The forum selects 500 arbitrary results matching your criteria and then sorts them. Narrow your search so it returns less than 500 results total, such as by using max-age, and it'll work.

I searched on my end as well for the string "darkstar", returned with the same results as yours. essentially there seems to be a date cut-off somewhere in 2016, and scrolling through all the pages there aren't any 2017 replies returned.

I personally just use the inbuilt google search - does it not work for you?

I found it's less accurate, and picks up things like signatures. Searching with google custom search returns some stuff about my lending thread as it contains "DarkStar" in the title, and it picks up posts made from my alt account as the signature contains my username, which are things I don't want.

It works, but I prefer the forum search for mentions.

Basically the title: The forum's search function isn't returning the correct results. To check to see when I'm mentioned, I usually use the following setting:

Before theymos disabled and renabled the forum's search, it would find the most recent posts that had darkstar in them, and I could easily check for mentions. However, after the fix to speed up the forum, it shows posts from November 2016 and before, despite there being many mentions in 2017 of 'darkstar'.

I found that this is caused by contention with long-running searches. Search is disabled while I figure out how to fix it.

I may have fixed it. Search is enabled again.

Note that I reduced the maximum results from 1200 to 500 and increased the results per page to 100. Also, the 5-board restriction no longer exists.

I think it is probably caused by him reducing the maximum results in the wrong direction? Search results has 5 pages, so I'm guessing it cutsoff the newer pages and just kept the 5 oldest pages. I've tried it on many browsers on 2 devices and it returns the same results so I don't think it is a client side problem.
