When a Coin first comes out the mining is most profitable in terms of # of coins mined... BUT at that stage the coin has absolutely no value.
It is not being traded, it cannot buy things etc.
So although the early miners get the most coins for their time, they also have the highest risk and least value.
Now say when it goes through to a block only giving 200 coins... by that time the system is well established, the blocks are well in use, the coin is tradeable and usable. Thus it has a value.
So yes, you get a lot less coins later on, but the risk is massively reduced, AND the coin will have a determined value, so you will be able to know If your time and effort is worth mining it.
This is the case with all the coins.
All the people that mined Bitcoins early on... for what, they certainly were not worth $100's of dollars at that time. But they were also mining them easy and quickly.
NOW though, very hard to mine, but also worth quite a lot.
So I agree with what you are saying, but only so far as to apply it to every coin so far.

It does say some stuff but it doesn't look too profitable for the ones that will join later on. if you look at it in compare to some other coins and just btc and ltc it'll be a real longshot..
I have asked the Developer to give me a proper run down on the specs and such.
But based on what I know so far...
Total Coins is 50 Million, Block time is intended to be 2 minutes.
1 of the more exciting aspects of the start of the coin is the Random Block Value.
It gives good reward for the initial miners, but at the same time it is not unfairly proportioned.
Additionally the Random Block value allows for Pooled mining to take a more Average Reward approach, or can Solo to aim for the larger single block pay offs.
Block 1-10,000 - 0-1600 Block Reward (each block random)
Blocks 10,001-20,000 - 0-750 Block Reward (each block random)
Blocks 20,001-25,000 - 0-300 Block Reward (each block random)
Blocks 25,001-30,000 - 0-200 Block Reward (each block random)
Blocks 30,001-45,000 - 0-125 Block Reward (each block random)
The developer also has strong intentions of extending this coin into the Chinese Market. Although a slower and more difficult market to work into, once it does take off, there will be a much larger trade and mining community as well as cross cultural collaboration for Commerce/Use of coins.
So if you asked me, is the coin scrypt itself a game changer... well comparing LTC to BTC, then probably not.
But we do intend to be pushing the community for growth, as well as reaching far and wide.
At the moment we are about a week into it. We have had a really great response in terms of Mining Hashrate, and expect this to continue.
We are actively working towards getting it added to the currency exchanges, and when that does happen, that will be the big kicker, as that will also allow a lot of the Websites to also accept it.
