I would love this feature, with a small addition.  Make it appear again in my view only if people that I follow replied to it.

Sorry for bumping, but just an addition.

If this blocks posts containing/matching the word, (IDK if this was included), I believe it should include a notice (sort-of-toggle) on the page where it would have been displayed.

"You are currently ignoring the subjects: [[subjects]]"

+1 Great idea. This is similar to how Facebook allows you to disable notifications for a thread you commented on. Will definitely pay close attention.

A new button for the bitcointalk.org forum software:
"ignore this subject", especially in the overview of altcoins.

Coins that I don't find worthwhile to think about,
disappear from my radar ... until I revoke that decision.
Like "Ignore member", but for whole topics.  

It was suggested that I post here in Meta.
 
The original idea would be more complex: Weighted importance of coin threads.
