Same problem with Google; most of the search results are from very old topics. Some expert members helped us with tools to make the process as easy as possible (loyce, tryninja), but unfortunately most users don't know about them and not everyone who knows about these tools can use them. It would have been better if the feature worked better on the forum, and let's hope that we won't find these problems in the new version of the forum software.

I do a specific keyword search with quotes and prefix it with site:bitcointalk.org. You can check this reply to learn how effectively to use Google or any other search engine to find threads in the forum. https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.64643312

The only downside is that you should know what you want to search in the form of a title or keyword. It takes time if you do not know the right title or the specific keyword.

Search using the username and you will get more accurate results, but in general, if you remember the text or are looking for a specific word, ninjastic.space/search is the best. However, if you have a general description of the thread and do not know the words associated with it, Google search is the best. In both cases, forum search does not give accurate results.

I searched for "When I search the forum, all the threads" using link [1] and got this thread as a result.

Above all you can use Google to search the forum on a particular topic by using specific Google search text.

The forum software version is approximately 18 year old. O don't think you will be able to use the search bar to find most recent thread. What you can do is to check recent post which you will find at the bottom of the homepage. Although, it adds those thread which are getting updated everytime a new reply is made. It does show a new thread being created by someone here.

When I search the forum, all the threads listed come from years ago, around 2013 and earlier? Is there a way to show the most recent threads?
When you search with this https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=search
In Search order (near the bottom page), choose "Most recent topics first" as it is what you want now.

If you want oldest topics, you choose "Oldest topics first".

Beside 'options', you will see 'message age'. You can input the days old that you want. I have used it in the past and it gave me the what that I expected.

I prefer to make use of Google search engine. I also make use of ninjastic.space.

Looking for campaign manager? Contact icopress!
In the past few years I've used https://ninjastic.space/search for searching in Bitcointalk.
Make sure you hover over the (i) icons for understanding how to search.
