Instead of writing the pass phrase down, you could just put the paper backup in a safe place. Better yet, make yourself a fragmented paper backup, and you will be protected from losing a single piece of paper.

Slight error in the above post. The video shows how you test a paper backup. Normally you restore a wallet by clicking the "Import or Restore Wallet" button in the upper right corner of the main screen.

Seems to have worked. I first had to "delete" the existing wallet, then entered the code and now it's re-scanning the transaction history, presumably to pull in the existing coin from the blockchain.
Yea...
Thanks a bunch. I had about $2K USD in there, didn't want to loose it. This time, I wrote down the passphrase, since (for some reason) the initial passphrase I used wasn't one of my normal ones...

Yes, I did make a paper backup (yea), but not sure how to use it or install it or whatever you do with it. It's got that 2-lines of coded strings. what do I do with those?
It didn't ask me for a passphrase when I added coin, but now that I want to get it out, im stuck.

Before you do anything else, check out this Armory walk through:

The answer to your question starts at minute 28.

Do you have a paper backup?

If so you are protected from forgetting your passphrase. Just restore the wallet from the paper backup and you will have the option to reset it.

If not, the next option depends on how much you remember about your passphrase.

If you are sure you know your passphrase, but it doesn't work try it with Caps Lock. That is the most common reason for that happening.
