I also observed the same thing. At first I thought probably I had run out of data or something but discovered I still had enough. Then I tried checking in only to discover the issue is from the bitcointalk browser. The rate at which this is occurring is becoming disturbing and this should be like the fourth if not fifth time such a challenge is being encountered.
Yes, I agree with you on it becoming too frequent this day and that's beginning to get scary I must say. I think the earlier things are done to rectify this the better for all like how the forum was able to find a way round the Imgur palavar almost immediately it began. Do I say I was lucky to have escaped this widespread bitter experience that littered the forum since yesterday as I was offline while it lingered yesterday.

You are mate
It was very annoying seeing that one can't longer access the forum freely as it was before. Nevertheless, its functioning fine now and I think everything has been put in places. But sincerely speaking whenever I sees all this error it gets more scary as if we gonna lose the forum entirely.

When you created the thread, forum was working on my side, AFAIK, because, before getting notification of your thread on my TG, i just made some replies. So, i think at the creation of your posts, things just getting started. As i slept after seeing the notification and planned to answer it later.

But later i was also facing the same issue and you were able to make some post but mine was not opening. So, i just gave up, and waiting for the website to recover into normal function. Still i think telegram bot is facing some difficulties to scrap data. But an hour ago i did received some notification which indicated that things are normal now. Thats what i hoped though.

If you said you didn't experience it, I wouldn't be surprised. This is because I also didn't experience mine when others were complaining, but a time came it happened to me. I think too many things are happening behind and I know theymos is on this.
I wonder how many people works on the BTT codes apart from theymos.

I seems this issues was much with smartphone, I tried accessing the forum using my mobile phone I still face same issues but with my PC its working fine without error displayed. When I red some post about people complaining I was thinking it a was joke I never is that effective.

Quote
What if theymos is unhappy one day and decides not to renew the BTT domain. Will it be the end of the forum?
To my greatest knowledge I don't think Theymos would just end the forum knowing the true Vision and Mission of this platform, it will be so disappoint for him to just take such action without fighting for the core Mission of Bitcoin and its forum. But whom are mine, if Theymos decides to not to do anything I have no option as well.

I believe it's from your end as I have never experienced it today, although I am not regular online since morning maybe we can say there's a system update going on.
Well lets see if any other person experienced this as well.

Today I tried to open bitcointalk forum few times and it was loading pages very slow, like never before and it was almost unusable.

It takes a lot of time to open any page and same thing is happening if I want to send merit to someone or do anything else.

All other websites are working fine for me and my internet speed is more than enough to handle everything I need.

Is forum under some kind of attack, is this is some scheduled maintenance or something else?

Yeah, and not only these errors, but I also didn't`t manage to post. I got this 500 Internal Server Error which I saw for the first time here. Users from my local branch advised to shorten the post and try again. That worked, but the fact that I spent more than an hour being not able to write here remains.

I also experienced this, but it seems just happen recently. So, it didn't happen a whole day. However, it is likely over already, there is no longer a problem in accessing forum.

I think it is not about the maintenance or system update, the problem is on the host. Not sure what happened, but it is a common issue by the way.

Sorry today I noticed what they were complaining of because after I came back from my place of worship I decided to glance through the forum to see what is going and read some news around, and there was topic that looks so catchy to me and I wanted to comment but I wasn't to submits my post that was when i knew something was wrong.

I'm also experiencing the same thing - but only 1 of the 5 tab I have open. But now it seems pretty normal - I mean no problem anymore even if I have 5 to 10 tab open at the same time.

System updates don't seem to bother the forum - this has happened many times. Theymos doesn't rule out attacks like DDOS or other attacks as imamusma quotes.
I just did as said of to close some tab i noticed it was freely load and submitting post. I started experiencing same issues today after not being regular online, when login I senses same issues. But now is perfectly working fine without any delay.

This issues was much today I wasn't the close to my system yesterday and today due to this problem I was actually think this forum has been hacked by some unscrupulous users. But lately this evening it became more better than before despite isn't allowing me to submit my post free but is more preferable than previous state.

Seems to be ok now, I guess Theymos is doing something in the background. I don't think that we are being DDoS though, in my opinion. The least of my speculation is that maybe there are programs harvesting some data in this forum to make it slow.
It is working better now but I had a lot of trouble in last few hours and I it was very hard for me to create this topic, and it failed two or three times.

To prevent other members posting spam and low value posts I am locking this topic now, but I will unlock it if I notice same problems tomorrow.

And now it seems the problem is on-going as of this time.

The weird thing is that when you post, it somewhat get hang or something. But when you check your profile, your comment has been posted already. As you can notice in this board already, someone has multiple posts. Perhaps he thought that his original post didn't went through so he just click the "Post" button again.

So I will suggest to check your profile after posting to see if it went it or not to avoid double posting.

Either way we are back to normal now and hopefully there will be no more slowing down.

The same thing had been happening a lot lately, but it should be back to normal in a few moments. There have been several threads discussing the same issue on the meta so far, maybe you'll want to take a look too and find some helpful answers.

Here's theymos response some time ago about the same issue:

My best guess at this point is that it was a random failure of some networking hardware. It doesn't look like any failure I've seen before, so it's difficult to diagnose. It doesn't particularly look like a DDoS or other attack, though I can't rule it out.

There won't be any downtime if/when I change anything regarding images.

Yes, you are not that only one experiencing the forum being slow right now.

I even have to switch networks as I though I was having a internet problem or something as my wife verified that internet right now is very slow on our end.

But when I did received a Cloudfare error, I said that the issue was with the forum itself. Maybe we will have to wait a few more minutes to see what's going on from behind.
