It seems that those people that have been baited with the offer of buying Bitcoin through eBay are more likely newbies and are not that knowledgeable enough or know nothing about Bitcoin making them fooled so easily because a well-known individual will not consider himself buying Bitcoin out of any exchange because probably that is just an obvious scam to be seen even at the first thought of it. It is a faulty on the part of the buyer at the first place on aiming to buy Bitcoin at a cheaper price offer out of any exchange because seriously it is not a decent thing to do purchasing Bitcoin out of exchange because you are obviously vulnerable to get scammed easily. This must serve as a reminder to newbies not to get caught into such offers and make yourself knowledgeable not to be fooled by those scammers.

I wonder they didn't use the escrow for this trade? I think that eBay is using it, but if it is not, it means that it is not safe enough to have certain transactions over there. I personally will only choose to buy Bitcoin in the top and reputable exchange. However, some people may not have any choice besides this eBay. Ensure that you get a reputable seller and use the escrow to secure your funds.

Isn't that right? It is almost as these people want to be scammed Huh And how could you possibly know these sellers were Russian?
Probably from its profile or other details. maybe they also claim to be Russian, but can't we validate this information? because if it doesn't prove to be truly Russian then this could be a bit of a problem.

I sort of find this hard to understand. Why would someone head over to eBay to buy or sell Bitcoin, yet we have so many exchanges that can serve the same purpose while guaranteeing safely of one's funds to some extent?

Yeah why you will look for riskier way to buy BTC when there are exchange that you can bought BTC without any problem or being scam. Are they selling it cheaper there that's why you would use that option ,if not then go for exchange and do buy in yourself . because the problem is for others to believe in things that they know are not true.

The fact is that that PayPal CEO just wants you to buy bitcoin for paypal and hold it for paypal, otherwise they did nothing adopting bitcoin. I do not think so that Bitcoin will be hitting 100K or a million if declined by the people due to such kind of frauds. People invest where there they find that their investment is safe.

This is a policy that seems to be a big obstacle for some of the Paypal user community. they deliberately enforced detention rules. while the authorities always rebelled against their actions. until recently most people were afraid to deposit their bitcoin in a paypal wallet for that reason. considering not only the large amount, if the amount of bitcoin in a paypal wallet is small, this will really make its users uncomfortable.

These people who are using eBay to buy Bitcoin may not really that techy or not really know what Bitcoin is.
I already saw before like this, but on different online shop, not on eBay, the product is really an amount of Bitcoin then you will buy it with different payment method based on the online shop or the seller.
This kind of problem is difficult to supervise by Ebay on their own platform, they may minimize but cannot totally remove or avoid.

It is their own fault, they adopted bitcoin which mean that they are responsible to provide the enough security which is necessary for cryptocurrency and their platforms users funds. If they cannot provide the necessary security, cannot make the necessary changes then you are sending your money to a dangerous zone where there is no security. When paypal has adopted bitcoin, it was their responsibility to make the necessary changes too. Otherwise they do not deserve to adopt bitcoin since ebay is a marketplace where everything sells even the domains and software are sold on ebay.

Found that Russian sellers are scamming on ebay by selling bitcoin

I found that Russian sellers on ebay are scamming people by selling bitcoins now. They are withdrawing your paypal funds to their banks and screwing you without sending you any refund or bitcoin but ebay/paypal do not care regarding this. They can only display a message "This item is not covered by ebay money back guarantee or buyer protection program" if that is the case then how PayPal CEO claims that Bitcoin will be adopted worldwide? while it is easy for ebay to check if the buyer has received the bitcoin or any cryptocurrency or not since buyer provides the address when purchases bitcoin or any cryptocurrency, PayPal has not yet any policies to hold the transaction and check if buyer and sellers both are not screwing each other.
I think it's simply an issue of not having an automated system that could check whether the wallet has received the funds or not properly. Basically, why the hell is people buying without an escrow, eBay is not an escrow service so what did you expect really. For real, it's not eBays fault, Paypals fault, nor Bitcoins fault. It's the buyers' fault for even falling for it in the first place. And no, this would not impact Bitcoin adoption at all, firstly, Paypal is trying to implement their current crypto system globally, which may take time yes, but it is a big project so it's quite understandable, and with that People who would then use that system would naturally learn what crypto is. Second, I don't think the Bitcoin community would lose a lot from people who let themselves get scammed without doing enough research themselves. Bitcoin itself is safe, the way you invest? It May or may not depending on if you actually spend the time to think.

But what if it actually happens? that's fine if you don't think it will reach unlike others do. Before there were also a lot of frauds and even today, people, no coiners believe that bitcoin is a scam.

Somebody who's using ebay for trading or buying bitcoin isn't oriented or didn't do research. If they had a friend doing that and they were also influenced, they're doing it the wrong way.

So when you cannot trade yet even the primary coin which is bitcoin then how the PayPal CEO may claim that Bitcoin is the future?
Bitcoin also acts a payment solution but in this case non-reversible once the transaction is confirmed. What is the point of mixing up bitcoin and paypal which are 2 completely different ecosystems?
You either choose Bitcoin or paypal.

Want to buy or sell (trade) bitcoins? Use crypto exchanges or escrow services, not eBay, AliExpress or Amazon. Problem solved. It's not rocket science.
