Am I missing something? I thought APAC stands for Asia Pacific, which is a pretty big region, right? It goes from China in the north all the way to New Zealand in the south. So why Cambodia?

I'm pretty sure @BitcoinGirl.Club is just kidding - in any case Cambodia is a better choice than NK Wink

We can only speculate. I hear people are pretty happy with their government there... At least that's what everyone says when asked. Wink

I had a search on Google with "is bitcoin legal in Cambodia"? The result was satisfying. I am going to plan my next holidays in Cambodia 😉
I was kidding @Fitfork, Lucius was right. I checked the list and randomly Cambodia struck the eyes.

Anyone having problems with Tor for the past couple of days? It's going insanely slow for some reason, im trying rotating nodes but everything seems like there's no bandwidth or something, but it's specially slow when it comes to getting successfully logged in on here.
Just browsing with tor browser, i am not facing any issues. But the slowness I'm getting in browsing I'm sure it's the network provider's fault. Roll Eyes

You can now bypass the login CAPTCHA by bookmarking the link generated for you here: https://bitcointalk.org/captcha_code.php

If it causes problems, I might restrict it to Jr Members and above or something, but currently anyone can do it.

Yes, this is what I do, unfortunately, the OP is talking about the speed to the point that most of us really find it unusable using TOR.

I'm also into the APAC region (not NK or Cambodia,  Grin), and so that explains why it is so slow in my end, thanks @Lucius for the explanation. I thought that it was my service provider here.

The only thing that comes to my mind is that maybe your country (ISP) blocks publicly known bridges, and the only way to get around that is to request a private bridge by going to "Settings - Request a bridge from torproject.org". As for VPN, regardless of whether it is free or paid, you should keep in mind that the level of privacy between VPN and Tor cannot be compared, the latter is a completely different level of privacy (in a positive sense of course).
Hey there, I remembered you. Anyway, I don't think my ISP is blocking anything as I have used TOR before to access Bitcointalk. I could be wrong thought. Have to test it myself. Lately I am having massive Internet related issues from my ISP. The speed is very unstable, everything buffers. That could be one of the reason. Yes, VPN and TOR cannot be compared, that why I said temporary.

At least you could go to the login page where I couldn't even connect to TOR let alone visit bitcointalk. I don't know why but for some reasons TOR is acting weirdly. It won't even connect from my side when everything else seems to be working fine. Tried switching bridge and changing options it doesn't work. Maybe something from windows update causing this. Better to use a paid reliable VPN for temporary if privacy is your first priority.

Well, I understand what TOR is for, I just didn't expect that there are users out there who uses TOR to access the forum. For me, I just find the forum like a social media websites platform like facebook and youtube, so I'm using a normal browser (brave or google).

TOR is a bit more than just a browser; i.e. you can use a "normal" browser and still use the advantages of The Onion Router network (aka TOR network) if you care about your privacy.

I had to make a search for the term APAC and then realize what a stupid I am LOL. Now we know ETF is somewhere from Cambodia 😂

All smooth and fast here.

Yes, i also experience this problem. But there's no problem when i try to access different website using Tor. I'd guess something wrong on CloudFlare or CloudFlare configuration made by admin.

You are right, it seems that the entire APAC region is affected and CF is working on fixing the problem.

Investigating - Customers may see degraded R2 performance in the APAC region. Impacted customers will see slower uploads and downloads.

If the forum is working well with ordinary browsers, it is highly unlikely that the issue is from the forum. At least with what I experienced so far and my knowledge of how the forum appreciates people's privacy.

That said, you never told us the kind of gadget you are using. My experience shows that the mobile browsing of Tor with the forum is better in all ramifications compared to the PC experience. If this is the case, I don't think it is the forum still, though you might try it on another gadget.

However, my last suggestion goes to your internet itself. At times, it might be problematic, it might be slow or Tor and the particular IP you use are warring. This last might be strange to many but it happens and you might consider refreshing it if you are using a dynamic type.

I did not notice a real problem. Browsing is slow and pages take time to load, especially when you click on all, in which verifying your identity takes a long time, but I can still access the forum and use it. You may need to reset your browser to the default settings and activate JavaScript.

When people use Tor, they use Tor Browser where you don't change any setting (except bridge and security level). So unfortunately your suggestion doesn't help me and probably doesn't OP either.

Im tying to get the captcha to show up but I get an error. I would have been locked out of the account but luckily I had saved my captcha code, but if it wasn't for that I wouldn't have logged in at this rate.

If anyone knows if Tor is having any problems and how to improve this it would be great. Im assuming it's not something that has to do with the forum. I cannot try to access the forum without Tor so let me know.
Try updating Tor.

I'm not actually using TOR to access this forum, so I was wondering why someone need to use TOR access bitcointalk.

Obviously for the reason why it was developed in the first place which is “privacy”. They are users here who have never logged into this forum using a normal browser, all they have been using since the creation of their account has been TOR and that’s understandable since they value their privacy.

Anyway, to answer your question, I had access the website and there seems to be no issue in my end using TOR, although I haven't log in my account.

Since yours worked fine the Op should consider checking his internet service provider to see if that where the issue is coming from. I am not currently with my device that has tor browser installed so I won’t be able to try it out myself to see if it’s a general issue or not.

There's one that says he also has the problem, it  probably occurs when a user tries to log in to his account as there's this captcha thing that has to be solve first.

The cloudflare verification is actually slow when you try accessing the forum using the TOR this isn’t happening to you only but a general problem, it is the internet against DDOS that is said to cause the problem. You can actually bypass the captcha verification by using this https://bitcointalk.org/captcha_code.php, get your link and use the forum without TOR

I tried it out and OP is right I have been stuck on passing verification for more than 10 minutes now. Accessing the forum through tor is getting worse sadly,
