I think he wants to know if you can reproduce the same algorithm bitcoin uses. The answer is yes you can and there already exist other coins sharing bitcoins algorithm called Sha256 as explain by the second poster. Beating sha256 ? It's not something that you can beat is a method of doing Something. Google "algorithm" to know more.

Bitcoin uses the SHA-256 hash as the proof of work algorithm (read a little about it here: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Proof_of_work). ASICs have been made that can perform hashes much faster than CPUs and GPUs, which is why new altcoins tend to use other hashing algorithms like scrypt, x11, x13, etc that are harder to perform at a hardware level. Other than that, I'm not really understanding what you're asking here.
