Got the card on Friday and fired it up tonight. Nothing but red lights, and the fan appears to be dead. Horrible, horrible noises. I'll play with it more later, but it was as described and shipped quick. Thanks.

Payment sent for the Lurch of 5970s. I'll report back when I get it and toss on some x brackets to see if it fires up or if there's salvageable parts.

I'll offer 10BTC shipped, but honestly with that description I'm scared it's not even worth shipping. Tongue

Who knows...

Are you a gambling man?  Wink

I'm invested in BS&T, so yes?

I have a 5970 with some blown VRMs, I'm betting that
1) The card is probably dead
2) At least 3 VRMs are good
3) At least 3 VRMs will be good when I remove them
4) Nothing else is wrong with my 5970
5) I can get the VRMs on with breaking it

Yeah, I guess I'd be a betting man. Tongue

If it helps the description,

HD5970 was purchased from a good standing forum member 3 months ago with a water block attached. I was planning a big water cooled build but changed my mind. I had the parts sitting around to put this together minus the plates which I planned to purchase. I've just decided f* it

are you even willing to check that it posts?

I could put screws and rubber washers on it and see if it posts, but then I'll see if it mines  Wink
Price would go up a lot, if I keep it for sale

Just as it says...

HD5970 Frankenstiened

Asus Heatsink, Black Edition Fan, Black Edition backplate, ?? GPUs, no x-plates or x-plate screws, no self set screws at the very back, fitting screws holding the HSF fan to the BP and card.
I've never booted the thing up, to scared to without the x-plates. Can not confirm it mines nor can I confirm it does not.

Any gamblers out there?

Asking $120 payable in BTC or Gox$$ on a roll of the dice. OBO
