That is a very good point. If that was in any other area other than Africa I would consider relocating. Thailand is rather Libertarian, clearly their are exceptions but for the most part not bad.
Swat valley in Afghanistan isn't Africa. Very libertarian place too.
Not as much really. Their law is harsh. Personal freedom is highly restricted.
Taliban rule? Yeah, that would suck. Probably as much as the Al-Shabab rule in Somalia or the military rule in Thailand, don't you think?

Daily life for the average person however is rather libertarian. Socialism/welfare state/nanny state/police state style of government has not spread here yet.
Except for the tiny issue of fredom of speech, sure you're free. Just don't say anything about the monarch that could be construded as unflatoring, een if you are an American citizen in America when you do it.
