There's also gridcoin which you might want to look into, it's still relatively obscure.

I'm one of the main developers at Folding@home and I would like to comment on CureCoin.  I'm posting here to gain authorization to post on other forums.  This post is NOT an official statement from Folding@home.
I think it is a great idea and should be backed by other coins. Why not use all this insane hashing power for something truly selfless and at the same time make some coinage.

Wow long time, that I heard about Folding@Home. Good to see that it's still up and running for the sake of humanity.

Still going strong.  We are working on many new things with the aim of expanding our network.   We are currently exploring CryptoCoin possibilities.  I've been reading up on ideas on how to get useful computation out of a CryptoCoin network.  CureCoin is one idea but has some potentially fatal flaws which I will discuss on the CureCoin thread once I've been give permission.

Welcome to the forum. Ive been folding for about 10 years now and am proud to be a part of it. It would be very cool if you can somehow use a crypto network for your cause. I'll have to watch for your posts.

Good luck!
