Upgrading of the forum is a good idea if only the mod can take it into action. With the way the forum is now we can't know the statistics of all the users in the forum and also the statistics of every one online from the offline member

Take a look at the forum software that *hopefully* is being worked on. Probably wait just a few decades more before it goes online.  Lips sealed

The new forum software is in the bug testing phase
forever...and it is also fine for me. I don't like the word "change".
Just the word? Then an upgrade would be better? 😅 Upgraded to Epochtalk.
lol, you know, once you have an upgrade of something working fine, everyone will start whining about malfunction and bugs and it will take some time before we get used to it Wink
For the mobile friendly part, it depends from browsers also, some of it could enhance the browsing experience even in Bitcointalk. I am aware of UC (Chinese) browser but it is infested with ads and many features bugged after many "upgrades" (good job devs)... Not sure about others (opera...).

I was also making the UI of mobile app just for fun but seems people weren't much interested in it. I think it wasn't bad, low quality too to ignore.
you'll never know that until you release the running app in public. People nowadays prefer using mobile devices,

I Hope this is the right board for this thread; otherwise please move it. I have used the search function, but did not find a fitting thread.

Are there any plans to upgrade this forum to the latest version? Maybe include a mobile friendly theme or offline support?

Just wondering.
In reality... NO!

I think the management or either the mod are experience personnel and if they find any use to upgrade the forum the they will certainly do so. Innovation don't just happen because the users demand for it no, but it will happen when the needs arise and those needs to the benefits of everyone.

This is not a mobile APP or Desktop APP Like Facebook, Twitter, Telegram, WhatsApp and so many more beyond mention that gives you rooms to updates to new version. Since this forum have been created and launch I have never held anyone complaints it's not effective. Being her has no financial contribution to the forum rather the users gain form the forum. Instead of complicating issues I suggest we just do what's expected of us and wait to see future plan of the mod towards the forum.

Why talk of forum upgrade when we quite fully know that the forum work efficiently without any traffic obstruction despite the large population of people that work here on daily basis. I urge we should think of something else that will benefits the forum than upgrade

I ask because in addition to the latest capabilities of SMF at the bottom it says 1.1.19 which is pretty old, and there maybe security vulnerabilities such as CVE-2013-7236
I'm not going to pretend that I know what that particular vulnerability could do to a forum, but the SMF version [1.1.19] that you see at the bottom of this forum, isn't an accurate representation in regards to the security of this forum [bitcointalk has been heavily modified].

I Hope this is the right board for this thread;
Yeah, it's the right section but obviously you've done zero reading before suggesting changes to the forum.  I would suggest you do so, and if you had you would have realized that there are many threads from members asking the same thing you're asking--and there are no new answers at present.

There's not going to be a mobile-friendly version of this site, at least until that fabled new software gets rolled out, and even then I'm not sure if that's part of it.  So right now just deal with it if you have to access the forum on your smartphone.

Yeah, I'm not holding my breath for it to be released, and I'm also not looking forward to any change to the forum.  I very much like it the way it is and don't see any reason to fix something that isn't broken.

By the way OP, everything that was written in this thread has been written in all the other threads dealing with gripes about forum updates.  I don't think Theymos is paying attention to any of our comments.  If he is, he's certainly not acknowledging them.

I've used SMF type forums before, this one still has the old look and feel from 2008, but as some said not everyone likes 'change'  Smiley

I think the creators of this forum never made a mistake. They presume the future of it before launching it. I see no mistake or either an error. I suggest you study the operation of this forum because I feel you maybe finding it difficult because you're new in the platform. Soon you will get use to the forum.

The actual forum is fine and no need to upgrade it. We have a countless mobile friendly topics and posts, just try searching it. There is also some mobile browsers that offer a better browsing experience for bitcointalk than chrome.

It depends on how you are using the search button. Alternatively, Use third party tools like https://ninjastic.space/search if you want to get proper results

The new forum software is in the bug testing phase, though the process has been slow. Whether it will be mobile friendly or not, time will tell.
