what is this "brake pedal" you speak of?
Judging from his forum history, OP seems to have quite the knack for pointing fingers at admins for all sorts of stuff. It's beginning to resemble more of an obsession at this point.

He has found very good points to attack. What will he find next?

I am waiting to read a new one.

ok so who will create a poll?

I'd say it's what it's, as long as there's a better alternative e.g. google, ninjastic.space, I wouldn't force the administrator to fix the search engine because there were thread asking for this and until now there's nothing changed.

I think your next thread should be asking for disabling signature space or asking for notification when someone mention/quote your post.

An admin/s is not someone who is on this forum 24 hours a day, but a person who has his own personal life, which includes work, family, sleep and everything that ordinary people do in life. At the same time, you have a completely free service to use this forum and all its possibilities, but unfortunately you have not learned to use it correctly.

I personally complained about the same thing about the internal search engine on the forum.
It is not accurate.

Realizing this, I chose to use Google Dork to find a post with certain keywords such as
FORMULA -> Keyword + Site : (insert site)
"Coinomi"site: bitcointalk.org 2023
and there are many combinations of Google Dork that can be used.

After some opinions given by forum members.
Using https://ninjastic.space seems to be my preferred and more complete tool.
Even deleted posts will be visible, just need to customize the keywords and date range of the posts to be searched.

For https://loyce.club it still looks unfamiliar and don't know how to search for a post there.
Can anyone provide a tutorial?

There are many forum users, which use search option in the forum, but search results must be true. I searched for Coinomi wallet, which have Bitcoin and multi altcoin transfers and get results in 5 pages from ~2014 - 2017 years, but not the newest ones, for example, this one from August 29, 2023

Forum search is not perfect and those who have been on the forum for a long time know this well, but if you want to search the forum effectively, you should know how to do it. In the specific case, you are interested in a wallet called by a certain name, and instead of searching the entire forum, why not search in a specific part of the forum where there is a discussion about wallets?

For the test, visit the following link and enter the keyword "Coinomi wallet" in the forum search engine and view the results. You will get 2 pages of search results that will include the latest results related to that wallet.

~snip~
So forum search option in fact do not work due to admin fault and sleep. If the forum search engine is rate limited, it is also forum admin fault and nothing more.

Using the Advanced Search, when viewing the search results, the column labeled "Date posted" is referring to the thread creation date, not the actual date of the post listed in the Subject column. This can throw us off our tracks somewhat at times.

Since the search results are delimited to 5 pages, when there are many returned results, it’s best to delimit the scope by (one or all):

-   Setting the sort order to "Most recent topic first" (*).

-   Delimiting the message age if you want recent posts (i.e. between 0 and 900 days will bring back results posted over the last 900 days, trimming all the old results off).

-   If you really can’t the post to contain "Coinomi wallet" as two consecutive words, and not just to figure within the post either together or separately, add the quotation marks to the search string. This delimits the results even more, though you may not need the filter to be so strict (2 consecutive words).

(*) This on its own may not be sufficient, since it still seems to prioritize selecting the last 5 pages of oldest posts, but sorting them by descending date, thus, if applied on its own, the search for "Coinomi wallet" yields results from 30/08/2017 .. 02/05/2013 (go to the actual post to see the date, not the same as the one viewed on Date Posted as mentioned before). You'll need to combine this with delimiting the message age.

this thread is good enough to be set as a sticky because a ton of people do not know how to search here correctly.
Or if that doesn't work, https://Ninjastic.space or https://loyce.club can be added to the list of forum search engines on the search page. This will bring it to more users that are not aware of the thread.

I've gained knowledge about SEO and various other topics, so when I need information, I typically conduct my searches on Google using this format: (query) site:bitcointalk.org/. There are numerous methods to obtain results from a specific website. It's as simple as adding the website you want results from, as long as it's indexed and regularly crawled by Google.

Jolly? I think I've heard that name before. hmm

Forum users can only get old search results.
So forum search option in fact do not work due to admin fault and sleep. If the forum search engine is rate limited, it is also forum admin fault and nothing more.

So are you planning to find another forum and leave this forum? I would love it if you did. Wink

If forum user is interested in Coinomi wallet, he/she can not get true information, because forum search find only old results, but not the newest ones, which can give true information. There are problems with Coinomi multi coin wallet at the latest time according to the thread from August 29, 2023, - "It looks like they've abandoned the project but left some existing servers running.", so this is serious forum admin fault.

yeah it does suck ,but many members have offered a solution to help you. Actually I like that you mentioned the search sucks as it is true.

It is helpful for newer people to know it sucks and there are other solutions so thank you for bringing it up. I gave you a few merits.

this thread is good enough to be set as a sticky because a ton of people do not know how to search here correctly.

I tried to search by visiting the link https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=search;advanced, typing the search term and choosing the option “Show recent results first.” However, the results I obtained were random and not the most recent results. I get better results when I customize the search for a specific user. Something needs to be fixed here and until that is done you have no choice but to use google or ninjastic.space

Just so you know, there is an advanced search option where you can sort the results based on the newest one, relevancy, and so on. Granted it is probably not as accurate as other options available above. That being said, from a utility point of view upgrading the current forum is probably not the most beneficial since we're on the way to moving to the new software, CMIIW. At the end of the day, it is just a question of cost and benefits.

If the forum engine isn’t giving you what you want, you can search on google. In this case, you have to use the keywords “Coinomi wallet bitcointalk”, you will get all the old and current threads on the subject. It’s easy to use and it works everytime. There are other options like ninjastic space but I think google search is more layman standard.

The search function of the forum is rate-limited and it won't work for all searches and that's why even the admins have suggested to use Google search instead of the internal search function of the forum. The Google search works like a charm and it's easy to use Google search for finding threads of the forum.

If you’re not getting the results that you want from the forum search engine then it’s you use;
https://Ninjastic.space or https://loyce.club

It helps you search more information on the forum more accurately, so give them a try.
