facebook Focus on Ferals posted this:

"Charlie is an example of a kitty that required critical medical attention. In light of the recent hoarding cases, many of our cats need vet procedures and medication. Please help us meet our financial obligations by sending a donation today. We would also appreciate it if you share this post, and hit the LIKE button, so more people see this message. I've shared it with all my social networks and now I'm posting here. I don't really expect anyone to jump at the chance to send off their bitcoins to another "charity" but if you have any resources or ways of aiding these people, they are really deserving. I just found out that the woman who helped my cat out is living paycheck to paycheck so she can take in more orphans than their organization can afford.

For those of you who have been mining the coin since it was worth .00000001usd, if you had a few mBTC to spare, a little adds up.

QUESTION: If I wanted to set up a 'charity wallet' that can be publicly audited by anyone who donated, how would I do that? The learning curve for btc is going to be overwhelming for this woman, she is not very computer savvy as far as I have gathered. I would want a way to manage a wallet for her until I could teach her to use BTC if that even became necessary. A friend of mine and I are going to try to develop her web visibility and get her running her organization with free google for small business products. How would you suggest transfering BTC to fiat for someone like her? Perhaps she would be better off just holding onto any donated BTC for the time being and look at it as some sort of bond that hasn't matured yet or the like.

Anyways, all input is appreciated!

Also, HELL YES $31+!! Viva la Bitcoin!
